We're Josh & Diana Sankey {family of 9}, in love and married for 10 years, and have been foster parents for the last 4 years. Throughout that time we have had 10 foster placement blessings be apart of our family at different times and a total of 4 adoptions.
Our children are: Jayda {age 18}, Emry {age 7}, Israel {age 5}, Irie {age 4}, Joy {age 3}, Elijah {age 1} & Ellson {age 2 month}! Our children each have their own unique story of how God has saved them, rescued them and how we became blessed to be their mom & dad! Part adopted through foster care and part biologically born to us- but the kids know there's no difference.
We love Jesus, and DIVE head first, whole heartedly into whatever crazy thing God wants to do with us next! We homeschool the little ones and Jayda is heading off to college in August. We became 'those people we swore we'd never be' and bought an awesome 12 passenger van!
We have such a passion for Foster Care & Adoption, and how the Gospel is shown through it. We have a longing to equip other couples/families to become foster parents because we see SUCH a huge need in the state of Iowa. We want nothing more than to use our story- to give God the Glory!!

We were Foster Parents for 12+ years .. we raised 38 kids .. adopted 6 .. lost the youngest to cancer at age 6 .. we'd do it all over again .. it was a labor of love ..

I watched this interview many times because I can't get tired of seeing how beautiful God can work in our lives when we are at His disposal. It's such an encouragement for my faith life. Thank you for being such a beautiful representation of Christianity. My heart broke when I first heard the statistic that there are around 900 thousand churches in the US and 300 thousand kids in foster care who are able to be adopted. Which means if just one family out of every third church adopted one child, then there would be no more kids who were "lost in the system"! I think if anyone feels strongly about being pro-life and wants to make a difference that could help end abortion, making sure every unwanted child had a home would definitely make a big impression on those mothers who are considering abortion! We need so many more people like you guys. Thank you for doing what you are doing and for being such a great example to the people around you!
My husband and I just finished our foster classes and we are waiting for our first placement. We can hardly wait to dive in!

We have 3 beautiful kids (biological), but I feel God wants us to be parents to more. I will dive, I will not look back, and I will will work hard for those kids! this one is special it opened my heart seeing the heart of you wonderful people in action, moved by the Lord as you were to make such a difference in these young life's, the mental and emotional wounds on your two young girls alone with there previous life must have been ongoing!, I am truly moved, i was an unwanted child in a home with a mother addicted to tranquilisers and a violent alcoholic father, and even till this very day at age 56 I am still carrying scars, regardless of the decent life I have built for myself, bless all of you x

There are 400,000 children in foster care, approximately 117,000 are waiting to be adopted. If you live in the United States do not go out of the country. There are many children in America waiting to be adopted.

God is awesome and His love pours out of you! God put a passion in both your hearts and more will come to know Him because of your example.
I don't think I could survive having to let them go. I tried it when my children were young and fell in love with a baby girl with downs. We had her for a cpl months and I was crushed when they came and took her away. I decided then this was not for me, my heart just couldn't take it.

Loved your story! It certainly ministered and encouraged us as we go into fostering for the second time around. We fostered twin boys for over a year and they were reunited with their bio mom. we have a great relationship with her and we are still in the boys lives. If you're not licensed to be a foster parent in the state of Ohio, you can't be a foster parent. In Ohio, you have to take at least 36 hours of foster parenting classes to become a foster parent.
