Love Aajkal was a good movie script. Like most of Imtiyaz Ali's characters, these were also nuanced and deep.The angst of that girl about the inevitability of heartbreak is very common and relatable. It required actors who had capacity to portray that angst and depth. Neither Sara nor Kartik did justice to their characters. Also, what is going on with Prabhas and his choice of scripts?
True movie needed better actors everytime I watch love Aaj kal 2 and jhms only think about aah missed opportunity such layered emotions only if it was done right it's sad to see those emotions getting trampled by bad actors and half baked screenplay
Sorry to say but Prabhas cannot act. He needs a good director like Rajamouli who can weave a good story so that his lack of nuanced acting won't be that visible. All his ventured after Bahubali have been a disasters of the largest scale. Agree with the perception about Love Aaj Kal- Imtiaz Ali had written nua ced and layered characters and perhaps if better actors were casted then the movie would have been magical.
As much as I think the nepotism debate is sometimes overdone…the industry doesn’t fail to provide examples after examples! Casting is very important whether it's a Crappy Script or a Good Script. I think it would be refreshing to see Alia or Mrunal Thakur instead of Sara and Ayushmann or Vicky instead of Kartik. Especially in the 90s Era Ayushmann will be perfect for that Awkward Dance move and that scenes with Arushi Sharma. And I would love to see Dulquer and Mrunal again in an Imtiaz Ali Movie Also Fun Fact: Aditya Roy Kapoor was supposed to do EK VILLAIN RETURNS and he even signed it but backed out because of creative differences. Karthik was great for the awkward dance moves in Love Aaj Kal 2. I am not a fan of Kartik Aryan but he was very convincing as this awkward, offbeat and goofy guy in the film, which made his dance very funny and entertaining. Kartik Aryan is best for roles where the guy is awkward and posseses a slight edge to him 😂😂
I think Yash, Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, or even Ranveer Singh could've played a great Ravana. If they wanted to be closer to the Amish books, Yash has already shown himself to be very capable of portraying a remorseless killer with an obsession with wealth, a hatred of the status quo, and a deific level of respect for a romantic/parental figure, which is literally Ravana in the Amish books. if they wanted the sterotypical egomaniacal look of Ravana, Rana and Ranveer have each shown how great they can be in a villain role like this. Prabhas i'd be interested to see but anything's better than Saif Ali Khan's portrayal. As for Ram, perhaps Hrithik Roshan, SRK, or Ramcharan. With SRK they might need to de-age him a bit but they all have a softness to their expressions that would make them really good fits.
I, for some reason, don't think I'm gonna find SRK or most other actors as convincing rams. Hritik seems to be one of the few who can embody ram's soft nature. If anything I would love to see srk as lakshaman.
@@alinachrist8416 I kinda agree with you. Both Ramcharan and SRK have a fierce aura. In my humble opinion, even Hrithik isn't suited for playing Ram. The character of Ram needs someone whose vibe is similar of a calm river. Legends like Dilip Kumar or Dev Anand would've been apt for Ram. Amitabh Bachchan despite being a phenomenal actor doesn't fit the bill since his aura is also very fierce. I think Kamal Haasan or Mohanlal can portray a believable Ram. But that would require lots and lots of deaging.

The way he laughed as he was getting beaten up by Kabir was pretty solid. John Abraham in Pathaan, we all know, was one of the highlights of the film. I'm ready to give Arjun Kapoor a chance plus, who wouldnt like to see him getting ragdolled by Singham😂😂😂

