I'm so glad seeing Overkill with Bobby back then in 89 promoting "Under the influence" supporting Slayer. Kicking Bobby out, was Overkill's biggest mistake. What a great and unique thrash guitarist.
Paulo....you did a great job! What a treat for you to get to share the stage with Bobby! I didn't want you to think I was cutting your performance. cheers! Stay metal rock on!!
No worries, man! Like you said it was indeed a treat for me and the whole band to share the stage with the master. Thanks for watching! there's more videos running around actually. Hail Overkill!!!
Overkill was my 1st metat/rock concert, unless ya count Kiss when I was like 7-8, they played the "Timberwolf" at Kings Island (it was the equivelent of Riverbend at Coney Isle of that time). I also remember (u still still find em on YT) clips of Metallica on the Justice & Black album tours with James Het & Bobby G drinkin & clowning in hotel rooms. So James had Bobby on the road with him. Good friends, maybe techin for him? Bobby "was" O-kill on those first 2 albums. They're still 1 o my fav bands, & the guitarists now are great, but it would be cool to see BG onstage with em again, even if it's just for a few songs
Gustafson combines great songwriting skills and was hugely admired by Hetfield for his heavier and crunchy aproach to thrash (just listen how guitar sounds on Under The Influence). They are good friends, still to this day. Check out his new band HAIL MARY with his former Overkill bandmate - Sid Falck, great man & great drummer.
Sounds better than Blitz?? You guys must be friends of the band, cause your crazy if you think this guy is better than Blitz. He did a nice job, but C'mon already. Blitz is one of the best frontmen in thrash period! Bobby G is insane! Wow, wish he woulda been able to work stuff out with DD.
Every opinion is always welcomed. No one can replace the great Bobby Blitz. To this day, he still can deliver and forever be an influence for me. My goal as a singer that night was not to simply imitate him but to capture the Overkill feel, and being the die hard fan that I am, I just couldn't mess this up. Of all the tributes I've been a part of, this has to be the toughest and FUNEST I've ever done. And of course Made of Metal thanks Thrash Godfather, Bobby Gustafson for joining us that night the true head bangers miss him! Thank you for watching the videos!
Paolo Velazquez You nailed it and made it look effortless. That's must take a toll on the pipes. I know Blitz realized early that he had to take care of his voice. One of the best vids I've stumbled onto in a long time.
Paolo Velazquez I like the little detail of rolling the R on gutter at 5:35. Blitz does that sometimes and it's cool that you picked up on things like that.
Ain't nothing like the one who wrote it playing it live. Loved Overkill with Bobby. After it just kinda stopped sounding good. Especially their attempts to carry on The Nightmare. Sorry, but those clowns wouldn't understand Bobby's genius and direction it was going.
I just randomly come across this. Awesome. Miss Bobby in Overkill. The band just produces generic thrash now which is usually a sign of a lack of vision and musical skills. The singer in the band is pretty bloody good as well. Sounds like a young Blitz.
