Honestly I don’t think so. Maybe one Wimbledon with the right draw. I don’t think he would have done better against Federer, Nadal and some of the young guns in the era between 2017-2020 to win that many grand slams or big atp tournaments. You have to remember Federer nadal were on fire in 2017 and Novak comeback to top was already mid 2018. No way Murray would have won 3-4 grand slam from 2017 till now.

It’s a huge huge shame that he got injured in 2017, especially having ended 2016 on such a high note. If him and Novak were at full strength that year, 2017 would be have been one of the best tennis years, where all of the big4 could have reached the last stages of the slams similar to their dominance in 2011-2013. Great player though, just feel like he could have won more had he not gotten injured

A lot of people don't realize that Murray had the fastest sprint time from baseline to net on tour during his prime years. It's too bad the hip resurface took that away because the speed was what made him so good.
The only reason during his prime when he wasn't as unstoppable as the other big 3 was because his mental fortitude was not as solid.

    • @Ronanodea

I remember thinking when he was fully coming into his prime that his court cover was the best in the world, even better than djokovic at the time. And watching him return serve after serve was a joy to behold.
It's only just now, after watching this video that I've realised he's one of the greatest touch players we've ever seen too. The amount of 'impossible' pick ups I've just watched in the last 10 minutes is ridiculous.
A truly underappreciated player in a time of greats.
Also personally (this may surprise you) watching him growing up as a 'brit', one of the most likeable guys. Or I've just got the same dry/dark emotionless humour as him and I understand his sarcasm where others don't.
If you do like his humour I recommend watching Rob and romesh meet Andy Murray. So dry

So could someone explain why is everyone arguing about how good Murray actually is? He’s clearly a very good player. I mean a lot of the shots in this video were a masterclass in perfect placement, they seemed impossible to return. Why does everyone care as though they’re personally offended that he’s good? Not to discredit but he played Much more aggressive against Nadal for instance. Had to. Big 3 definitely made him get much better just to win a slam let alone be in the conversation of the top (all credit to him tho, could've been so easy just mostly give up/ say the top 2 or 3 were too much like most top players sort of... People forget he was Right behind the top 3 for years on end, yet they only focus on slam count/ who won most of the important matches. Understandable, tho definitely makes Murray overlooked/ seem less impressive than he was
But reading his autobiography (he wrote far too early in his career), clear he had the drive/ never wanted to lose, I'm sure he'd win probably 6-8 slams if wasn't for the big 3, since big 3 helped/forced to elevated his max level of play, hard to tell how much confidence/ how good everyone else would be without Fed/ Nadal/ Nole. Could imagine maybe Davydenko, Roddick, Delpo, Soderling, winning a couple or few

@@Dman9fp Yeah, I mean most slams he didn't lose to anyone else. Not quite at their level but for sure he was the closest.

Have I watched too much tennis when I can recognize the player by their grunt? Asking for a friend

I first read this as most incredible "sulk' moments. That would also make a good video as a young Murray was always whining about something.
