Dinayrore SMW Sorry during all the history you have actually 8 times :-) But the best song ever was Lapponia :-) fantastic song that really should have had first place :-)
So many great songs, like: Turkey 1975, Spain 1983, Turkey 1987, Finland 1990, Finland 1996, Denmark 2002, Malta 2006, Ireland 2007, Finland 2009 and Ireland 2013. They were so underrated IMO. :(
+misspoptart Does Europe have better taste today? If anything it's even worse. At least back then it was juries voting not kids voting for their neighbor country twenty times expecting the same in return.
some of them are really bad, but some of them are good!!! I like, for instance, Belgium(1993), Lithuania (94), Germany (95), Switzerland (98), Spain (99), Belgium (00), Denmark (02), Norway (04), Poland (08), UK (10), Switzerland (11) y Ireland (13).
Great video compilation thank you. Basically the categories are Reasonable songs being badly sung Bad songs being well sung and performed Songs in languages that only a few countries understand - might explain Finland and Norway. Technical problems weakening the performance - like the sound feedback issues that hit Jemini and was a part of the reason the girl singer was out of tune a lot of the time. and finally some reasonable songs / singers that were just plain unlucky on the night and didn't attract votes - that is the mystery category.
Oh Christ! My musical taste must be bad (as if i didn't realise that already by watching Eurovision vids on RUclips!) because from 2000 onwards i love most of the last placed songs! 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013....... BUT most of them did have a pretty shocking vocal / live performance. 2011 i don't get, love the simple performance, but that was a really strong year and was tight in voting. And the UK gave it lots of points so i'm not alone!
Actually, most of these songs are not bad at all. I mean - of course they aren't masterpieces of music, obviously, but you could say the same about winning songs too. It only makes me think Eurovision is such a random contest. A winning song could be last if the musician wasn't so lucky, or if the political climate were different at the time.
Turkey 1987 was a catchy up-beat song that didn't deserve the last place. More like top 3 of 1987. Spain 1983 wasn't a song for Eurovision but to say that it was anywhere near as bad as Turkey's song the same year is ridiculous. A decent song that was much too serious for the contest. Denmark 2002 didn't deserve last either. Average but there were several worse songs that year. Fact is the winner (Latvia) wasn't better. Finland 2009 wasn't *that* bad either. 2009 was a year with many good songs though. Great Britain 2003 and Germany 2008 definitely *did* deserve last place. And in 2000 Israel's "Be Happy!" song was easily the worst that year. How it ended 3rd last is anybody's guess.
Well, some of them did not ended last. These were last placed in the GRAND FINAL, but some entries did not made it to the grand final.. so some of these are the baddest of the best.
Poor Norway and Finland. :D Out of recent years, especially Switzerland 2011 had no business at the bottom, it deserved top10! Many other cases of major injustice though.
According to the official Eurovision website www.eurovision.tv the UK was distinct last place in 2008. Although UK, Poland and Germany all finished on 14 points, under tie-break rule they were separated as follows: Germany 23rd, Poland 24th, UK 25th (i.e. last place in the grand final).
My comments of the 2000's: 2000: Boring but the opening of the songs sound good. 2001 (Norway): One of my favorites this year. Maybe it sounds TOO GOOD for the contest?! 2001 (Iceland, not showed in the video): Another favorite, nice, smoothy melody to a good pop song. 2002: A little bit of a James Bond-feeling and she looks nice. Didn't deserve last place. 2003: HAHAHA!!! UK first last placed entry. But to be hoenst, she song is still better than Russias t.A.T.u. 2004: Why?! This sounds like a soundtrack made for a animated movie. 2005: OK. 2006: One of my favorites and I still like it! I blame on the pretty blend and slow preformance wich didn't match the song. 2007: Irish folkmusic sounds wonderful but I think the performance (and especially the singer) seems messy. It could have been so much better! 2008 (Germany): Not bad but nothing special. Why does people have such a big hate for girlbands in the contest?! 2008 (Poland): Beautiful. Lat place?! WTF??!!! 2008 (UK): Another favorite of mine even though the melody isn't 100% perfect. 2009: This was a big surprise for me. The song is awesome!
