Finally Trying A Fender Jaguar ... Sort Of

  • Welcome to another video, Let me clarify about the MIM humbuckers - i dont mean the wide range ones etc just the normal humbuckers you get instead of a single coil on certain models.
    The shorter scale lengh shouldnt put anyone off, asides from the strings feeling a little more slinky on the bottom end you get used to it fairly quickly and it doesnt get in the way, but i would like to play more Jags for sure!
    This is a different take on a Jag of course, maybe its just me but the Jag seems to be the one that suits all the modern colours and mods in a way the Strat and Teles simply dont. Overall I liked this guitar and enjoyed playing it, let me know what you think!

    The humbucker is designed to work very well with fuzz and distortion pedals.

    Man that's weird.The HB on the one I bought was the craziest most unusable BRIGHT I've ever tried. So I replaced the pots with 500k,and put a dimarzio super distortion in it.Sounds great now.I also bought the missing control plates off a guy on the interwebs and Har those put on.

    It's odd that fender make the enforcer pickups that are amazing. Yet still put those old fender dark humbuckers in the newish stuff.

      Never thought of it that way. I like the proper wide range humbuckers dont know why they dont default to those 🤷‍♂️

      Thanks man appeciate that - Its always either the Boss Katana or Neural DSP plugins atm. Often times a mix of both :)

    Would be perfect without the pau ferro and if it had at least had the chrome pieces on the pick guard

      From what i understand you can technically always swap the guard and put in the chrome bits and switches since this guitar still has routing for those areas! At least I'm mostly positive lol Just would need to set up the electronics and wiring for them if you plan on using them

    No tunes about an octopus ate the surfboard, your best girl's name preceded by 'Ohhh..', or about Dad won't let you run the family Edsel at the big drag race? Is that even LEGAL on a Jazzmaster or Jaguar?
    I like.🤗

    No Johnny Marr...sacrilege. 🤣🤣🤣
    In all seriousness tho, you could have played some Frusciante & been right at home. 🤔
    As a massive Tom Verlaine fan (up in my top few guitarists) who mostly used Jazzmasters, he occasionally used jags and mustags. However, JF is a massive Verlaine fan and apparently bought his first jag cause of seeing Verlaine using one.
    JF has had a few, but it's his candy apple red seen around Californication era that was totally inspired by Verlaine. I think there are plenty of live vid of 'Around the World' (for example) with JF using that guitar. He also used a jag on the album by all accounts.
    The other notable player other than Johnny Marr was Rowland S Howard (RIP) who basically used one until his death in 2009 & inspired the likes of Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine etc. Although both bands mostly used Jazzmasters mostly, members in the bands would also use jags. Same with P J Harvey, although she is most famously associated with Firebirds.
    Fast forward Kurt Vile who I really like basically only uses jags or at least would be considered his signature guitar. His brand new single sounds awesome and looking forward to the album. 👍😎
    And to this jag... Hmmm...body/colour looks sweet, but it's not really a jag (to me at least). A bit like the American pro Jazzmasters that were missing the rhythm circuit, until the pro ii. Although, apparently it was a great guitar, just not for purest tone or function.
    Cheers Pauly. 🎶🎶🎶
    ***Don't get any Jazzmasters btw or you'll totally have to put up with me rambling. 😂🤪
    Alright...nuff of my mumblings, as you can tell I do love Fender offsets. However, I don't own a jag...perhaps one day. 🔨

      Lmao... Surely there was enough mumblings here that you don't wanna go down the JM path. It's a slippery slope and you may never return. 😂
      How about another jag vid and this time you don't have to play any Johnny Marr, but Kurt Vile, I reckon pretty pimpin' is a great starting place. Such a wicked driving track...feels like it was ages ago when it was released, but maybe only 6 years ago. You can do it.. You know you wanna. 🤣🤣 His latest single is only a few days old and may provide some jag inspiration!
      Cheers man. 😎✌️

    Is there a white pickguard for this guitar?

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  Год назад +1

      Id imagine so, at the least theyll be a pickguard company that could make one

    • @GiselleDK
      @GiselleDK Год назад +1

      Fender doesn't have any pickguards for this model, unfortunately. You would have to buy a custom made and pay a lot more. I was also looking for a tortoise pickguard for the sunburst

      @@Paul-DWonder what it would sound like with the jag pickup at the neck and a jazzmaster soapbar at the bridge...not sure who they had in mind with this pickup configuration though, when so many fender players are purist fanboy gatekeepers
