    Love the chill delivery and information! My wife and I have an umbrella tree that is more tree than it is umbrella! I'm going to try and layer propagate to get rid of the 4 feet of stalk (term?). Thanks again for the help!

    Wow! I have a Gigantic thick cutting that the lady at my dry cleaners gave me. I mean HUGH cutting! I just put it in a vase of water about 3 mths ago. It's still beautiful & green and I just change the water occasionally. I just noticed it's starting to root. I'm just going to leave it a few more months until the roots get longer. Wish I saw your video before! 🌱🍃🌿💚💚

      That’s amazing! It literally takes months in water so I’m glad it’s finally making roots for you, once you start seeing roots they grow quickly! Put it in dirt when the root is about an inch long and it’ll go crazy lol

      Wow! Thanks! This helps me so much. This is really a Gigantic thick cutting. Her mother plant was in the Dry Cleaners and almost to the ceiling. She just broke off a Big piece for me when I told her how gorgeous the tree was.
      Thanks again!🍃🌱🌿💚

    I did propagate one large stem cutting of my 8' "tree" and previously read that a plastic cover should not touch leaves and also stem should not be cut with scissors - can crush stem. Mind you my stem was 1 and 1/2" across so had to use a very sharp knife. I tried two pieces of stem and only one propagated by soil method. Was so happy to have new growth (lots) on stems left uncut. I need to try again on another tall stem. Great help on your RUclips presentations.

    I have one of these that's about 8 years old, Ive always watered/rotated the plant, but never really pruned or used trellis' so now it seems a major prune may be the only option l.

      Yes pruning at least once a year is always good for this plant! Helps keep their growth nice and full without the leggy-ness

    I just propogated my umbrella tree today by taking cuttings and putting them in water. I wish I watched your video first! But so glad you've given me the heads up that it will take so long!
    Do you think time of year/temperature effects how long it will take to propogate?

    @Macksimize I just got a umbrella tree from a lady that's taller than me and I'm 5'5. It doesn't have small leaves like yours. I told my husband it was a grown man because the leaves are huge. Can I propagate it? I don't want to throw it away because it's so beautiful.

    • @Macksimize100
      @Macksimize100  2 года назад +1

      Yes! You can definitely propagate! For larger plants I always urge people to air layer propagate that way you don't have a huge cutting laying around awkwardly.

    Omg you're hilarious I'm so glad I found your channel! I got my schefflera about a month ago and it's super cute, it's got a really nice even rounded shape and I wanted to know how to keep it that way. Your plant is beautiful, of course, but I'm wondering if it's possible or if it will end up doing what it wants to do like yours? 🪴

  • @maleehaparacha3186
    @maleehaparacha3186 3 года назад +1

    Hi! Love your videos :) I have a schefflera which was been growing sideways for a while (since I bought it, sigh). The stem is straight for 11" and then veers off at almost 45 degrees. My inexperienced guess is that I haven't been rotating it frequently enough so it gets sun on all sides? I didn't think of using a trellis (maybe because it already has a short dowel, which ends just before it started to shoot off...) and didn't have the heart or guts to cut it as it kept deviating, but now the sideways portion of the stem is 9" long (so pretty top-heavy) and I'm not sure if a trellis would help at this point or if I should cut off and propagate the whole sideways part?

    • @Macksimize100
      @Macksimize100  3 года назад +2

      Hi! Thank you for watching! Ahh yes this tends to happen when you don’t rotate your plants every week or so, has definitely happened to me lol. I would recommend air layer propagating the wonky branch that way you don’t have to commit right away to chopping the whole thing off! Or you can very slowly train it to stand upright, start by using a trellis and moving it up straighter and straighter each week by an inch or so. This should retrain the stem but takes time :)

      Omg, this has happened to my plant which is 10 years old. The mother plant has two woody stalks and one has stayed pretty straight and the other one is going straight for about 10 inches and then wonky(about 45° also). I have a dowel however that is not helping and I am absolutely terrified to sever the plant into two, or even three, and attempt water propagating/repotting them. Even air layering, though I've watched your video about a dozen times, makes me so nervous. I don't want to hurt my child!
