I have never seen complete incompetence executed with such skill
This is the perfect way to phrase it
I want that on a shirt
That's basically become Mark's brand now, hasn't it?
He barely did one productive thing and lasted longer than most of my friends can trying their hardest 😂
Task failed successfully?

The two bites and 20 lacerations dont have anything to do with it
Nah it’s fine just shake it off bud 💯
LOL
xD
Rub some dirt in it
Mark's character is literally a chad to be alive after all of those injuries...
But not for long.
As someone with 557 hours on project zomboid, i must say, watching mark stumble his way through the game and somehow survive despite being literally torn apart alive, and becoming practically a mummy with the amount of bandages on him is the most peak PZ content i've seen in a while.
and the fact that he didnt even know HOW TO PUSH, makes it even better😂😂

@@themudpit621 You gotta understand that Mark knows nothing about the game. And for the newbies, the negatives are just negative. They'll not take any risk because "THEY KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THE GAME"
I've played this game religiously on Apocalypse for a long time and the fact this man hit so many house alarms, crawled through so much glass, battled the undead with all the negative moodles at once, and survived for as long as he did with absolutely no prior knowledge (like how to push lol) is an absolute marvel. I hope he plays more, would be equally entertaining if he gets a group together because the multiplayer makes for hilarious content everytime.
Going into PZ blind is always a magical experience
That's pretty much the standard Markiplier experience

This is a true testament to Mark's Horror Survival skills. My record for this game was 12 minutes.
It does have a very high learning curve, Today I have 1000 hours in this game but when it was new I couldn't survive a single day
I remember being so shit when i first got the game. Could only make it over 24 hours if i stayed inside
You'll get there!! ^.^ use the sandbox to start really really low population and work your way up! You'll get there. I sucked and started super baby mode and 800+ hrs later I can stand my own in LV. You'll get there! ^.^
Some tips based on the video.
Your standard walking speed is fast enough to outwalk the infected. Avoid sprinting or jogging, you'll want to keep your endurance up for the fighting. Resting on anything you can sit on or even sitting on the ground (you can combine both) will get your endurance up faster.
There's a game setting called "aim outline" which I recommend turning on for both guns and melee weapons since it shows you the outlines of everything you have a chance to hit and the colour shows how likely you are to hit.
At the start you'll want to avoid groups of 5+.
When infected are on the ground you can save weapon durability by stomping (spacebar) (where you stomp matters, stomping on their leg does basically nothing while stomping on their head does the most).
Always keep spare sheets or bandages on you to replace dirty ones or to bandage wounds in case of emergencies.
Guns are horribly loud and will attract A LOT of infected, shotguns are the only viable option until you hit aiming 5+.
Make sure you disinfect infected wounds fast (infection is caused by having untreated wounds near dirt, keep bandages clean and wounds bandaged). Infection is lethal, scratches and lacerations given by infected have a small chance of infecting you and bites will 100% of the time infect you (being infected by a zed will kill you. It takes a few days but you will die.). If you've been bit you may as well find some bleach and a nice place to die.
Ripping up clothing or sheets will give you ripped sheets which can be used as bandages.
Right clicking windows will allow you to remove broken glass from smashed windows, if you climb through a window without clearing the glass you'll most likely cut yourself and in worst case scenario give yourself a deep cut that needs stitching and bandaging.
If you stand on top of an infected that's been knocked down they can't get up until you step off them. You can use this to keep one infected out of the fight while you deal with another.
If you trip an alarm in a house. A horde is coming, better to cut your loss and get out of there before they arrive.
The trait "cat eyes" is something I recommend you always pick due to how much of a difference it makes at night, it allows you to see almost as much as a flashlight would provide but throughout your entire vision cone.
You can press E to open windows and doors. You can also hold E to climb through windows, jump large fences or just vaulting regular fences.
Infected that haven't spotted you can be snuck up on and usually pushed down (spacebar) on the first try.
Some questions answered:
Beta blockers will keep your character from panicking (panicking will make you perform just a bit worse, mainly becomes a problem when combined with other effects)
Both Painkillers and alcohol will allow you to sleep through pain (DO NOT mix, overdosing is a real thing in this game).
The house you spawn in is guaranteed to provide some food, some basic materials and a weapon (of some kind, it can be anything from a butter knife to an axe), which is why the spawn house provided so much more than all other houses.
It is REALLY bad to shoot, obviously depends on where you are and how clear the area is but generally using guns is going to get you killed (unless you have A LOT of ammo and high shooting skill).
Bags will in fact help you. Backpacks are always useful and other types of bags can be held in your secondary hand while you hold your (one handed only) weapon in your primary hand.
The reason there's barely any loot is due to the game settings. You can change loot rarity in your settings while making the world, if you're playing on a premade difficulty it's already set and I'm not 100% sure it can be changed.
Medicine comes in multiples, when you take them it doesn't take them all only one pill. You can see how many pills are left if you hover over the bottle and check the "remaining" bar. (I am unsure how you didn't overdose at 44:50).
The gunshots are one of MANY events that can happen and they're used to keep infected moving around.
----------------------------------
I know most of this was learnt and answered during the playthrough but I decided to keep this here for anyone else that could use some tips to survive longer.
I never thought I'd see mark play PZ but it's very nice to see and I hope for more content in the future, happy surviving lads.
The fact that this still doesn't cover all of the mistakes/questions he made/had is hilarious
Wound infection and zombie infection are not the same thing. Zombie infection is determined by chance whenever you get harmed by a zombie, regardless of how clean or dirty your wound gets over time. Regular wound infection just makes the wound take more time to heal. Also, cleaning your clothes and character have no effect on infection rate or chance. To avoid wound infection you just have to keep the bandages clean, which get dirty over time with blood from the wound itself.
Wound infection (not zombie) is not lethal, so while it may take longer to heal it can be ignored. It's not worth changing dirty bandages.
@@alexbirchall9537 yes. In fact at times, especially when at low health and with neck wounds, it is better not to change bandages to avoid more blood loss.
@@lactomedam33dirty clothes cause bandages to become dirty faster.