Akshay Kumar in prithviraj Chauhan was just idk what to say. There are some roles where you should accept your age and move on. We have all seen the samrat prithviraj chauhan serial and the fact that he died young was so impactful in that something that was missing in the movie. The movie was Yellow and disappointing.
this is still fine, from the thumbnail, I thought just like DON, Ajay is leaving the franchise and Arjun is new Singham. Thank God, that didn't happen. But also after Golmaal 4 and Circus, it feels like Rohit Shetty has lost the touch. I saw Circus about 20% and then left and just couldn't believe this was from the same director that gave us Golmaal 1, 2, 3, Singham 1, 2, Chennai Express, etc
My worst comedy film ever was Judwaa 2. Even Humshaakals with its senseless plot had some comedy in it. Despite turning people into dogs, there were actually some laughable scenes in the film! And i am someone who laughs very easily… but judwaa 2 is probably the only comedy film that i didnt laugh in even a single scene or a single dialogue! And this is not an exaggeration. And this is coming from someone who can laugh at basically nothing! Even Cirkus had like 2-3 comedy scenes post interval and pagalpanti gave me a decent laugh pre-interval but post interval, i dont want to even discuss what i saw! But anyways keep everything aside, my point is Judwaa 2 didnt even make me laugh for one second, even when i was trying so hard to find at least one thing funny in the entire film!! 😭😭😭
I really believe in Imtiaz ali's storytelling and that's why I watched Love aaj kal. But as Anmol pointed out, it was Sara's character that was not as convincing as it should have been. I feel the same for Kartik as well. He also didn't look quite convincing.
I think arjun kapoor is having his last leg in bollywood . If not hero then villan , if not actor then producer,director... they are not giving up easily this industry. there should be case study how arjun kapoor gets biggest movies.

Akshay did not respected the role of Samrat Prithviraj enough and just went to the set, read his lines from the script and went back home to sleep at his usual time 8pm. If he would have studied the character, read about the stories and the saga of the great king and perfected his mannerisms, movie could have been much much better. But sadly, we got a crapfest.
i really believe that saif ali khan was the only saving grace other than the music in adhipurush. though he had a bad look and poor walk and some cliche scenes, the man intimidating and his scene with kriti sanon were standouts. he definitely deserves credit for that.

Tbh If I have to see Hrithik in any mythological figure/as God figure, I think Shiva would suit him a lot. Not only could he show the gentle side, he could also portray Shiva's rage and he could also bring about the Natraj side of Shiva. I am not sure I can picture him as Ram, I think someone with more gentle demeanor would work better!
Another similar example of movie Thank god is Baar Baar Dekho, where the concept of the movie is really fascinating as a man goes back and forth in time only to realize that it's people in his life and small moments that contribute to happiness, conceptually movie had potential as it was unique but sadly average performance from Siddharth and Katrina made movie completely forgettable.
I think Sara was fantastic in Atrangi Re. Maybe it's because the role really suited the OTP vibe she gave it, but she was very convincing, charming, and moving. Very underrated movie, and it wouldn't have worked without her part being good.

Hrithik as Lord Rama and Prabhas as Ravana could've made the movie a tad more salvageable. Have never been a fan of the new crop, to be very honest. Arjun Kapoor is the wrong choice for a negative character, going by his past record. Abhishek Bachchan could've been tried or maybe, Salman or SRK, if only looking at Hindi film industry. Else, options in Southern Industries are a lot. Surya or even Arjun Das can make for good negative characters. However, screenplay and chacterization is key.
I think singham 3 must have a villain that should be calm, methodical, stoic and a master manipulator sort of villain who does not represent any social issue...but someone with a much more personal vendetta...much like Baron Zemo in the civil war...So as to provide an intellectual challenge for Bajirao Singham and his grp of officers...an actor like Nawazuddin Siddiqui Or even, and I knw its just a long shot...but someone like Rajkumar Rao to play the kind of role

Well they have taken Arjun kapoor to act in the remake of " Ayyapanum koshiyum" a malayalam movie about a rivalry between a rowdy police inspector and a ex military havildar turned jnto a bootlegger . This was a really good action thriller with great twist and turns to the story . I have only seen it in bits and pieces but i loved what i saw . Couldn't find the dubbed version or eng subtitles vala version of it anywhere except Amazon prime. Earlier john Abraham and Abhishek bachchan were supposed to be in it but Abhishek backed out of it for some reason and now Arjun kapoor is in that movie. So yes another great movie is gonna get destroyed because of him .

