  • If you love vintage Christmas ornaments, Jody uses over 70 ornaments to showcase the hard to find World war II era glass bulbs. Watch the design transform from shiny and silvered glass bulbs to plain with tinsel. When metal becomes scarce in 1944, cardboard rescues Christmas tree ornaments. Featuring both Corning glass bulbs and Premier Glass ornaments, the video has an inspired opening and a sincere thank you. This is Jody's eighth video, be sure and subscribe so you don't miss what she shows next time.

    As somebody who's been collecting vintage SB's for a few years now, it never fails to amaze me how reasonably priced they are on the 2nd-hand collectors' market. Maybe it's because Corning cranked out tens of millions of them back in the day. Who knows. All I do know is I love the visual aesthetic of those old ornaments. They have a certain character to them that's lacking with modern ornaments.

    When did Holly brand glass ornaments enter the scene?

    • @jodypritzl8250
      @jodypritzl8250  Год назад +1

      Luke, kinda complicated. B.Wilmsen Company was one of the first vendors to Woolworth's selling tinsel and ornaments. In about 1965, the Wilmsen family sold the firm and it ended up with Trim-A-Tree products who used the Holly name. So you'll likely find the B.Wilmsen name with the Holly brand. If you're talking about Holly Jolly, well that's another story.

      @jodypritzl8250  2 года назад +1

      Kim,
      Thanks for the question and I'll be sure to cover the cap close up in a video. Early Premier caps were stamped with Premier then the company changed to a very specific style of cap with a plain round circumference with elongated straight springs. If you watch the Premier video starting at about 4:39 you can see the caps. Hope that helps, my to-do list grows longer. Merry Christmas.

      My opinion is rarely was an ornament signed. Shiny Brite did sell an ornament personalization kit which may have been signed by the person who made it but that would be a one-off. In talking with Philip Franke of the Franke family, the only signed ornaments were ones that were given to family members. If you have a signed ornament send me a picture through booksbyjody.com.
