**Attention** If you don't see the "Multiple Exposures." window when using the Exposure Time Finder function. Please slice a new file for your model of printer using Chitubox. Then use that file to begin this process. There have been some issues with older pre-sliced tests and some files sliced with Lychee .
I believe Elegoo Mars 2 Pro (for example), does not support multiple exposures, at least that was the case before they released ChituBox 1.9.0 which required a firmware update for all CTB-based printers. Perhaps the latest firmware for CTB printers supports this now? (I believe that this firmware blocks you from using any slicer other than ChituBox 1.9.0 free or paid.)
Sorry I'm very new to this ,could you please explain this new step a little more or can you do a updated version of this video with just the chitu part explaining that extra step!?thank you

@@SlicePrintRoleplay I actually went from barely getting prints to using vroom settings, on two different printers, in one evening after learning how to do this.
@@SlicePrintRoleplayso a quick question…when I ‘test’ to see if my Mars 4 Ultra is compatible it exposes the bottom layer, lifts and retracts, exposes the first block, then lifts and retracts, then exposes the second, third and fourth blocks before lifting and retracting again.. I think since it’s lifting and retracting between the first and second block that I’m going to have issues. Planning to check the documentation to see if my printer is on the list…if that extra lift/retract wasn’t in there I think it would work. I just don’t know if I can trust it, yet.
@@forrestegan hmm I agree that sounds odd. However, the only thing that matters (for the test at least) is that each block is exposed for a slightly longer time than the one before it. As long as that's happening (even if it's lifting at odd times) then the test is likely working correctly.
I have been resin printing for a little over a year now and in one video you explained uvtools in a very clear and concise manner, making it easy to understand. I did the my first test using your instructions and turns out, I was way under exposing my prints, so I thank you for this.
I have decided to try water washable and non Elegoo brand (Polyjuice) and have struggled to get proper settings on my Mars 2 Pro. This has helped,, thank you very much
I have been struggling with the setting for my Mono X! I use Monocure Rapid resin and the print settings they provide don't work well. This video has saved me a lot of time in testing and failed resin prints. mainly printed supports and no model!!! Thankyou for this valuable insight in how to test exposure!!
Absolutely wonderful video. Had great success with the Anycubic Eco on my Saturn at 2s but out of personal curiosity wanted a side-by-side snapshot of multiple exposures to be sure I'm printing optimally. My first test was 2-3s with 0.2s jumps at 0.03 layer height, with the results I am more than satisfied with my 2s exposure and could, possibly, push it even lower. Thank you for another great video.
I really appreciate the kind words and the detailed description of why you were testing. I love using this feature to test multiple exposures quickly! Glad you found the video helpful and that you were able to further refine your settings!
Incredibly helpful video! This helped me get my LD-0002H dialed in faster and more accurately than I thought possible. I finally feel like this machine is pritning the way it was meant to. This is quite possibly the most helpful and useful 3D printing video (for me) that I have ever watched. Thank you!
That's so incredibly great to hear, I'm glad this video was so helpful for you! Great printer by the way. I've found it to be a reliable printer that gives good results.
I appreciated the clear explanation of how to get this setup! Probably never would have figured this out on my own with UVTools, and hope this saves me some time down the road. Cheers!
Thank you so much for explaining this! I went from trying to do a single amerlab test and judging it on that! but now with my printers I know exactly what my settings should be dialed in to!