2008, Andy should NO WAY IN DEEPEST HELL have deserved last place!!! It's a great song, performed brilliantly live and studio, catchy and just all around great. Such an injustice for the guy :'(
I was so ashamed by the german entries in 2003 and 2008.... I was watching it with my family on tv and we just thought "What the hell is happening here" and honestly they truely deserved 0 points. But I can´t understand why we did´nt get any points this and last year.
Nicole & Hugo. The most loved losing Eurovision act ever. No - one could replace those purple platform heels and jumpsuits, the extra tall backing singer and three ladies in curly wigs - was the stylist on valium?? It is the definitive Eurovision losing moment. Never mind, their wonderful voices have stood the test of time as has their marriage - so they are the winners in the end and we all love them!
My comments on th 2010's: 2010: HAHAHA.....hillarious bad! Poor guy! 2011: This was one of the best songs, Switzerlands best entry in years! I still like it and it didn't deserve the last place. Anna sings perfect and the song is so charming that my heart melts. Poor Switzerland! You have me on your side ;) 2012: House-pop that sounds OK but nothing more. Wasn't my favorite in the norwegian national final at all. 2013: Like Finland 2009, this was a very big surprise for me. I thought this one was gonna be top 15 or something.
Come on. That song was light years out of the european culture. It shouted out miles away that this was last place material. Bad version of the american culture product. Nothing to do with our continent!
Spain 1983 doesn't deserved last palce. I lovelove Remedios Amaya ¿Quién maneja mi barca? In comparison with the ridiculous British comments and the wimpy presenter , she appears as a firework of passion.
As a British person, I still feel embarrassed seeing our 2003 entery, even 11 years on. Denmark didn't deserve last place in 2002. Think a lot of their songs are overated but this was so good. She looks a bit like Kim Wilde used to. Also like Spain 1999
1969 - 4 way tie for winner 1974 - 4 way tie for last I only now know this, and dang... a four way tie is rare enough , but one for first place and last only 5 years apart!
In my opinion, most of the songs do not deserve the latter place, for example, 1997 years, 1992, 1983, 1986 ...I wonder who will be the last in Vienna in 2015 ?
the fact the last place of 1986 is my 2nd of 1986, I really like Tora Zo 1999 Spain is also my 4th of 1999 Belgium 1993 isn't actually bad Denmark 2002 is heavily underrated is great for 2002. UK 2003 is actually alright, just poor vocals. Malta 2006 could be good if better vocals Poland 2008 is so beautiful and didn't deserve last. UK 2008 is also good and didn't deserve last place. Finland 2009 also is okay, not deserving a last place. Norway 2012 is again good just with poor vocals, good performance. Ireland 2013 - predicted to do well, went last in running order, was actually pretty good - what the hell went wrong?
This wouldn't be a ''last placed'' list without Lithuania :DD WTF, never thought that Scandinavian countries (especially Norway) didn't have much luck in the early years of the contest.. Really was suprised with the worst songs in 2012/2013, I really like those songs :p
Finland, Austria, Finland, Austria, Finland and if not that Belgium and Norway along with the inevitable Maltese pair in the earliest period. Funniest, the purple flares in 1973 and the Finnish group with early - mid 80s shoulder pads and mullets and Miami vice suits in 1990. Like that song I wanna love u tender" what is ist with the Finish people. This was hilarious.
Quite a few (okay, three or so) decent songs. I really liked Anna Rossinelli's song, but it was already a surprise that it qualifies. Apart from that Turkey 83 and an even earlier Finnish song were actually quite decent. But most of them were forgettable at best, unforgettable at worst.
I still do this day don't understand why 2006 Malta was last it was a good song .. UK 2008 really was a good and one of our best ones we had out for eurovision but then again I think a lot people from other countries have issues with the UK song.NORWAY 2012!! WHY WAS THIS SONG LAST ITS AN AMAZING SONG!!
Bar Jemini, which was bad because of 'technical difficulties', the rest of the songs are okay but forgettable. It's not a good sign when the costume choices upstage the song. Like the purple flared catsuit couple and that lady clad in deckchair material. And the times the UK came last - absolutely deserved every single time. Josh was so forgettable that even he has forgot he came last in 2010.
