Bird did it all. He shoulda won series MVP. but the press gave it to Maxwell because Bird basically dissed the reporters after the games. He didn't want to get interviewed.
@@JayHemmsSports thanks for this, everyone remembers broken back Legend now- they need to see him before all the injuries took their toll, rookie season up to 1987, a dif player..
Larry Bird should have won the 81 MVP but from watching these videos I know he did not win it that year. They say it was payback for him being so hard to interview 🤷🏻♂️
bird dominated the east championship... had a rough start shooting in the finals... only averaged 15 points but he only averaged 23 that yr .. BUT. he lead BOTH teams in assists and steals.... and MOST important he basically matched the greatest rebounder of the era board for board.. he averaged 15.3 boards second only to moses at 15.7. THIS was the difference... bird was one of the few players who could dominate a series when his scoring was way off..
Maxwell won the MVP for the 1984 finals. He had more points than Larry, but they used that as an excuse for not awarding it to Bird. He was not an easy subject to interview and hated it. He would even hide after games until the press had found someone else to interview. It is just a part of his personality. He is a very private person and didn't like the way the press would interpret his remarks, so when he did give interviews they were totally on the game and nothing else.
Here's a fun fact The rockets entered the playoffs with a losing record .Other than the Lakers the west was trash during the 1980s.Larry should have been MVP n this series. He may have only averaged 15 points but he also averaged 15 rebounds, but the media voted and at this time they hated Larry.
I never really thought about it but Dr. J and Moses Malone had to team up before either of them could win the chip. Magic had Kareem. Bird led a mediocre team to the championship.
@@JayHemmsSports technically he was the starting power forward his first 5 yrs .. when he was on the floor with kevin kevin was the pf. but larry was just a forward.

It is so amazing that this was 1981. I was a teenager back then. It is still exciting watching this all these years later.
He is the Greatest All Around Player Ever!!!
Great video. Larry does it all
Thanks for enjoying the video 💯
Legend=🐐🐐🐐🐐

That would be messed up if it true that he didn't win Finals MVP because of him being so hard to interview 🤦♂

That game, Celtics won 98 -95... Larry scored 18 points, 21 rebounds, 9 asistences, 1 steal...

not 84. 81
@@brianholleran6340 Yes. I goofed. Thanks.
how long did it take for MJ and Labron to win a ring?

Watching Larry is just a reminder that black ppl appropriated HIS culture.
Eastern Europeans did (Jokic and Luka). Anthony Edwards and Ja Morant are still honoring the legacy of Dr. J.

Larry was robbed by not getting the finals MVP that went to Maxwell. Larry averaged 15 points and 15 rebounds for the series.
Averaging 15 rebounds in the Finals at the Small Forward position is INSANE 🔥🔥🔥

Larry Bird is just a dog, from the first time I watched this guy step on the court.
