Cassie, wood heat drys out the air which causes your sinuses to dry out. This causes runny noses. Try putting a pot of water on the stove to help with the irritation and moisturizing the air. I had the same problem.

You are right! Our other home we had an old fashion wood burning stove and we kept an iron kettle on top of it to keep moisture in the house. We had to downsize when my husband developed cancer we had to downsize, so mowing, cleaning the house was more manageable for me because I have a condition for thirty years where walking and standing is very difficult for me. The older I get the worse it gets. Walking very very very difficult for me. Miss our other home but it is what it is.

    What a beautiful story.
Mazzy was a gorgeous baby and has turned into a beautiful young lady.
I agree...not everyone is into the same thing. God made us individuals for a reason. I love how you explained what you do with your kids chore wise on the farm and it makes perfect sense.
You guys do an amazing job raising your children and that its in a Christian home is a bonus. Love watching you all. ❤

Oh that sweet little Mazzy! I would never know that she’s overcome so much. That speaks loudly about mom and dad. I adore that sweet young lady, as I do her rambunctious brothers. I feel blessed that you give us the option to watch them stretch their little wings and grow. Y’all have a blessed day!

When I first started watching, I didn't know about the adoption. I observed that she had special needs or fears. What I did notice was the grace in the ways you handled her and not "making" her but waiting until she was ready on her own. I remember about the day she wanted to have her ears pierced. You had no idea whether it would happen that day or not. I admire your patience in helping her overcome her fears and encouraging her to pursue her interests. The violin, the recital, the choir and singing a solo part; she has come a long way! God certainly matched her up to the right parents.

Thank you for sharing sweet Mazzy’s story! As a parent of a son on the spectrum with sensory processing disorder, I can confirm that you really have to let and encourage them to be themselves and you HAVE to give them the space to do it while giving them a soft and secure place to be at home. Your family is a shining example of WONDERFUL parenting. Love you guys! ❤

Awe so sweet i never knew they were adopted! My cous8n and i alwas said we were or should of been switched in a lot a bit country and shes a little bit country but a lot a bit city!! I did lots with my grandpa's and uncle her dad on the farm and shed rather do all city stuff with my dad and mom and sibs. i played hide and seek in old stinkys corn crib pen. Even though we were told to stay out. I just snuck under his fid bin and layed low yeah it smelled bad cause when girl goats get ready boy goats pee on them selfs and smell and stink bad well yep i rub on his coat to get under their to hide. Lets just say the 2 hr ride home was not fun for everyone they kept saying you smell like old stinky ! I said thats what farm goats hay straw uhorses and chickens smell like momma dont you and daddy dont you remember?
So in the summers my cousin and i would trade weeks except i would get 2 weeks one with both grandpa uncle and then a week help on other grandpa farm. I still help friends now on farms when i can.

We lived on a farm from when I was in 3rd grade through 7th grade. I was forced to be outside to help 2 of my brothers do chores and work in the garden. Both of our parents left for work at 6:15 a.m. My older sister did all the house work and took care of my youngest sister. My younger brother was always at our grandparents because he was sick so much. Today I hate being outside and don’t want anything to do with animals.

Just saw your piece about how Maxie became a part of your family! I
In 2012 I became guardian for 8 of my grandchildren. (I was 66). It’s been a struggle with loosing my parents my husbands mother and 5 years ago my wonderful husband!
I am now mother of 2 children who are 12 and 16, it’s been a trip. Pray for you daily. My youngest is the age of Ranger and has the sensory problem Maxie deals with so I truly understand. He is a girly boy who likes makeup and jewelry pops forgot the fake nails. But he has actually shared a Reese cup with a wild buck deer in our front yard. Loves being creative.
Keep up the good work. God bless all of yoy

My Pastor and his wife fostered to adopt. Their oldest was adopted. Just before Thanksgiving a few years ago on a Sunday morning they got 3 young girls with the oldest one 3 years old. As a church family we rallied around to get everything they needed. They have now adopted them along with their little brother. It's a pleasure and joy to watch them grow since they are friends and neighbors.

My aunt fostered babies for a time, but found it took it's toll emotionally. She started baby books and kept a journal for each one she had. The longest she had a newborn was 6 months, I think the shortest was about 3 months. Several didn't want a thing to do with her, she didn't get any follow up on them and they barely acknowledged the baby book (with pictures) and daily journal. Two families kept in touch and she was invited to their graduation and later wedding. The parents were so grateful for the journals. One little girl had horrible colic. She was adopted like a week after she finally started sleeping through the night. :-) Go figure!

My daughter was a single woman nearing her 40's and wanted to be a mother. She did foster to adopt. So she went through similar paper work and training. We went through Texas foster system. We got our precious girl just after her second birthday. She had developmental delays. She was non-verbal and verbal delays. But she caught up quickly. She is in second grade. She had straight A's last 6 was. Once she started talking she never quit. She is lovable 💖 and cuddalble. Look into the experience. It is wonderful.

Loved the video of Mazzie. So cute!!
Please keep my sonnin law Zach in prayers. He's in ICU and can't figure out what's wrong. He buried his maternal grandfather on Saturday. Sunday he took a shower as he said he didn't feel well. He came out and started making no sense. They took him to hospital in Joplin. He collapsed in the waiting room after yelling and seizures on the floor. Came out fighting and making no sense. He was sedated so much had to intubate him. They reduced the sedation and got the tube out Monday. He's still combative if someone wakes him but my daughter explains everything to him, he calms down Tests all are fine so far. He's lost weight without trying. Not sure what is wrong. They have a 2 year old daughter.