Hi! Thank you for the video it helps a lot. I have an issue though, my test are always quite small and centered in the plate. I print 6 and they are so small I'm having difficulties to read them. How do you manage to have your test taking the whole plate everytime. Is there a setting for this? THank you
Glad you found it helpful! The reason the video is fuzzy and out of focus for you is probably because you're watching it in low quality/480p mode. It seems to be RUclips's default quality settings.
I'm sorry to hear that. I've been really happy with my E10 so far... Definitely give this a shot and if you need help then reach out to me on Facebook.
Just a note to other Saturn users, I loaded the default rook file off the usb stick and it did not show the multi exposure stuff at the bottom. But I opened a CTB file from the latest Chitubox that was sliced for my Saturn and it DOES show the multi exposure stuff. I have yet to open a bottle of resin for my new Saturn until I learn all I can about what I see if I have any problems. Plus my work keeps me to busy to do any printing while not home during the week.
I really appreciate that input! Perhaps something about the file format has changed since the original test rook was created. 🤔 Thanks for watching and thanks again for the heads up!
Test files prior to ctb v3 will not work with this. You need at least ctb v3 file. Rooks at saturn are ctb v2. That's why your recent sliced file worked and rook don't. Most of the times UVtools hides things that are not supported by the file format.
got a saturn 3 ultra. I can load up the rook and get exposure settings. But i have another problem. How can i scale up the size of these prints? They print out so tiny where i can barely read any of the text even with a microscope.
love this video and when straight to get the tool to see why I'm having so many failures with my esun resin, even though my Elegoo Mars is on the list when i saved the file the printer could not read it.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay very first gen. no message just didn’t show on flash drive, and not just on the printer I could not find it using explorer, but for some reason it saved to file on my computer and then I was able to copy to the drive and print it. @@miricoleciona ah that's likely the issue. The Mars 2 Pro and Saturn are listed, but I don't see the Mars or Mars Pro. So they may not be compatible. However, it's definitely worth testing. After you create the test how are you saving it? I just added a new timestamp to the video. I talk about saving the file directory to your USB drive at the 7:21 mark in this video.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay I did it that way you show on the video and it just would not create the file. Thank you very much for this magnificent tutorial, I don't know how beginners would do it. I do yes. This video covers how to use the island detection and repair features. I also touch on the resin traps feature. ruclips.net/video/XRZIzwlvVks/видео.html
I am a beginner. I have a mono LCD resin printer. I also use Chitubox for the slicer. Recently I was happily printing and the printer stopped at layer 791 out of 1000 As an example. No messages or errors. Just stopped with the print sunerged in the resin tray. Is there a way to "resume" a print? Or just print the remainder of the print. and I could simply apply a touch of resin and the cure the two pieces in to one piece? Also, there are supports and the model is tilted.
Ugh that's such a bummer! Unfortunately, I don't know of an easy way to restart a print that's stopped like what you're seeing. Like you mentioned, your best bet is to measure and print what's missing. Also, I'd consider using a different flash drive. It's possible your drive is going bad and that's what caused the issue.
I desperately want to complete a full video series covering all the futures of UVTools. Unfortunately my time is limited right now. But in the future I definitely will!