Shoutout to the editor(s) doing a great job on this one! I especially like the Wii Sports sound effects, the slow zooms on obvious things like his inventory, and pasting Mark's face on his character when he monologues. All of these made me laugh!
Mark struggle mode/ monologging nonsense is my favorite. Would absolutely watch more of this.
I love how Mark knows so little about this game that he doesn't even know it's designed to be the most accurate zombie simulator ever. "Why am I not taking the painkillers?" You are bud, they just take time to work like in real life

@@ObsessedwithZelda2 That means he has two bottles, but each bottle has multiple uses. That's true of a lot of the items in PZ. @@JD-jl2tz Kinda wish zomboid would make guns less of a dinner bell. Sure, zeds would be attracted, but the degree to which they are attracted is pretty overblown. Realistically, a normal person can't pinpoint a shooters exact location from three miles away (depending on the cartridge, they may not even hear the shot at that far), and I'm supposed to expect a decomposing cannibal with brain damage to have better ears?

You don't need to. Wound infection changes almost nothing; you totally can just wear the exact same bandage from when you get the wound until you heal, and you will suffer NO ill effects. It's actually kind of ridiculous.
@@LordofFullmetalDoesn't infection increase time to heal and stacks chance to become sick?
I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure you can't get sick from dirty bandages, and they only give a barely noticeable debuff in healing speed
Getting the zombie virus is determined as soon as you get the wound: scratches have 7% chance, lacerations 25% and bites 100%. Wound infections don't change it
This was hands down the most entertaining PZ video I have watched. I don't know how you managed to survive more than the first 10 minutes. Your death was signed at 19:00 when you got bitten. But yet you persisted for multiple more days, getting literally dozens of more injuries, multiple infections, refused to clean any of your bandages, ran straight through multiple hordes, led numerous conga lines, slept literally across the street from the horde you just conga'd around the block, and somehow continued to live for another half a day after all that.
The combination of your bravado and complete lack of knowledge of the game has led this to be the single most entertaining PZ video on this platform.
Bravo, sir.

