Also, I too enjoy filming in the Natural profile quite a bit. Very pleasing on the S5. Though, I do see a difference between the profiles on the S5 and the G9. That said, I like them on both.
Thank you! 🙏 Good to hear you like my videos! I also like the Natural profile. I don’t own an S5, but I can imagine there is a bit of a difference. Hope to get my hands on an S5 soon.
Hi, thanks for your work in this video. I had watched it a while ago and I'm back today for refreshing my mind. Just a question : I had shot my whole hike in Nepal in the Natural Color Profile. I'm intending to edit and color grade a bit on Da Vinci Resolve. Do you think it's still worth it even though I shot it in natural, which doesn't give the best room for editing, or is it a waste of time? Many thanks. And merry Christmas!
Thanks for watching, again 🙂 You can definitely still tweak the image a little. Especially if you shot in 10-bit. Just try it and see how far you can push it. You can always reset it 😉
Didn't know there was a VLog assist with the G9. Thanks. I don't have VLog anyway :) I am more into photography than video but because the G9 is such a video beast I am having fun with b-rool shooting too. I am mostly using CineD, sometimes shifting to natural or standard depending on the lightning conditions. CineD generally gives the best results straight out of the camera and because it also offers post processing capabilities it is my goto profile.
Thanks for your comments 🙏 Yeah, the Vlog View Assist is great, if you have V-Log 😄 I agree with you about CineD. It looks great and gives lots of room in post.
Thank you Red for this awesome video! I have a G9 and exclusively shoot nature photography using Standard. I will definitely use your video to figure out how different profiles can benefit my shooting and for building my own profiles; especially using Vlog with the Vlog viewer. This sounds very cool. Liked and Subscribed!
Can you apply the 709 panasonic lut over the Cine D? I've been trying to shoot V log and applying the 709 lut over it and Im pretty happy with the results, but my b camera doesn't have V log and so I wanted to try Cine D. My goal is to match the images to be as similar as possible, when moving indoors/outdoors /under different lighting conditions without having to do too much tweaking. I just want to add a Lut and be done with it.
Hi. Applying the Panasonic 709 LUT on Cine-D is not going to give you good results, since CineD already is Rec709 basically. The best way to go is to create a LUT for CineD to match your V-log-with-709LUT. Takes a bit of work, but once you have it, it’s easy matching. What’s your B-cam?
@@RedFrameTech my b cam is a g7 but I will replace it with a gx8 since the g7 is broken. Either of these have v log like on my g9. Is there a lut for cine d? I am colorblind so it’s very hard to color grade haha
@@RedFrameTech thank you so much for the help and for the videos. I think I might have to just shoot cine d. Are there any luts just for cine d? Doesn’t have to match 709, just something to improve it a bit
Hi Sebastiaan! Again a nice video, you will reach 100 subs soon! I am filming at present in Standard, just starting to change to Cine-D, but not yet done. Let's see what will be the outcome...
@@miboraminima764 yes, the Synco G2 is a wireless microphone, which is a lot more convenient outside and can record straight into my camera and the XM8500 is more of a studio microphone that has to go into a separate audio recorder
Im trying to find your settings for Cine-D in the comments. By aany chance can you post them? After watching a few of your videos I'm going to use Cine-D on my GH5 instead of V-LOG for my japan trip. I leave in a week! If you dont respond in time no wworries :D As of now a few people seem to use -1, -5, 0, -1, 0.
I’ve got it set to contrast -2, sharpness, -5, noise reduction-2 and saturation 0. Works for me. But it’s very subjective. Play around with different settings and see what you like most. There is no perfect setting. Have fun in Japan!
I have a G9 too and, like you, I mostly use VLog L and Cine D. However I also have a G90 and I never use the Vlog L (even although it comes free with the G90 and you have to purchase it for the G9!) The 8 bit in the G90 just isn't suitable for Vlog, so I always use CineD for that camera and like the results. 🙂
I agree with you. I’ve owned a G90 as well. Apart from the crop in 4k video, I found it a very nice camera for video as well, but like you said V-log L isn’t a good choice on the G90 because of the 8-bit and Cine D is nice on both cameras.
Excellent video thank you brother
Thanks. You’re most welcome!
The graded footage from V-log is really good! I am purchasing that v-log upgrade, great video!
Thanks 🙏 yeah, V-log is nice to work with!
Thank you❤
Again, very helpful!
Fantastic video with tons of info about the profiles. My plan is to consume all of you content! Bravo👍

In a future video i will talk about that, yes

I used the PanaLeica 12-60 f2.8-4.0
varicam is probably why they called it vlog
You’re probably right.
I realised it a few months later 😄

The big problem with using a viewing LUT is that your exposure tools reflect the LUT rather than what you are recording.
Not necessarily. Waveform on Lumix cameras reads exposure of the log image, regardless of whether a viewing LUT is being used or not
Subbed :D
👍🏻👍🏻