Vidyut jamwal would have been better indrajeet and randeep hooda as vibhishan. According to me that would be perfect casting. Although with that vfx and flaws movie would have still been a flop. 😅

Love Aajkal was a good movie script. Like most of Imtiyaz Ali's characters, these were also nuanced and deep.The angst of that girl about the inevitability of heartbreak is very common and relatable. It required actors who had capacity to portray that angst and depth. Neither Sara nor Kartik did justice to their characters.
Also, what is going on with Prabhas and his choice of scripts?
True movie needed better actors everytime I watch love Aaj kal 2 and jhms only think about aah missed opportunity such layered emotions only if it was done right it's sad to see those emotions getting trampled by bad actors and half baked screenplay
Sorry to say but Prabhas cannot act. He needs a good director like Rajamouli who can weave a good story so that his lack of nuanced acting won't be that visible. All his ventured after Bahubali have been a disasters of the largest scale. Agree with the perception about Love Aaj Kal- Imtiaz Ali had written nua ced and layered characters and perhaps if better actors were casted then the movie would have been magical.

Seeing the calmness in the role Shahid Kapoor played in Padmaavat, i feel like he would have been a right choice for Sri Ram in Adipurush.
Casting is very important whether it's a Crappy Script or a Good Script. I think it would be refreshing to see Alia or Mrunal Thakur instead of Sara and Ayushmann or Vicky instead of Kartik.
Especially in the 90s Era Ayushmann will be perfect for that Awkward Dance move and that scenes with Arushi Sharma. And I would love to see Dulquer and Mrunal again in an Imtiaz Ali Movie

Karthik was great for the awkward dance moves in Love Aaj Kal 2. I am not a fan of Kartik Aryan but he was very convincing as this awkward, offbeat and goofy guy in the film, which made his dance very funny and entertaining. Kartik Aryan is best for roles where the guy is awkward and posseses a slight edge to him 😂😂

I think Yash, Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, or even Ranveer Singh could've played a great Ravana. If they wanted to be closer to the Amish books, Yash has already shown himself to be very capable of portraying a remorseless killer with an obsession with wealth, a hatred of the status quo, and a deific level of respect for a romantic/parental figure, which is literally Ravana in the Amish books. if they wanted the sterotypical egomaniacal look of Ravana, Rana and Ranveer have each shown how great they can be in a villain role like this. Prabhas i'd be interested to see but anything's better than Saif Ali Khan's portrayal. As for Ram, perhaps Hrithik Roshan, SRK, or Ramcharan. With SRK they might need to de-age him a bit but they all have a softness to their expressions that would make them really good fits.

I, for some reason, don't think I'm gonna find SRK or most other actors as convincing rams. Hritik seems to be one of the few who can embody ram's soft nature. If anything I would love to see srk as lakshaman.
@@alinachrist8416 I kinda agree with you. Both Ramcharan and SRK have a fierce aura. In my humble opinion, even Hrithik isn't suited for playing Ram. The character of Ram needs someone whose vibe is similar of a calm river. Legends like Dilip Kumar or Dev Anand would've been apt for Ram. Amitabh Bachchan despite being a phenomenal actor doesn't fit the bill since his aura is also very fierce. I think Kamal Haasan or Mohanlal can portray a believable Ram. But that would require lots and lots of deaging.
There was nothing wrong with selecting Saif for the role of Raavan. The problem was with the way they wrote & portrayed Raavan on screen.

Akshay Kumar in prithviraj Chauhan was just idk what to say. There are some roles where you should accept your age and move on. We have all seen the samrat prithviraj chauhan serial and the fact that he died young was so impactful in that something that was missing in the movie. The movie was Yellow and disappointing.

My worst comedy film ever was Judwaa 2. Even Humshaakals with its senseless plot had some comedy in it. Despite turning people into dogs, there were actually some laughable scenes in the film! And i am someone who laughs very easily… but judwaa 2 is probably the only comedy film that i didnt laugh in even a single scene or a single dialogue! And this is not an exaggeration. And this is coming from someone who can laugh at basically nothing! Even Cirkus had like 2-3 comedy scenes post interval and pagalpanti gave me a decent laugh pre-interval but post interval, i dont want to even discuss what i saw! But anyways keep everything aside, my point is Judwaa 2 didnt even make me laugh for one second, even when i was trying so hard to find at least one thing funny in the entire film!! 😭😭😭

I really believe in Imtiaz ali's storytelling and that's why I watched Love aaj kal. But as Anmol pointed out, it was Sara's character that was not as convincing as it should have been. I feel the same for Kartik as well. He also didn't look quite convincing.

