Selma Garbage Can Roll In

  • WM contracted out the Selma cart removal process to an independent company. The crew I encountered was more than willing to let me get a few shots and also had a great attitude even though they had to deal with the hot valley weather and also getting god knows what splashed on them. The carts are driven from Selma to WM Fresno yard where, as of last week, are stacked up in the transfer station yard. I'd assume most of these carts are bound for the recycle center as I don't think WM would want to ship carts to another yard, especially considering 1) there's now an excess of WM carts since they also lost Laguna Beach and Santa Barbara County and 2) there are a bunch of Carlsbad and Santa Clarita carts that were shipped up in 2022 and 2023 that were passed and are now currently being rolled in yet again. Are some of these carts bound to get shipped off for a second time? WM may surprise us. I'm assuming the black bodied Waste Management and WM Rehrigs will be reused though.
Thanks to Bo and his cousin for allowing me to film! Hope you find this!

From what I hear, Shasta County (Redding yard) is going to be rolling out organics next year with the new contract, once it’s signed, we’ve got all kinds of used carts from all over up here, but they’re slowly being faded out and they’re dishing out all new green body rehrigs with the black and blue color coded lids. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they grabbed used carts from a contract loss that are green bodies and just make sure they get new organics lids on them. Would help keep the cost cheaper. Guess we’ll have to see in the next year or so…
