    Is that sweat in my eyes, or tears running down my cheeks remembering a day long gone? Coming home from kindergarten in 1969 and seeing Kimba, Marine Boy, Speed Racer and a ton of other shows. It's official, it's tears...

      Danglyparts Old enough to have seen the show before you (or at last I'm assuming so).
      I was mostly over-exaggerating in an effort to highlight that this is a show that I haven't seen in decades, and a reminder of my youth. Wasn't meant to be taken seriously..

      teed up We lived in Jersey(still do) and somehow we got the UHF channels, and we used to watch Kimba and Marine Boy and Speed Racer as well as the Japanese live action shows, Ultraman and Johnny Sokko being the two main ones, with Space Giants bringing up the rear.
      This was on UHF channle WPHL 17 out of Philadelphia on the Wee Willie Webber show.

I never forgot the music and words in over 50 years. I used to love Kimba the White Lion and watched it every Sunday evening when I was 10 years old in 1967. That was in La Habra Heights in Southern California. Back when California was the totally coolest state in the nation. No way to explain how fun it was in those days. We sure had some great cartoons.

      Southern California still has the absolute best weather in the nation but LA is now a pit thanks to the Libs. Orange County and San Diego are the places to live now, don't even bother visiting LA anymore except for maybe Malibu.

Trump had this country running like a Swiss watch. Biden and the people pulling his strings have purposely run this country into the ground and it will only get worse. Remember what the Stones said in Street Fighting Man.........."Hey, think the time is right for palace revolution".

    This cartoon definitely brought back such good memories. I happened to find a rerun of it on cable TV this weekend and even though I had not seen or heard the theme song or cartoon in over 40 years I instantly remembered it all. I was filled with such warm nostalgia that I sat with a silly grin on my face and was instantly transported back to my house in Detroit watching this on channel 62. I felt like a 5-year old all over again. I got excited when I saw the animals running (for some reason, this was always my favorite part of the show). That was one memory I totally forgot but it came rushing back to me. I could even hear my now-deceased mother’s voice talking to me about the show. It was such a good feeling. Very warm and nostalgic. Amazing how a silly cartoon can do that!

    OMG! SUCH FOND MEMORORIES!!! I was a teensy weeensy living in Japan on the Camp Zama military base. The ONLY show in English was Sesamee Street....so I always watched it - just to feel connected. (even my Mom did, lol, because of the same reason!). Thankfully, KIMBA was on and in Japanese but yet....it transcended language and I LOVED IT!!! It has a special place in my heart.... ❤

    It’s 1967, and I can distinctly remember coming home from school and watching this on WPHL channel 17 out of Philadelphia.
    This along with a block of cartoons such as:
    Marine Boy
    Gigantor
    Eighth Man
    Astro Boy
    Speed Racer
    So many great cartoons back in those days, and sadly today, many cartoons I’ve come across are just flat out WEIRD. 😮

    Kimba was one of my favorite things as a child. Astroboy first and Kimba a close second...it made being a kid in the 60s a little better, I think. As an only child, I found childhood to be a lonely condition, but great imaginative shows, with heart, made a real difference and made me love animals and look for kindness in the world. My parents and grandparents were good to me, but I found my young peer group rather heartless...books and great cartoons gave me somewhere to go, emotionally.

    Before I became big on anime in general, I remember as a kid watching these localized versions thinking "boy, some shows look so different from stuff like Warner Bros & Hanna-Barbera shows!" And THEN along came "Star Blazers", which changed everything for me.
    Yep, it WAS edited for the more extreme scenes of violence & sexuality, but "Blazers" did show characters dying & there was even bits of "fan service" that slipped through S&P...🙃. When I finally got to see the whole run of "Jungle Emperor Leo", I was amazed!

    • @uniliv582

      well ACTUALLY the lion king is basically one reenactment of Hamlet, and the sequel being a recreation of Romeo, and Juliet. Disney didn't copy the plot at all, just the small little lion Simba. If you want to blame Disney of copying something, it's the 1500s to 1600s playwrights of shakespeare, even then, he just brought the tale in african animal kingdom form, to appeal to kids.

    • @katebattista7400
      @katebattista7400 9 лет назад +31

      Anubis game Plot-wise there are differences. But there are multiple scenes that are identical visually. Also both movies have a father-son lion, an evil sibling, evil hyena henchman, a warthog, a meerkat, a bird with a big beak (actual species is escaping me...), etc. In fact Matthew Broderick (voice of older simba) thought he was doing an American remake of Kimba... If you're going to do a remake of Hamlet (with elements of Moses and Joseph) then pick different animals and a different setting and don't borrow shots from other cartoons. Disney knew the creator of Kimba and I imagine his animators, who were adults in 1995, had seen Kimba at some point.

    • @thangle6164
      @thangle6164 5 лет назад

      K Batt You do realize that Walt was dead before the lion king right? This was before the internet so there's a good chance that they didn't know about Kimba. The movie was about Lions so of course the animals would be the same. There is an evil sibling because it based off of hamlet.