The beginning of the video, where Lixian is showing how much gameplay Mark survived and how much he had to edit. Had me choking for about 5 minutes straight.
This man is an enigma, simultaneously the worst and best project zomboid player I've ever bore witness too. With little to no knowledge of the most basic mechanics, he should've been dead within minutes, instead he survived multiple days on his apparent second run, sustained over a dozen separate injuries, most of which detrimental to his combat capabilities and movement speed, and time after time made direct contact with multiple zombies when being chased by the horde and not getting grabbed even once, not mentioning that he also escaped the horde (temporarily at least). 10/10, simply incredible, hope he plays again. 0:35 Well, Project Zomboid is set in Kentucky as it is Ground Zero for the Knox Event. The maps correlate to major cities on the map. Many mods have been made to add to the map or to expand upon it. Raven Creek, Fort Knox, Eerie County, etc. Also most of the focus has been into improving and expanding on the players experiences. Improving vehicle physics, prepping a major engineering/crafting overhaul, intelligent NPCs, NPC behaviors, post-apocalypse traits, farm and wild animals, improvements to existing systems, etc.
The PZ map is huge, it would take you a long time to go through it, it has several cities and towns, it even has Louisville
But You can only Spawn in muldraugh, Rosewood, west point and Riverside because of the lore, those were the only cities affected when the knox event started
However what I love about pz is that the map is connected, you can travel from Rosewood to west point if you get a car and at no time does the game interrupt to load a new map

He literally said “I’ve been bitten” at that point
@@Spaceknightking1wait so the whole game is over if a zombie bites you? Kinda makes the whole in-depth healing system useless
"i loaded into a game, and i died immediately. i dont have footage of that, but you can guarantee it happened." as a project zomboid player, i can assure you, it did.
Mark's fake "action hero" voice was hilarious, especially when he was talking about his groin being injured. Really funny video.

Holly hell Mark just DID NOT "scoot" through the freaking horde 3 minutes straight and take a good sleep XD
It’s craxy
The reason all of the spawn points are in kentcucky is because the developers want to ultimately recreate the entire state of kentucky within the game. all of the spawn points are actually on the same map.
Guarantee they won't have the town I live in, lol. Also Adair County start would suuuuuck hehehe.
@@louisguillebeau494 well some of the towns aren't real places but are based of of real places in Kentucky. So you might be able to find a place in the game partially based on your town.
Kentucky gang, Mccreary County is the greatest place on planet earth

the reasoning was that it was a contained apocalypse, they managed a quarantine and cut the survivors off as their losses
Mark sweet Moses please play more of this. I would LOVE to watch you play through some of this!
i have never seen someone be so brutally mauled by zombies but survive so long. usual project zomboid experience is you die if what happened to mark in the first 10 minutes happen to you
I wouldn’t mind this being a monthly or annual video idea where mark doesn’t look anything up and we just watch as he gives another crack at it. Maybe he gets further as time goes by, maybe he doesn’t, who knows! It’ll be a fun guessing game.
but he is dead forever now in this.
cant just become alive again
@@-Big_Big Unus Annus
It would be pretty fun but I have a sneaking suspicion that he googled a couple things already (Like when he suddenly had bandages (sheets))
THIS
But actually why? There’s nothing to do in the game, you don’t get any cool interactions outside of the chopper trying to draw zombies toward you in the games bullshit way of ensuring you don’t actually get to enjoy yourself for to long anyways?
There’s no ending, you say get farther… farther to what? Let’s say he crosses the entire map… what purpose would it serve and what would it look like? Cause it would literally just be this act video, but on the other side of the map.
The only change would be what he’s wearing, and since I’m not a baby, that isn’t exactly engaging
So tell me why it would be fun to watch him struggle with a damage model like this, spend however long trying to figure out what beta blockers are, for it to all mean nothing to the game ANYWAYS?
as a markiplier fan this was great
as a project zomboid player this was excruciatingly painful
With the amount of basics he just straight up does not know or understand, it's actually impressive how long he survived.
When he smashed the window and tried to jump in I was like "oh god please don't!!" and was actually relieved he hadn't figured out how to mantle at that point lol
watching him leave that gun case on the ground made me visibly cringe
I actually have no experience with this game, but even I cringed when he ignored options like "rest" and "wash bandages" 🫡
@@vyrix5733 to be fair it took me a while (and a friend telling me) to figure out you needed to equip it in your primary to open it but still
Multiplier, those are more than just 4 maps, they're 1 of 4 towns you can spawn in. Aside of the city, Louisville, in the base vanilla game.
And doe valley and march ridge
Love to see you play one of my favorite games to play with friends! The only tip I'll give ya is that the UI tells you a lot of what you need to know, right clicking everything is great.
Yes.
The entire monologue starting around 16:00 feels like something straight out of Xavier: Renegade Angel.
He even has the same voice it's wild
Yo I was thinking the exact same thing! We are cursed with knowledge