I got my son when he was 2 weeks old. I actually found him. I was a missionary in Ghana. Someone had tied a cloth around his neck, yied his hands behind him, and put him head first down inside a plastic bag, and left him out in the bush in full sun. I thought he was dead when i found him. I tore the bag open and picked him up and he sneezed and started crying. He was severely dehydrated. The heat and dehydration caused him to have a number of strokes, causing him to have multiple disabilities. I fully understand the roller coaster ride. Until the day that certificate of adoption was in my hand, i lived in fear that at any time, he would be taken away. He is now 19 years old and the joy of my heart. It's a lot of responsibility as an older single woman to take on raising a special needs child, but oh what a blessing he has been in my life. I'm so proud of the young man he is today.

My sister and her husband adopted two children. Both the kids have CP and are in group homes homes as that was over 45 years ago. Their son was 22 months old and had been in 8 foster homes already. They started the adoption of their daughter, which they brought home from the hospital at one month. The adoption was in the final steps when her husband passed away from surgery complications. My sister said if they were not going to let her finish the adoption, she needed to know about it now. Long story short, they have learned to walk, and communicate, which neither was suppose to be able to do. My sister passed away in August, so I'm their only family, as they are mine. I can not imagine not being in their lives. I swear my nephew is a clone of my Dad and my niece is definitely me.😊😊😊

My friend did foster care for about 10 years, she would often get a phone call in the middle of the of the night to have a emergency pick up of a child which she gladly did, some of the situations these children came from were heart breaking but my friend always took it slow and would make sure each child would get a complete medical checkup, see a dentist and go to Walmart so they could pick out their own favourite stuffed animal and a small blanket to snuggle in, but she would get so attached to these children and when the time came to say goodbye because they got adopted or a family member got them, she was devastated and would cry for days, it would break my heart to see her hurting. She eventually was in the position to consider adoption and WOW, within five years she adopted 3 children, 2 of which were biological siblings! She has her very own forever family and they are all thriving, of course there were some challenges but they worked through them. I’m so happy that Mazzy and Ransom are apart of your family ♥️🙏🏻🦙

They end in homes where they live their lives out. When I would see a baby being adopted I was so happy & pray for them and the baby. We never got to know how these babies were doing. Sorry to leave two comments but I have 3 daughters all grown up now. My oldest was into sports she was a swimmer and loved softball, was into playing outside great with animals and a tomboy. My middle daughter was a Mazzie loved dolls. Dresses, makeup cloths and hated getting dirty or anything messy. She played outside road bikes and played softball loved swimming but was a girly girl and still is at 40 years old. My youngest was all of the above her teachers loved her was a brownie and such a sweet girl still is now she is a nurse with two degrees. Each of the girls were raised the same and each choose their own path. I love them all for who they are very proud of them. I did have to protect my middle daughter more from people being critical of her being so fussy about things so I understand what it is like to have people be critical of one of you children. ❤❤❤❤

Messi, such a pretty little girl and she is so talented who know my goodness her drawing abilities, her musical talent taking up violin it’s not what every child wants to do and she loves it and she’s dedicated to it. I love that when children want to take up instruments and learn and wants to do all these Curriculums that are normally what a kid would want. She’s interested in cooking she wants to learn to sew things. She’s such a sweet girl.❤❤❤

Wonderful story about Mazzy. She is so artistic and as she grows up you can see how she loves her music and all the crafty girly things. All children are different and should be allowed follow their passions. I’m so glad she found such amazing parents. ❤️

Isn’t it great that kids can be so different, even when they grow up in the same environment. It is fantastic that they can explore who they are and are not forced into something. Mazzie is a very artsy young lady!

We used to have those kind of blankets too. I had one and two of my children had one. They're so great in winter. You can walk around the house in them and stay warm.

I understand Mazzy. I’m a twin. My sister was the tomboy playing with the boys. Playing ball and all the outdoor stuff. I on the other hand, was inside playing with dolls, sewing, helping grandpa can fruit, music, violin, etc. ❤

I’ve always thought “Mazzy is ALL GIRL”! My sister was just like that growing up! Always inside, me, I was outside with the boys, helping dad with chores or anything else that kept me outside! It takes all kinds. Your kids are unique and perfect in their own way. ❤❤

Beautiful sharing. Mazzy marches to her own drum, as you said, Cassie...and that's just fine. The world needs musicians and artists just as much as it needs farmers. She is the icing on your family cake. Hugs from Texas..

This has really helped me understand Mazzy! She's a bit Neurodiverse!! I am also a bit neurodiverse. I think if we saw more of Mazzy doing her household chores and stuff she enjoys there might be less questioning of her place in the family! She indeed did not choose your farm life. You chose to love her no matter what it took, or what type of girl she became, as long as it's a positive outcome! It warms my heart that you decided to include the appropriate biological family so she knows why she loves the things she loves when your family is so different. Mazzy hunny keep thriving and becoming the you, you are meant to be sweet girl!!

    • @Sumsum2000
      @Sumsum2000 8 месяцев назад

@@WalkerFarmFam Ahh yeah, but you could show us things she's done! Like Mazzy did an excellent job cleaning this area or made this for us. That way she's not having to be on camera, if she'd be ok with ya telling n showing us those things, so everyone can be so proud of her more often. And maybe tell the boys to occasionally ask her if she wants to do feed up with dad by herself. That way she gets the opportunity to go do the things she does actually like to do more often, without feeling like she's taking it away from them or pressured to hurry up n decide on something new.
