Great Video! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Patlarny Priceless minutes Principle (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is an awesome exclusive guide for curing panic attacks minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my best friend Jordan at last got cool results with it.

A very helpful and insightful video. I had a panic attack once after a very stressful time in my life. It took me by surprise and I too thought the shortness of breath was a heart problem. It's hard to break out of the cycle of not panicking when it happens which only makes it worse. I felt a rush to my head and faintness too. I sympathize with anyone who suffers from this regularly. The out of control feeling is alarming and debilitating.

Panic attacks are difficult. I have to always remind myself to be mindful of my surroundings, focus on what is actually going on around me with all five senses, and then to realize that -nothing has changed- in the last five minutes to make me feel this way. It gets better with practice, but you have to always be mindful. I've had to go to the hospital one time because I couldn't breathe and I didn't know why. I know the feeling of that first "omg I can't breathe!". It's awful. I've gotten some help since then. :)

From personal experience, your advice is valid--normalize breathing, understand that it's not a death event, and displacing anxious, negative thoughts will mitigate a panic/anxiety episode.

I had my first panic attack yesterday and it was so terrible. I’m so glad that my boyfriend was with me to calm me down. I don’t know what I would have done if he wasn’t there. I can’t believe some people experience this so often. I hope I never have another one. I know you mentioned saying something positive out loud, but I couldn’t talk at all during mine. My brain was just screaming what I wanted to say, but my voice wouldn’t comply. Even after for a minute or two I was stuttering really badly. But he was so very understanding and he told me to take deep breaths so I finally was able to calm down. It was weird. It was like my body forgot how to calm down and take deep breaths and then once he told me to my body remembered how again. Sooo so scary. I’m glad you made this video. And I did feel weird and embarrassed. But I thank you so much for sharing your story and I hope other people feel better from this video too

I often have panic attacks when thinking about loved ones I lost (way too many). Perhaps a fear of my own mortality? I have found visualization of a calming scene helps, as well. Thanks for the great tips!

So nice to see someone talking about such a difficult subject. Especially I suppose for a man. Great advice and bringing it out into the open might help other sufferers understand that they're not alone and seek help :-)

Great advice on panic attacks. Panic attacks are often cased by intense fear within an individual. I agree with you that meditation helps in reducing panic attacks because it can help the mind become less fearful.

Had one when I was younger. Great shock (like it was for you). Didn't know what was happening and thought I was going to die. Made me seek help (a therapist that I already knew but had put off going to see) and that started a big change of life course that many years later has paid me back with results and mental wellbeing. Know what it's like though from having been there and wish everyone else well. Great, honest and open video Paul. Thanks so much for revealing...

I had a panic attack in a grocery store. It just hit like a ton of bricks. I had to leave my cart full of food and quickly leave. I became somewhat agoraphobic for a few years. I could still go to school, occasionally step inside a store, but mostly hung out at home. It was safe. I did get some counseling and managed to get over the agoraphobia.

I had panic attacks for a few years before I knew what was happening. One of the first ones I can recall was waiting in the lobby at a movie theater. It hit like a ton of bricks. Next thing I know I couldn't breathe. I started to cry and had to leave the theater. One of my worst experiences.