This my mom's secret account or something? That's exactly what she said.
I thought the same thing... I should really look that show up again. XD
“I’m naked…….. yeah that’s fine.” Quotes by Mark
Marks done naked before. nothing unusual.
love the open window "hey you" perfect lol i do hope to see some more zomboid on the channel its fun and your learning it surprisingly fast
0:37 there is only one map where all of those towns exist, along with many others that simply don't allow you to start within them such as March Ridge, Dixie and the big city of Louisville (but there's mods that allow you to spawn into any town, even allowing for specific areas or specific job oriented locations like fire stations or restaurants)
A couple of notes from someone with 100+ hours in the game just in the last few weeks.
1.) the maps arent the only towns avaiable, theyre just the spawn points across KY. Rosewood is the best for beginners.
2.)the map is only in KY because in this universe thats where the outbreak starts. The whole game takes place across Knox county, and the map is huge
3.) clothing is important, certain articles of clothing will provide more protection from bites and scratches, tempretures, and have weight to them, so its important to wear the right stuff when needed.
4.) pick up a digital watch off a zombie, it gives you good info like the current in game time date and temperature outside.
5.) dont run unless absolutely necessary, it makes so much noise and attracts more zombies. Your base walk speed is faster then most zombies. If you feel the need to run try crouching by pushing ‘c’ first. You wont move as fast but you wont make as much noise.
6.) everyday in the early days of your save while tv broadcasts are still happening you can stand in the room with one on the ‘life and living’ channel on at 6:00,12:00, and 18:00 and you can earn levels in certain skills for free. There are vhs around as well that do a similar thing.
7.) important hot keys, h pulls the health tab, i is inventory, c is crouch, v when near a vehicle will open a radial showing you all available options with the car and L will show you current levels in all skills. Books will give you an xp multiplier for the skill for the next 2 levels, starting with vol. 1 for levels 1-2, vol. 2 for 3-4, and so on to level 10
If you wanna use this advice great if not good! Its a great game and im really excited to see one of my fav youtubers playin it!
I recomend also turning on hit outlines if you're new. It will show you exactly when you can hit a zomboid
Also there's a difference between holding e and pressing e, btw DO NOT use the right click button to select things in this game unless you're completely safe with dying fast, most actions can be made by pressing or holding e or simply looking the CONTAINERS in the inventory buttons, which Mark obviously missed during the entire game, and never use guns unless you want to die.
okay but since you're very experienced with the game, can you tell me, WASN'T HIS LUCK INSANE?