Akshay did not respected the role of Samrat Prithviraj enough and just went to the set, read his lines from the script and went back home to sleep at his usual time 8pm. If he would have studied the character, read about the stories and the saga of the great king and perfected his mannerisms, movie could have been much much better. But sadly, we got a crapfest.
i really believe that saif ali khan was the only saving grace other than the music in adhipurush. though he had a bad look and poor walk and some cliche scenes, the man intimidating and his scene with kriti sanon were standouts. he definitely deserves credit for that.

Tbh If I have to see Hrithik in any mythological figure/as God figure, I think Shiva would suit him a lot. Not only could he show the gentle side, he could also portray Shiva's rage and he could also bring about the Natraj side of Shiva. Another similar example of movie Thank god is Baar Baar Dekho, where the concept of the movie is really fascinating as a man goes back and forth in time only to realize that it's people in his life and small moments that contribute to happiness, conceptually movie had potential as it was unique but sadly average performance from Siddharth and Katrina made movie completely forgettable.

I think Sara was fantastic in Atrangi Re. Maybe it's because the role really suited the OTP vibe she gave it, but she was very convincing, charming, and moving. Very underrated movie, and it wouldn't have worked without her part being good.

I think lal singh Chaddha failed due to casting of Amir Khan and his weird execution of the main character. May be another actor would gave done justice to the role.

Hrithik as Lord Rama and Prabhas as Ravana could've made the movie a tad more salvageable. Have never been a fan of the new crop, to be very honest. Arjun Kapoor is the wrong choice for a negative character, going by his past record. Abhishek Bachchan could've been tried or maybe, Salman or SRK, if only looking at Hindi film industry. Else, options in Southern Industries are a lot. Surya or even Arjun Das can make for good negative characters. However, screenplay and chacterization is key.
I think singham 3 must have a villain that should be calm, methodical, stoic and a master manipulator sort of villain who does not represent any social issue...but someone with a much more personal vendetta...much like Baron Zemo in the civil war...So as to provide an intellectual challenge for Bajirao Singham and his grp of officers...an actor like Nawazuddin Siddiqui Or even, and I knw its just a long shot...but someone like Rajkumar Rao to play the kind of role

Well they have taken Arjun kapoor to act in the remake of " Ayyapanum koshiyum" a malayalam movie about a rivalry between a rowdy police inspector and a ex military havildar turned jnto a bootlegger . This was a really good action thriller with great twist and turns to the story . I have only seen it in bits and pieces but i loved what i saw . Couldn't find the dubbed version or eng subtitles vala version of it anywhere except Amazon prime.
Earlier john Abraham and Abhishek bachchan were supposed to be in it but Abhishek backed out of it for some reason and now Arjun kapoor is in that movie.

I don't know about wrong casting of prabhas in adipurush. Yes, the presentation is the worst. But, I really want hrithik vs prabhas combo man. This is something I imagined a while back as a telugu film back. The killer combo. I heard that prabhas was considered for war 2 first and he rejected the role.

Well this is what I do not like. Bollywood has this bad habit of kicking their own butt. When this industry has actors Harshvardhan Rane who will just nail a role of an antagonist, they choose a person who can't even move his eyes while acting. I really am speechless.

I believe ayushmaan as Ram and raj kumar rao Lakshman would have been a good duo in adipurush as we have seen them in bareli ke barfi. Also sunil shetty as ravan would have been better choice because of his deep voice. I guess talent like sonu sood would be good to see as hanuman. Vidyut jamwal would have been better indrajeet and randeep hooda as vibhishan. According to me that would be perfect casting. Although with that vfx and flaws movie would have still been a flop. 😅