Yay! The UK gets last place… what a surprise :o no sh1t, we're terrible at Eurovision. On the other hand, Ireland 2013 didn't deserve last, it was actually my favourite that year.
Hey, now that's an interesting compilation. 1995 and 2005 and 2008. Hm. Thought Germany could book more than three last places, Oh well, those were all rather deserved, well Gracia was a bit unlucky I guess. Poor Finland.
WTF why do Norway and Finland end up in last place so often? Haha Also Norway in 1981, I never even knew that song was in Eurovision. That's like a big classic here in Norway.
I wonder how much it has to do with the languages, and how alien they sound to most Europeans. It would also explain in part why the United Kingdom and Ireland did so consistently well in those days.
FINLAND! SIX TIMES! I'm so proud of my country...
:DDD Me too. :D But we have 1 winning time. Lordi. :D
man i guess it's finnish-ed?
Austria seems to have been there at least as many times as Norway and Finland... ;)
florenna Austria got last 7 times, Belgium 8 times, Finland 9 times and Norway even 11 times!
Dinayrore SMW Sorry during all the history you have actually 8 times :-) But the best song ever was Lapponia :-) fantastic song that really should have had first place :-)
Spain 1983 is amazing
My favorite entry from Spain
RIP Norway
2011: my second fave ends up last in the finals and my fave ends up very last in the contest...fuck that year.
zarko stanic worst year in eurovision
So many great songs, like: Turkey 1975, Spain 1983, Turkey 1987, Finland 1990, Finland 1996, Denmark 2002, Malta 2006, Ireland 2007, Finland 2009 and Ireland 2013. They were so underrated IMO. :(
Turkey is very underrated before 2000's
***** I like both of them. :D
1999 Spain? Where?
Ulusal jurilerde hep bir Türkiye alerjisi vardı.
Turkey 1975 and Turkey 1987’s songs are great 💖💖💖
So many good songs and artists, competition is a lottery...
I certainly am: I find the Lithuanian song of 1994 really beautiful. An underrated entry!
Even the last place finishers sound good to me.
ExclusiveLM Now that WWII stuff can be pretty interesting to me, I watch many.
Lina Llorente That is the biggest complaint against Eurovision that I have heard.
the entry is Turkey 1975!!! we are still listening darling. this is really good love song
"Antes do Adeus" - possibly the most shapeless song I've ever heard.
It's actually a verry good song when you listen to it a second time.
Every single clip from Finland in this video made me laugh out loud. Amazing! :D
Mata Hari should be among the cult Eurovision entries of all time ;)
Yeah it is so good
Finland 2009 and Switzerland 2011 and Norway 2012 and Ireland 2013 are SO underrated!
Poor Semiha from 1975 was robbed. "Seninle bir dakika" is a beautiful song. Europe had no taste back then, man!
+misspoptart Does Europe have better taste today? If anything it's even worse. At least back then it was juries voting not kids voting for their neighbor country twenty times expecting the same in return.
The Cyprus situation made it so that that happened. So politics.
I think I have to agree with you... I don't know why anyone would have thought that dress was a good idea.
In my opinion all of these deserved last place except Switzerland (2011) and Ireland (2013).
some of them are really bad, but some of them are good!!! I like, for instance, Belgium(1993), Lithuania (94), Germany (95), Switzerland (98), Spain (99), Belgium (00), Denmark (02), Norway (04), Poland (08), UK (10), Switzerland (11) y Ireland (13).
Switzerland 2011 was lovely, didn't deserve last place
Great video compilation thank you. Basically the categories are
Reasonable songs being badly sung
Bad songs being well sung and performed
Songs in languages that only a few countries understand - might explain Finland and Norway.
Technical problems weakening the performance - like the sound feedback issues that hit Jemini and was a part of the reason the girl singer was out of tune a lot of the time.
and finally some reasonable songs / singers that were just plain unlucky on the night and didn't attract votes - that is the mystery category.
finland in 1996 should not have placed last!! an awsome song!!
Denmark 2002 really didn't deserve last place. Wonderful song!
You say that, but 2011 was the weakest year for me, along with 2001.
