My favorites are the Midland Railway 1532 class tank engine, the SR USA class, the Norfolk Western Class J, and the PRR S1. I prefer the S1 over the T1. The S1 was basically America's Bullet Engine.
And you're about to have an even better adulthood in a decade.

As someone who’s favorite class of locomotive is the FEF-3 I can assure you I DID NOT grow up on the west coast.
The LNER class A4 is my favourite I saw it in that exact museum in the picture
Flying Scotsman has so much style. And yet, she's also fiercely good at her job.
Southern Pacific's Cab Foreward, for going through tunnels in the Sierra mountains. There's one left at the Sacramento rail museum. It's pretty badass.

Haha, I’m on the west. I do like FEFs in general, but the -3 is my first pick of the 3.
@@craftyalex2024 I like the more utilitarian look of the FEFs with the centered headlight, no mars light and no elephant ears. I actually really like the look of the "war baby" N&W J too, for similar reasons. Those are some handsome brutes.

Well i must be an anomaly because being born and raised in Poland, my favorite locomotives are those "Kriegslokomotive" class BR52 of the invading german army. Polish post war version of course.

I’ve got to make a crossover comparison here, the UP FEF-3 isn’t a “West Coast” thing. I would say that your other video mentioning the SP GS class is the standard west coast favorite. I live in the town that used to be the halfway stop for the Daylight route, where the GS engines were serviced and switched out for the next half of the trip. I would love to see 4449 down here again, but UP says no.

I just love the steam locomotive, it’s always so thrilling seeing them roll down the line
I didn’t just grow up on the East Coast. I grew up less than an hour away from where they saved that beautiful J Class. Still have yet to see her sadly

I'm guessing the Double Fairlie would be like the British counterpart to the Shay. Either that, or that you're somebody that's pround of basically being fascinated by all things bizarre.
Since we're talking about old locomotives, I as a Serb, really like our old and rusty RVR locomotive and carriage sets. They were made in the Riga, in the ancient year of... 1980.

My favourite locomotives are Are the E2 and gwr 14xx (or 1400) class
So basically it’s only steam locomotives. You should do one on modern diesel locomotives
I can step one up, the shay isn't just my favorite, I've worked on one, West side Lumber Co. 9, helping with the insulation of the steam dome (its insablock).
I wouldn’t say someone who likes the Big Boy is basic. Just because it’s a well-known locomotive due to its size weight, there are much more well-known locomotive. I like the Big Boy because of its history. And yes, I do know a lot about it’s history, like how #4005 was converted to oil and then converted back not long after, and how they were originally meant to be called the ‘Wasatch’ class, but the name was changed when an unknown worker at the factory where they were made wrote ‘Bug Boy’ on an axle rod in chalk.

I love D&RGW 485 which is the only locomotive in it's class to be scrapped and it was only because it fell sideways into the turntable pit

Despite the fact that I’ve always lived in the Midwest for most of my life 844 is my number one favorite existing steam engine. I guarantee you though if old classics like the New York Central Dreyfus Hudson (or probably any of the NYC Hudson‘s for that matter) The Milwaukee Rd., Hiawatha the New York Central mercury or the Pennsylvania T1 had survived it’s likely 844 and 4014 would be a lot lower on my favorites list. That being said I really hope the T1 project succeeds if they are able to run it it would quickly become one of my favorites