He somehow survived four bites before being horded to death
@@sadrabbit53 he did not technically survive the bites he was already dead in like 2-7 days from the first one since you turn into a zombie eventually no matter what without mods and extra bites do nothing afaik he just managed to kill himself before he turned.
I've been waiting for this moment for so long. Just loaded it and I can't wait to see how Mark did!
Edit: Don't worry about frustrating us. Most of this game is a learning process in trial and error. The way I see it, it's a rite of passage. To be frank, I'm impressed you made it as long as you did on your first go.
You can sneak, I think the button was C. You can also sprint as opposed to jogging, but sprinting can make more noise and you can faceplant walls if you're not careful.
Tips: looks like your groin started bleeding because you went through the tree. Outdoorsman reduces the chance of that if i remember
You don't have to worry too much about infection, but it is a good idea to disinfect and change dressings since it does make your wounds heal longer. Zombie inflicted wounds are another matter.
There was a point you turned down hopping through a broken window, you are able to hop through, but definitely clear the glass first.
Aside from painkillers, any source of alcohol can help kill pain enough to help you sleep. Especially bourbon.
Personally, I'd say guns are generally not advised to use in early game unless you have the skills and enough ammo to sustain. As you saw from the crowd, guns are LOUD.
Sadly the saw isn't a weapon, but you can use it for carpentry which is an INCREDIBLE skill to level if you're not always on the move.
You were taking the meds, watch the Remaining bar drop. Be careful because you CAN OD and die that way. Same if you take pain pills with alcohol, you'll fall asleep and never wake up.
Molotovs are OP but they can backfire if you're not careful.
I love how Mark's learning speed is amazing seeing as he went in playing PZ with little to no knowledge and then also see him learn certain basics of the game as he play through
0:10 Oh hey, I know that feeling. Spawned on a balcony and accidentally vaulted the railing, plummeted three stories to my death. I lasted 8 seconds.
I once spawned in a house in the middle of a like five or six zombies. Died immediately

"I'm too lubricated with blood for them to get a good hold on me" -Mark in the Iron Lung movie probably
It's not four maps, it's a large map of kentuky with 4 spawn locations. Someone experienced with modding the game can add spawn locations wherever they want.
and that is without getting into how that is actually city spawns based on profession. Engineers tend to have better homes then burger flippers.
That's actually pretty interesting I never knew that
Then its just 1 map, which, while big, is worse than 4. So... yeah.
@@vytautaszygelis11061 Big Map is Usually Way Worse than 4 small maps
@@vytautaszygelis1106 You can just look up how big it actually is. It may be a single map but it is massive. Going from one end to the other on foot would take hours. There is a lot to explore, enough that with 125 hours in the game, I have only been very thorough with the full exploration of a signle city. There are something like a dozen major cities and a further dozen places of interest. One of those cities (Louisville) is Enormous. It is probably larger than the four base game spawn cities combined and mostly made up of large multi-story buildings.
The game does not need multiple maps.
There's plenty to do as is
This is a trip! I just searched for a Project Zomboid video on your channel last week and here one is just a few days later! ✨
This was a blast to watch and I hope we get to see more soon 🍻
Mark playing the best zombie game of all time makes me giddy.
(thos arent maps they are spawn locations in knox. Originally the game only had a couple locations but now its got like 6 full towns one of them being the city lousiville but you can only spawn in a few)
also you can make the zombies have an outline in settings so it tells you when its a good time to swing
and pushing zombies away after a swing is typically safer then turning around (they can grab and if you have your back to them it increses bite chance and pull down chance)
you can rip clothes and use the ripped sheats as bandages
once bandaged you can pretty much leave it alone. even if the bandage gets dirt it will still heal if covered. Infections have never killed me before so feel free to ignore it
bites are 100% fatal and you will die eventually after one happens
for loot: There are dedicated areas that spawn good loot (like police stations, fire depts, military outposts, hospitals)
homes typically have only a few if any items
The editing of Marks face on the character model had me lol. I really hope Mark does a bunch of these, good watch haha.

Just to let you know Mark, those aren’t different maps. Project zomboid is one GIGANTIC map. Those are just your choice of starting locations.
As a project zomboid veteran, seeing mark needing to do circles just to take down the first zombie is just pure entertainment.😂
there is so much u can do in this game if you take time to learn. and you can climb into every window just need to hold E if i believe correctly.. been a while since i played zomboid