hi, Great Video! I'm using the Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K printer. My question is it possible to change the layer settings individually? (ie. layer 1: exposure time 10sec, layer 2: exp time 15sec, layer 3: exp time 20sec...) with UVtools? I Can save slicer file in type of zip then extracting so editing g code file and change exposure times but my printer is not compatible with zip file. Thank you for your guidance.
Quick question, The exposure section seem to have changed and I can only control the brightness. I am setting it up for an Anycubic Mono M5S. Is that why the interface is different? I tried to slice a model using 3 different slicers (Anycubic slicer, Chitubox and Lychee)
It is compatible with Mac. I will be doing another video explaining how to install it. Sorry I didn't include that in this video, but I didn't want it to be super long.... I'll get the install video out ASAP!
huge thank for the video, helped me a lot ! quick question tho : is there an option to just scale the entire test bigger ? on my saturn it is coming very tiny. as well, how do you get the 2x3 layout ? mine come in a line of 6
I'm so glad to hear that the video helped you! I know another viewer asked this a few days ago. I had encouraged them to ask this question in the UVTools Facebook group. However, I just looked through the group and couldn't find their question. So I'd definitely recommend you join that group and ask about scaling the test there. They will have the best advice/input. As for how the tests are organized, I believe it just depends on build plate size. If the plate is pretty large then it will put them in a line like what you're seeing. However, on smaller build plates it will stack them to save space.
Looks useful but it doesn't work with FlashDLPrint and my Flashforge 9.25 6k printer doesn't work with anything else currently. I've tried making custom Chitubox settings but chitubox doesn't seem to like it when I try to add a printer cfg manually.
That's a great question! It's been a bit since I recorded this video so I'm not 100% sure if I coved that. In any case, you would read the results without curing. In my experience all exposure calibration tests should be read before/without curing.
Hey Slice Print Roleplay, should I concern myself with the testing? Because what I typically do is get the resin settings by model from the resin manufacturer and they have worked out pretty good for me with no issues. Well except me screwing up the casual supports here and there. LOL.
So the answer to that 100% depends on you. If you're happy with the results you're seeing then that's all that matters. I will never be so "Elite" as to say that you have to calibrate your settings. However, if you're having failures, your models are lacking details, or you're just curious then calibrating your exposure time is a great diagnostic step.
Considering this test is god tier what is your opinion on the test also being dimensionally accurate? I ask this as I've done this test and in well happy with results yet printing a articulating hinge is errm well no Bueno 🤣 any tips
To be completely honest I've not tested this to see how dimensionally accurate the results are. I believe they are pretty close. However, you can confirm with a fantastic test from J3D Tech. Check out their video below. ruclips.net/video/N6_9eTd7Qig/видео.html
HEY SPR, Allow me to begin by saying that I love your videos and have just about gone through and watched every video you've put out for Resin and most of the FFM vids, and I have a very serious question. Would you "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do an Updated video about setting up multiple test prints with various Exposure Times in the New/Updated Version of UVTools. I had used UVTools many times now to dial in multiple resins I've been purchasing but with the new updates I am just so lost... I'm sure I can't be the only person in the world with these issues, and there's no other videos on RUclips that have acknowledged this. Not to mention that I get the most out of YOUR tutorial videos. The way you set up the videos and explain everything with images/videos/clips/etc. just work for me and obviously many others. If you would be willing to do an Update to UVTools, the community would be very appreciative. Thank you in advance, now let's go print something! **EDIT** I have been resin printing on my Elegoo Saturn 8K, and the multiple exposure capability has worked up until UVTools had this recent update.
I really appreciate the kind words and encouragement, thank you! I'm really glad that my teaching style seems to be so easy for people to pick up on. I didn't realize the process had changed recently. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I'll try to take a look soon and see if I can do an update video.
Not a bother at all. I believe that it is compatible, but I don't have a Mono X so I don't know the exact process for it. I'd recommend looking for this question in the UVTools Facebook group. I know it's been asked and answered there a few times so you should be able to find the info pretty easily.
multi exposure test just wow ! this sounds amazing, I have to give this a try , that would be realyl amazing to print these tests all in one go, rather then keep swapping although, as you mentioned, you might get different results becasue the light / fep might not behave the same way on the edgees vs center I will be testing new exposure test, going with more thinner layer ( I have pretty good setup - I think - for 0,03 , but I want to try printing 0.02 now ) btw I wonder why you suggest to not cure these?
It is an incredible tool! I now I'm a bit less interested in a printer if I find out it's not fully compatible with UVTools. It's just such a great program!
@@SlicePrintRoleplay if the multi exposure works on Saturn2, I will let them know so that they can add it to the list of supported multi exposure and variable layer thickness can be quite a game changer, especially if the slicer will be able to auto-calculate it
I'm happy to report that multi exposure works on Saturn2 , i haven't run the actual print yet, only the test , but already exited , so great to run the various exposures all at once Although of course for best possible result it should be in the same position

