Thank you for your detailed instructions. I needed to know if this could be done with a small gift plant that is now about eight years old & 8.5 feet tall and needs to be thinned and re-potted for more on my deck. Perfect and well done! Thanks again!
Very nicely shown the method and process of propagation of Schefflera plant in your place. In our place ,ie., in Assam, India this plant grow very easily just put one branch into soil , not only this plant ,most of the ornamental plant grow in Assam very easily, but here our people donot give any importance to those plants.
Wow, that is so interesting! I have propagated scheffleras without only cutting and soil( no root hormone) but they don’t root easily I have found here I. South Florida. They need root hormone or water propagation for best results. Thank you for commenting ! Wow all the way from India! 😀🪴
Michael, you really should do a giveaway with some of your babies. Shipping is very difficult.....so maybe just let those of use that live in Miami and can pick up the plant enter. hahahahaha meeeeee
Thats a great idea Marta! Currently I am running in so may directions working to build out the channel, but down the road, when I get caught up in vid production (editing is a huge time effort) I should!😀🪴
I never liked these plants until I saw yours. Every time I see them in the store I pass them up because they are small but when I see your large plants I get interested. So, next time I see one in the store I’m going to adopt it. Thank you!!!! PS there is no way I could sit on your balcony-too high and scary for me but I do enjoy the view from your kitchen.
Perfect video, thanks so much! I just brought a cutting from my sisters that I’m going to attempt to grow. Her plant is 45 years old 😮 Btw, where do you live? Gorgeous views😍😍
Oh yes you are so right! I have also done another propagation video on my channel using Schefflera leaf propagation in water. Thank you for the comment!😀🪴
Hi there! And yes, you can add the baby plant to mother plant. Scheffleras will do fine growing together. And by adding a baby plant back into the nest, you will get a fuller look to your plant. M
Hi! Thanks for the great, short videos on propagation and growing tips. I received 2 very thick sticks about an inch or more in diameter and 2+ feet long with just a few leaves on top. The seem to have little nodes all the way down, may be swelling into roots. I would like to cut them into pieces and grow lots to fill up a large pot. Do you know if just the stalk will root or not? Does it need leaves for food? Should I wait till some roots appear on the stems before cutting into pieces? I am thinking maybe 4 inch pieces, maybe 6. Thanks! Dawn
Hi, you have really thick & long cuttings, so I would cut them both in half to make 4. And since they are very large cuttings, I am concerned over dehydration of plant as it tries to grow new roots, so I think it would be wise to try 2 methods for root formation. Take one stalk segment with no leaves) + one segment with leaves- and root in soil as I show in video. The other 2 stalks I would root in water with Leca and then transfer to soil after they root. This way you minimize any loss for soil rooting method. Large stalks need just the right amount of moisture or the stalks can die- so water method will really help in that way, just takes a little bit more work. Hope this was helpful. 😀🪴
Thanks for this, You did not address the stalks lying on the table. Are these the same plants? Also, many people on Amazon have shot photos to compare older bottles of Superthrive with newer bottles to show the great difference in color: Old is brown and new is yellow. They also say the new does not have the same strong odor as the old. Some claim that someone is counterfeiting and selling the suspect version on Amazon. I bought mine last month at Home Depot and it is dark brown. Any opinion on this?
Hi! I believe cuttings was all from the same momma plant. As to Superthrive you make a good point. I have been buying it off and on for 25 years and never really gave it a thought as to color changes... but it does tend to get a bit brown over time, so good observation. I don't know if its old or if exposure to air is causing liquid to change color and I sure hope there are not counterfeits selling it out there.... that would be horrible. Hope this was helpful. 😀🪴
Hi there. I do that sometimes to create a certain layered look. You could say it's a mini garden design in a pot. Specifically, in the video you can see that for one container I combine the schefflera cutting with the baby sun rose, which is a trailing vine that cascades over the edge of container which I think looks so nice together.
Hi. Yes, Schefflera can easily propagate in water. I will be doing another video on propagating scheff in water in a month or so (from different parts of plant stem) so stay tuned!!!
LET'S GROW ! I tried propagating the cuttings in water but usually after a few weeks, the leaves start to turn brown and drops off! Have you experience this?
Hi there. yes, Scheffelera's will sometimes drop a few leaves when rooting in water. That is normal. But most leaves should remain on the stem. Do you change out the water? It's important to change out water every week so water doesn't get stale. And note that rooting in water can take up to a month or so before they develop enough roots to plant in soil. Hope this helps 😀🪴
Hi ! You must be reading my mind, because I will be creating another video on Shefflera care shortly. The Scheff Trinettes are doing well, I have even made some more cuttings for additional propagation and have repotted into other pots. thank you for your feedback, I have been getting many comments and emails about how to care for this plant. I will review the propagation updates in that video too. Regards M🪴
i swear i make every mistake possible in this life. i buy this plant and separate the three plants nicely, but then i severely overwater them and they are all dying, the roots died fast after that. Guess I will propogate a few pieces
I'm sorry. I hope your propagation works. Maybe try keeping your new propagated plants in shady area after propagation and water less (1 x week) but always check soil with 2 knuckle method to see if they are too wet/ dry. Hope this helps and good luck this time!

Hi there! Hope your cutting takes off! And I Live in Miami.😀🪴
Such a great video!🪴🪴🪴
Thank you so much
You can also root the first leaves that you removed at the beginning. They make smaller very nice plants for indoors or a small area.
Oh yes you are so right! I have also done another propagation video on my channel using Schefflera leaf propagation in water. Thank you for the comment!😀🪴
THANK YOU !!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching! 😀🪴
Great video as usual! Quick question about the green arbicola, could it be use as a hedge in Miami? If so, how tall would it get? Thank you
Yes, absolutely! Living color should have it in stock. Schefflera will get about 5’ tall but I have seen some at 6’ too. 😀🪴
Namaste ji Thank you🌹❤🌹 i am india 🇮🇳 Gurugram haryeyana
Namaste!!! I am glad you liked the video😀🪴
The schedulers has such a strong root system and so much of it that it's going to smother that beautiful plant. I wouldn't plant it there.
Thanks for the tip 😀🪴
Can you plant the cut top into the same pot with the parent plant? Thank you for taking your time to make this video!

Curious as to why you propagated into another species of plants container? Thanks

Because they look beautiful together 😊😊😊
Can schefflera be propagated in water only? Do you know if the roots grow faster in water or soil? Thank you