2010 .... that song really had it coming
they were really overconfident after Jade Ewen
Actually, most of these songs are not bad at all. I mean - of course they aren't masterpieces of music, obviously, but you could say the same about winning songs too. It only makes me think Eurovision is such a random contest. A winning song could be last if the musician wasn't so lucky, or if the political climate were different at the time.
Politics aren't always a factor... was Ireland that good in the 90s???
1975 Turkish entry very very very underrated all politics at that time
Turkey 1987 was a catchy up-beat song that didn't deserve the last place.
James Shunt Turkey 1987 Turkey :( My top 3
National juries never ever like Turkey. This is the main reason of why Turkey doesn't join esc anymore.
Ryan from Ireland didn't deserve last place at all, he was a really good singer! (2013)
I agree, Ryan Dylan had a very good song and performance, just the year before Tooji with stay, they didnt deserve to finish last
His singing was really off-key.
Aw, but I loved "Cry Baby". 😢
Turkey 1975, Spain 1983 & Turkey 1983❤️
Poor "Mata Hari", it's the most underrated song in all long Eurovision history.
MAMAMAMATAHARI :D
We Turks still listen "Seninle Bir Dakika" .. And we know she didnt deserve this result..And we proud our first entry in Eurovision Song Contest !
I dont understand switzerland 2011. It was my favourit
I don't know, but I feel because the song has a little "plagiarism", I believe hear the chorus in other place but I don't remember where.
poor Norway so many lol
I love 2002, 2003, 2008, 2009 and 2011 songs!
But the last place is better than nonqualification in the final!
Well, some of them did not ended last. These were last placed in the GRAND FINAL, but some entries did not made it to the grand final.. so some of these are the baddest of the best.
Portugal's entry of 1974 was a really wonderful, great song!
So many songs that definitely deserved better 😢
I quite liked the Spanish song about her boat but I loved Josh Dubovie in 2010, I am probably the only person who liked it!
You're not alone on Josh Dubovie, don't worry!!
formulacountdown i liked it too
i remember thinking in 2002 that denmark would easily finish in top 5
I never knew Daniel Agust participated in Eurovision (7:35)! He is now a member of a top Icelandic band GusGus.
Ireland in 2013 and Switz in 2011... both well meaning , sung well - robbed of higher placing!
Poor Norway and Finland. :D
Out of recent years, especially Switzerland 2011 had no business at the bottom, it deserved top10! Many other cases of major injustice though.
norway's 2012 didn't deserve the last place
Finland 1996 is My favorite
According to the official Eurovision website www.eurovision.tv the UK was distinct last place in 2008. Although UK, Poland and Germany all finished on 14 points, under tie-break rule they were separated as follows: Germany 23rd, Poland 24th, UK 25th (i.e. last place in the grand final).
Really liked Switzerland 2011
Very interesting video. I have to admit that there are many songs I like among the last placed ;-)
2011 I love that song :(
1973: Belgium. What were they thinking?
2003 What were THEY thinking?
Belgium 1973 is one of the best here imho.
Oh liven up, it's funny!
My comments of the 2000's:
2000: Boring but the opening of the songs sound good.
That poor Norwegian woman who came last in 1974 and again in 1976!
Strange to think the not only the fact that some of these countries got by the semis but also GOT PICKED by their nations
I think that the last one in final has done better than the last ones in Semifinals.
Funny how 'loose control' by Waldo#s people was my fav in 2009. Still listening to it occasionally today~
Last place of Switzerland in 2011 is just a joke >_
Can I just say that there are not enough words to describe how much I loathe Eurovision
I loved Switzerland 2011!!! It should have been in top 5 in my opinion
Nicole & Hugo. The most loved losing Eurovision act ever. No - one could replace those purple platform heels and jumpsuits, the extra tall backing singer and three ladies in curly wigs - was the stylist on valium?? It is the definitive Eurovision losing moment. Never mind, their wonderful voices have stood the test of time as has their marriage - so they are the winners in the end and we all love them!
finally something finland is good at!
OMG thought the same XD
My comments on th 2010's:
2010: HAHAHA.....hillarious bad! Poor guy!
2011: This was one of the best songs, Switzerlands best entry in years! I still like it and it didn't deserve the last place. Anna sings perfect and the song is so charming that my heart melts. Poor Switzerland! You have me on your side ;)
2012: House-pop that sounds OK but nothing more. Wasn't my favorite in the norwegian national final at all.