@@SlicePrintRoleplay so I've printed the test and one thing surprised me, all the text is flippped ( read right > left, not left to right ) is it becasue of the orientation ? or was there something in the settings I haven't checked correctly? In the UV tools I atually see my image same as yours
I can definitely understand wanting the test blocks to be a bit bigger. Once you open up the Exposure Time Finder menu look at the options under the header, "Object configuration." there you will find tons of different settings you can use to change the size of the test features.
I believe the Mono X is compatible, but I don't have that printer so I don't know the exact details. Look in the UVTools group on Facebook, I believe the creator just helped someone with this exact question.
@@audiorazor okay the reason yours in in a line is likely because your build plate is much bigger then the printer I was using. As for the size of the tests, I don't believe you can adjust the size of the test details. But you can definitely ask in the UVTools Facebook group.

Congratulations that sounds like an awesome printer! I haven't seen that before. I would recommend posting in the UVTools Facebook group or on the UVTools Wiki. Make sure to explain what model your printer is. Also, if possible, post pictures of how the test come out.
Question, does the printer lift up Z after every single tile or does it the exposures for all the tiles in one layer from left to right and then lift in Z?
That's a fantastic question. So this used to be an option you could toggle on and off called, "Do not preformed the lifting sequence for layers with the same Z positioning." However, I believe that this option is now always enabled, but some printers do not support this feature.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay That's what I found on my Mono X. Maybe the Mono X is not supported for multiple exposures on one layer...At least a 0.01 Z lift should reduce the print time instead of regular full layer Z liftings.
I tried performing it on the Mars 4 Ultra, and the time keeps increasing, but it lifts at Z 0.05, resulting in printing a monstrosity@@SlicePrintRoleplay
@@williamgois6575 oh interesting! Did you post about your experience with that printer on the UVTools Gethub or Facebook group? I'm sure the creator will want to hear what new gen printers are compatible.

Not at all. There are SO many options that I just couldn't cover them all. Basically that setting just makes the test go faster if your printer firmware will allow it. If not it will simply print as though it wasn't on.
Hello all, I have an LD-006 and when I first got my unit the usb lost its format and well I need a test file to move forward. I understand my printer is supported so not sure if this is an issue or what I should do. I can't seem to fine the presliced Efile tower etc can someone point me in the rifght direction? Edit: FB group helped me out!
Sorry for the delay, but I'm glad you got it figured out! However, for this process you can use any file. I just recommend using the pre-sliced test file that comes with your printer since it will have decent settings. But there's no reason you can't get your slicer configured for your printer, slice a file, then use that file in UVTools.
Unfortunately it seems surface tension for this tester seems too much for the Photon Mono. So far only ended up with a handful of failed prints of the resin just adhering to the FEP rather than the bed after the bottomlayers were done. Which meant a lot of cleanup trying to cleanly remove the cured resin from the FEP without damaging it...
I believe Anycubic printers require a different process than what I show in the video. If you check in the UVTools Facebook group there are posts explaining the process.
Thanks for the guide but when I print the tests on my Saturn 2 they are tiny, about 1 x 1.5" for each test. I'm not sure they're meant to be this small as I can't even read the test summary in the bottom left. Do you know why this might be happening?
Hey man! Can you resume how to do this test with the latest software? There is now only "Multiple Brightness" in the Exposure Time finder, and not sure how to fill in the table there, it does not seem to square with the info in the video anymore..?
Okay so I updated to the latest version and tested it. Everything looks normal to me. So a few things could be going on. First, the file you're using, did you slice it with Lychee, Chitubox, or something else? For an unknown reason, files sliced with Lychee won't show the Exposure Time Finder function. However, files sliced with Chitubox work fine... Still no idea why. Second, what file type are you using? It's possible it's a file type that's not compatible with this function.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay One that came with the USB, and one with Chitubox.. and then an Expo Finder file one sliced by UVTools.. all do not have the same interface in latest version.. do you have a place I can send you screenshots..?

Convenient that I'm currently using an Epax E6.
It's a fantastic printer! 👍

Thanks for watching and thanks again for the heads up!
Test files prior to ctb v3 will not work with this. You need at least ctb v3 file. Rooks at saturn are ctb v2. That's why your recent sliced file worked and rook don't. Most of the times UVtools hides things that are not supported by the file format.
@@sn4k3PT thanks for clearing that up! I'll make a note about it above.

What Mars Printer do you have?
What was the error message you get when you tried to print the UVTools test file?
@@SlicePrintRoleplay very first gen. no message just didn’t show on flash drive, and not just on the printer I could not find it using explorer, but for some reason it saved to file on my computer and then I was able to copy to the drive and print it. I’m guessing from what’s been happening is that I’m having problems with things that are not perfectly centred on the build plate it gets a failure if it’s to the sides, I’ve tried levelling the plate time and time again but I don’t know what else to do, aside from trying to buy a new build plate.
@@miricoleciona ah that's likely the issue. The Mars 2 Pro and Saturn are listed, but I don't see the Mars or Mars Pro. So they may not be compatible.
However, it's definitely worth testing.

