@@creed8712 filoni didn't work on andor which is maybe part of why it's so awesome. filoni's work isn't bad but including every character in every show really detracts from the scale of the universe, not including glup shittos was quite intentional on andor's part. even then one could easily say mon mothma is a human glup shitto and a significant portion of the plot revolved around her

Why do people pretend that Andor didn't have gratuituous fan service when there was an entire scene with oversized plastic holocrons, Galaxy's Edge props, and easter eggs that had no business being in that scene. That scene made Filoni seem anti-fan-service in comparison. Filoni couldn't top that if he tried.

some more context for you gonkatine is found on exagol in the lego star wars the skywalker saga and wants to form the knights of gonk because he was rejected from either the sith cultists or the knights of ren (i can't remember) and the once you assemble the knights of gonk they all go beat up whichever group rejected gonkatine and it some how isn't the best side quest on exagol( the best one being the bossfights against the failed snokes)

Oola is probably my favorite star wars glup shitto honestly. Those who don't know, the original actress refilmed new scenes for the special edition rancor scene and apparently was in better shape than she was during the original filming.
I wanted to talk about some of the behind-the-scenes information for the dancers, but that entry was getting very long. Reading about her actress was very interesting, and I'm pretty sure she was at a convention I went to once as well!
I feel like Oola doesn’t get the kind of respect she deserves despite being very important regarding alien first appearances

Ima-Gun Di is my favorite example whenever someone defends star wars names.
the kylo/kybo thing happened because Lucas had a list of names that he'd just jot down as they came to him. when he was done with the OT, he ended up letting the people working on the cartoons use all of his notes (fun fact, he considered Ewoks and Droids to be canon) both kybo and kylo were on that list.
later, when the sequels were in production, they decided to use the other one by pure accident

Pretty sure nearly all droids can feel pain. Even battle droids which would seem like you'd want them to not feel pain, absolutely do feel pain and even cower in fear sometimes.
@@mistabruhmoment8688 I know B1s in specific have a damage sensor so they know when they’re damaged but the animated show made a point to say they aren’t programmed to feel actual pain because “That'd be a pretty stupid thing to program into a droid designed for war”

31:45 There are more instances of names being changed. For example, Count Dooku is named Count "Dookan" in Brazillian Portuguese, because Dooku sounds like the words "Do cu" which means "from the ass". Jedi master Sifo-Dyas was renamed to "Zaifo-Vias" because Sifo Dyas sounds like the phrase "Se fodias" which rough translates to "Getting Fuck*d".
According to Guilherme Brigs, one of the dubbing directors, and also de voice of Han Solo, he explained that Lucas Films had this master document where they asked him to review names of characters, planets, etc, that way he could, quote, "warn them about happy little accidents".
The only Glup Shitto that surprisingly hasn't been mentioned here yet would be RO-GR
Outside of the freemakers he did appear in a star wars droids book that details background droids.

Listen. I just want to say that I wholeheartedly appreciate the work that you did with this video, and the previous glup shitto vid. I appreciate your candor regarding the star wars lore, both legends AND the canon.
So many SW essayists, no matter how great their videos are, often carry with them a smugness towards the canon star wars. "Disney ruined Star Wars" etc etc. I love the humor sprinkled throughout the video, and as someone who loved the legends books, seeing some of them make a cameo in these videos warms my cold heart.
10/10 I need to see more of your stuff for sure.
i love both continuities and there’s things to be criticized about both, and i’ve been making my way through books of both continuities. honestly, these glup shitto videos are a great excuse to learn trivia and know which books or stories i want to read next.

I feel like a lot of big expansive franchises like Star Wars have one crazy guy who wrote a bunch of stories that could potentially link them to celestial horrors, interdimensional rifts, and the real world. Michael Kirkbride does that sorta thing for Elder Scrolls, Warhammer has a ton of that stuff sorta just baked in, etc.
@@beytran70 Bionicle's lore can be summarized as "what if a big company gave one of those guys a big budget and told them 'go bananas, it just has to sell toys'". The Bionicle lore apparently goes really deep, even in the less-favorable years of the series. So it's another great example

My favorite glup Shitto is still Tyber Zann from Empire at War. Just a run of the mil Crime boss with a giant falcon man as a bodyguard who stole the emperors flagship and accidentally released an Army of ancient sith warriors. Man had so much dough that he could just buy Enemies

I’m not going to gatekeep what is and isn’t a glup shitto, but to me it should be someone that doesn’t interact with the lead characters or really have a speaking role. Like a max reebo is perfect, but the Naboo pilot ric ole doesn’t really count. That character is in like HALF the dang movie

Dude you gotta cover the Jedi Prince series. Even in Legends continuity, the series canonicity was dubious. I grew up reading those in middle school and the characters from that would be great for an iceberg. Also the Galaxy of Fear series characters too. There's just untapped potential of countless Glub Shittos from those 2 book series. 😂😂😂

Kybo Ren is such a weird villain because despite being such an inconsequential character who has NOTHING to do with the second arc of droids, he's also somehow the main villain of the second arc because the other two just instantly lost after one episode despite being more important. That whole show was such an oddity, would be perfect material for the third iceberg, particularly the lower levels.

Glup Shitto suggestion: Ratio Tile and Allah Gold from Backstroke of the West. If you've never heard of Backstroke of the West, it's a Chinese bootleg DVD of Revenge of the Sith where the Simplified Chinese subtilties were distorted and further mangled when translated back into English.

I think my favorite glup shitto is probably the "unnamed droid bounty hunter" who appeared for like 2 panels in a doctor aphra comic, he was a b2 super battle droid with the head of a bx commando droid, wearing a dark red cape. He looks so badass and you know he has a cool story to him, they just haven't told it.
I just really want to shout out you mentioning trans characters in both videos in an inclusive, respectful, and fun way. I’m trans and a huge Star Wars fan, and it’s really hard to find creators (especially on this platform) who not only tolerate but actually accept and highlight the representation in the franchise, so thanks, means a lot :)

Couldn’t agree more!! Any other queer fans looking for good representation, I HIGHLY recommend Queen’s Peril, Queen’s Shadow, and Queen’s Hope by E.K. Johnston, really great trilogy and so many well written characters, many of which are openly, canonically queer. Also where the clone trooper Sister debuted!