2013: Like Finland 2009, this was a very big surprise for me. I thought this one was gonna be top 15 or something.
2010 was wrote by those lovely chaps Stock, Aitken and Waterman; who were responsible for Kylie and Jason, and all those others in the 80s
Null-point Teigen suprises me, I find him great xD and Belgium 1973 makes me really SAD - it's one of my fav esc entry ever:O
1978 Norway jasus that poor
I actually liked that entry by that mad crazy Spanish lady from 1983 singing about her boat being stolen.
1975 Turkey and 1999 Spain are really good songs. I'll never understand why they're the last instead of the top three.
Actually the songs after 2004 we can't Say Last placed for them because they all qualified for the final except "Big 5" and owners(only austria)
aaaaaaaaa my head ! I resisted 3 minutes and couple of seconds
Cyprus 1986 is one my favourite songs.
I DON´T UNDERSTAND WHY NORWAY WAS LAST IN 1997! The song was very good
Come on. That song was light years out of the european culture. It shouted out miles away that this was last place material. Bad version of the american culture product. Nothing to do with our continent!
Please read the description before commenting on how the results from 2004 and onward are wrong, thank you.
Spain 1983 doesn't deserved last palce. I lovelove Remedios Amaya ¿Quién maneja mi barca? In comparison with the ridiculous British comments and the wimpy presenter , she appears as a firework of passion.

Aaah, UK 2003 was so painful to watch. From every possible little aspect.
1969 - 4 way tie for winner
1974 - 4 way tie for last
I only now know this, and dang... a four way tie is rare enough , but one for first place and last only 5 years apart!
In my opinion, most of the songs do not deserve the latter place, for example, 1997 years, 1992, 1983, 1986 ...I wonder who will be the last in Vienna in 2015 ?
the fact the last place of 1986 is my 2nd of 1986, I really like Tora Zo
1999 Spain is also my 4th of 1999
Belgium 1993 isn't actually bad
Denmark 2002 is heavily underrated is great for 2002.
UK 2003 is actually alright, just poor vocals.
Malta 2006 could be good if better vocals
Poland 2008 is so beautiful and didn't deserve last.
This wouldn't be a ''last placed'' list without Lithuania :DD
WTF, never thought that Scandinavian countries (especially Norway) didn't have much luck in the early years of the contest..
Really was suprised with the worst songs in 2012/2013, I really like those songs :p
portugal came last in 74, but i don't even care, because that song is one of the songs that got us free from decades of a dictatorship
To be fair, its a fine line between the very worst & the very 'best'. They all sound pretty much the same to me.
The most underrated was Paulo de Carvalho
Spain 1970 (Julio Iglesias - Gwendolyne) is the most underrated and the BEST Eurovision song ever!!
Eurovision Gwendolyne from Greece μαζί σου!
Denmark 2002 was a great song! Pity last place
Happy i missed 2008 to be honest.
UK has done amazingly badly over the last 10 years!!
I actually enjoy Venedig im Regen quite a lot to be honest, it's pretty catching.
Norway last in 1981 was a crime..
+christarasole It wasn't powerful and there was no great melody
Timo Herrmann no great melody?nice one..
1987, Total gangnam style lol
So sad they we're placed in last positions
And Huilumies is still my 12 points of 1980!!!!
Oh wow, Spain (my country 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸) appears less that I thought
Quite a few (okay, three or so) decent songs. I really liked Anna Rossinelli's song, but it was already a surprise that it qualifies. Apart from that Turkey 83 and an even earlier Finnish song were actually quite decent. But most of them were forgettable at best, unforgettable at worst.

Ireland 2007 and UK 2008 both deserved better than they got.
Switzerland did not deserve last in 2011
Hey, now that's an interesting compilation. 1995 and 2005 and 2008. Hm. Thought Germany could book more than three last places, Oh well, those were all rather deserved, well Gracia was a bit unlucky I guess. Poor Finland.
Oh. I forgot Cindy & Bert 1974, how could I. :P
WTF why do Norway and Finland end up in last place so often? Haha
Also Norway in 1981, I never even knew that song was in Eurovision. That's like a big classic here in Norway.