I have just tried this printing as I type thanks.

hi, Great Video!
Quick question,
The exposure section seem to have changed and I can only control the brightness.
I am setting it up for an Anycubic Mono M5S.
Is that why the interface is different? I tried to slice a model using 3 different slicers (Anycubic slicer, Chitubox and Lychee)

huge thank for the video, helped me a lot ! quick question tho : is there an option to just scale the entire test bigger ? on my saturn it is coming very tiny. as well, how do you get the 2x3 layout ? mine come in a line of 6
I'm so glad to hear that the video helped you!
Awsome!
It really is!
Looks useful but it doesn't work with FlashDLPrint and my Flashforge 9.25 6k printer doesn't work with anything else currently. I've tried making custom Chitubox settings but chitubox doesn't seem to like it when I try to add a printer cfg manually.
I'm sorry to hear that. 😞
I'm not sure if I missed it, but do you evaluate the results before the final curing or after?
That's a great question!
It's been a bit since I recorded this video so I'm not 100% sure if I coved that. In any case, you would read the results without curing. In my experience all exposure calibration tests should be read before/without curing.
is possible use this test with the creality halot one?
Sadly no. The firmware on the Halot series is not compatible.

HEY SPR,
Allow me to begin by saying that I love your videos and have just about gone through and watched every video you've put out for Resin and most of the FFM vids, and I have a very serious question.

Hi in the new version of UV Tools there is only multiple brightness test

@@SlicePrintRoleplay thank you. The answer is no. When chits decided not to let their boards interface with open source UV stopped supporting
@@hyperionhelios190 ah I see. Thanks for for the update!
How do u change the size and layout of the test
I don't believe that you can. But ask in the UVTools Facebook group to be sure.
multi exposure test just wow ! this sounds amazing, I have to give this a try , that would be realyl amazing to print these tests all in one go, rather then keep swapping
although, as you mentioned, you might get different results becasue the light / fep might not behave the same way on the edgees vs center
I will be testing new exposure test, going with more thinner layer ( I have pretty good setup - I think - for 0,03 , but I want to try printing 0.02 now )
btw I wonder why you suggest to not cure these?
It is an incredible tool! I now I'm a bit less interested in a printer if I find out it's not fully compatible with UVTools. It's just such a great program!
@@SlicePrintRoleplay if the multi exposure works on Saturn2, I will let them know so that they can add it to the list of supported
multi exposure and variable layer thickness can be quite a game changer, especially if the slicer will be able to auto-calculate it
I'm happy to report that multi exposure works on Saturn2 , i haven't run the actual print yet, only the test , but already exited , so great to run the various exposures all at once
Although of course for best possible result it should be in the same position
@@nosalis that's fantastic news! If you'd like to post about this compatibility in the UVTools Facebook group I'm sure the creator will update the compatibility list. Thanks for updating!
@@SlicePrintRoleplay so I've printed the test and one thing surprised me, all the text is flippped ( read right > left, not left to right ) is it becasue of the orientation ? or was there something in the settings I haven't checked correctly?
In the UV tools I atually see my image same as yours
i cant get these to fill the build plate i have an e10 but they print so small i can barely see the test results.
I can definitely understand wanting the test blocks to be a bit bigger. Once you open up the Exposure Time Finder menu look at the options under the header, "Object configuration." there you will find tons of different settings you can use to change the size of the test features.
Do I understand correctly that AnyCubic does not use ChituBox, so this calibration option is not suitable for Mono X?
I believe the Mono X is compatible, but I don't have that printer so I don't know the exact details. Look in the UVTools group on Facebook, I believe the creator just helped someone with this exact question.
how did you get yours to print in a grid? Mine wants to print in a straight line and very small
What printer are you using?
Saturn 2
@@audiorazor okay the reason yours in in a line is likely because your build plate is much bigger then the printer I was using. As for the size of the tests, I don't believe you can adjust the size of the test details. But you can definitely ask in the UVTools Facebook group.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay Thanks for the response. I find this test hard to use purely for the fact that it's so tiny. Shame really.
well just got my new 3d printer(mono 6k) and the squares came out(right size) but the squares had no details and it looks like the last layer was peeling, off, have you seen this before
Congratulations that sounds like an awesome printer!
So this used to be an option you could toggle on and off called, "Do not preformed the lifting sequence for layers with the same Z positioning."
However, I believe that this option is now always enabled, but some printers do not support this feature.
When uploading the test file into UV Tools, I get an error message :
" System Overflow Exception" and it closed the program. Any help about why I am getting this error?
Hmm I've not encountered that error yet. Are you using the newest version of UVTools?
What slicer did you use to slice the file you're importing into UVTools?
If you haven't, yet I'd highly recommend posting about this error in the UVTools Facebook group. Or on the UVTools GitHub page.
Is there any danger to running the multiple exposure 'without z lift for same height'?
Not at all. There are SO many options that I just couldn't cover them all.
Basically that setting just makes the test go faster if your printer firmware will allow it. If not it will simply print as though it wasn't on.
Help! Help!!
Why in my creality ld-002r the print stick to the moving plate but the numbers sticks to fep? What should I do?
My mistake, forgot to define my printer in UVtools.
Sorry I missed this, but I'm glad to hear that you resolved the issue!
do you have a tutorial video on elephant foot tool?
I am definitely working on that!
But there's no reason you can't get your slicer configured for your printer, slice a file, then use that file in UVTools.
multi exposure tab is not there for me I just down loaded the latest version
Hmm that's odd. Can you reach out to me on Facebook and send me a screenshot? I can help you a bit faster that way.
How did you get it to print in two rows? UVtools doesnt do this for me.
I believe it depends on the size of the printer you're using. Also, how many iterations of the test you're running.
I just wanted to recreate this, but unfortunately the function is no longer the same in version 4.0.4 - what a pity, I would have liked to test it.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to look into what/how it's changed.
Thanks for the guide but when I print the tests on my Saturn 2 they are tiny, about 1 x 1.5" for each test. I'm not sure they're meant to be this small as I can't even read the test summary in the bottom left. Do you know why this might be happening?
I'm having this same issue and cant get an answer on how to fix it.
Hey man! Can you resume how to do this test with the latest software? There is now only "Multiple Brightness" in the Exposure Time finder, and not sure how to fill in the table there, it does not seem to square with the info in the video anymore..?
Let me look into this. Thanks for the heads up.

@@SlicePrintRoleplay no worries, the idea of that program is really good. We just have to find a really good file to pull the settings from lol. I just love the idea of creating multiple tests at the same time with some preset values. easy to recreate just takes a bit more time lol
I have updated mono x firmware and I get a failed print with this, only the first 6 layers prints, I can get the stock RERF file to print everytime.
I apologize, but I don't have a Mono X so I can't test this and help figure out the issue.
But you can post this in the UVTools Facebook group. The creator of UVTools is really active there.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay I posted and already getting support from the creator! Thanks!
@@MegaTarre awesome I'm really glad to hear it!
so I clicked that link that you said was good but it just give me a bunch of random files and a bunch of numbers I do not understand
Are you talking about links in the video description or within Github?
This video may help clear things up.

"Multiple Exposures" seems to have been removed sometime between v2.13.3 (used in the video) and the current version. I downgraded to 2.13.3 and the option appeared.
I've had a few people say something similar. I actually just tested this and it works for me in the newest version.
So I'd recommend posting about this in the UVTools Facebook group. The creator is very quick to respond and very helpful. It may be that the file type for your printer changed in the newer version, but I can't say for sure.
Definitely tag me in your post because I'd like to know the answer as well. Thanks!
Is the Saturn compatible?
Yes I believe it's on the list of supported printers. However, you will need update your firmware to the newest version available.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay i updated the firmware and then run the test but my exposure times are always the same.
@@EUlordRofl hmm. So you're using the most current firmware that's available, followed the instructions for testing I have in the video, and it's not increasing the test increments by 2s?... That's odd. Let me see what I can figure out.
@@EUlordRofl someone just tested this on their Saturn for me and it worked correctly. They are using firmware version 4.4.1.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay Okay that's odd, could he provide a .ctb file? Iam also on 4.4.1
So, I am trying to create a test, I installed the latest version of UVTools, (I think only one release newer than in your video) but when I am in the Exposure time finder window, the option for multiple exposures doesn't seems to exist. I have tried using the release from your video, but the same thing. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
If not there, mean your printer not compatible. Which is?
@@sn4k3PT I'm geting the same thing. The tab isn't there as it is in the video.
Same here, the tab isn't there on a Phrozen Sonic Mini
