I loved the fact Rocky explored every little detail he can find in these chapters! The attention to detail is insane! I’m glad they put the time and care into it.

Loved your exploration of the 2 chapters. Poking about to take in all the details is great. Wish you spent a bit more on the posters and signs, but maybe I'm just a slow reader. Can't wait for the rest of it to be made.
I wanted to try and uncover a bunch of little details and see what the devs had added for us to find... supposedly I missed some more of Barney's amazing pranks... oh AND the CCTV room. But that just means I get to play it again and poke around some more! :D

I really like when players actually interact with and "examine" everything. This allows you to fully experience the game. Well made games are meant to be played that way.

Oh damn, played the mod for the first time just a month ago, so this is what it looked like back in 2021. Wow, the animations for some of the stuff looked weird, glad they improved on it since then. Even added new animations. Like the part with Gordon passing you in the train, think he actually gives you a wave.
Oh yeah they have done some solid work over the last few years and I think it's going to get even better! :D

It looks amazing. I only wish Tripmine studios would combine with HECU collective. If I were a dev for Guard Duty i would just abandon it and work on opposing force after seeing this...cuz not only is this getting developed 1000x faster (cuz the assets are all pre-made, granted), it's clearly the remake that audiences will Adopt as official
Why would they combine? They both have total different visions of Blue Shift where Tripmine is literally doing a full remake of it instead of BM:BS, where it’s just built in BM:S. If they merged it would be a catastrophe.
This is the route Tripmine should have gone. Not 14 years of remaking assets which already exist and continually starting over. I’d be surprised if they ever release anything.
@@cyrid1038 are you kidding me? Guard Duty has been in development hell for over a decade, with virtually nothing to show for it besides a handful of assets they keep rebuilding.
Don't get me wrong, Tripmine has a very ambitious vision for the gameplay overhaul, AND theyre using the newest version of Source (CS:GO, etc). but just look at what THIS team has accomplished in 6 short months...the atmosphere and detail here is incredible, and the momentum theyve got for this development cycle is phenomenal. Guard Duty may never come out, and if it does, it will be years after BM:BS has stolen the spotlight.
Theres that old saying: "If you wait too long making something, someone else will come along and make it better".
Now, imo either team releasing a product with their current trajectory will be disastrous in the sense that both teams have something that the other lacks, and seperate outcomes will be shoddy regardless. vanilla BM gameplay is janky and lackluster, for instance, but thats where Tripmines contributions could shine. meanwhile Tripmines level design looks very medicore from what i see, and sure HECU Collective has an unfair advantage using BM assets, but thats ultimately whats given them rocket fuel for development cycle and ultimately is what guarantees their success
This whole game looks beautiful, wish there was a game where you play at Black Mesa before the Resonance Cascade

I literally played till the elevator part and DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AFTER PLUGGING IN THE CABLE! I tired everything for 10 mins, EVEN THE ELEVATOR PANEL! But it looks like you have to hit it just right. They need to fix this lol.
So it should be noted, that there is another remake of Blue Shift that’s been in the works for much longer than this, called Guard Duty, which will be made with wholly new assets and models and all that, not just a remake using the Black Mesa assets.
It’s being developed by a group called Tripmine Studios, and they’re also working on an Opposing Force overhaul called Operation Black Mesa.
Don't worry Jack, I have my eyes on those guys too :D and from what I've seen, they're doing a great job too! :D

I missread the thumbnail for 'Benrey' and my confusion mixed with excitement got pumped up to a 100. That's what I get for getting through a fever dream.
Anyways, the intro* really feels alive and is packed of things, like there is indeed a bunch of things happening at the same time everywhere, not only when the player's around. Looking forward to what comes next for our well known ol Barney!

@@RockyRockhead I've followed some of it's development and Xen especially seems to differ greatly from the one in Black Mesa. Along with other things such as gameplay, animation details, lighting, etc.

Some parts of the ost doesn't really fit with the theme
This obviously has Valve's permission but I can't work out how HECU Collective is allowed to use Crowbar Collective's assets.
You don't need permission from the developer to make a mod. Keep in mind that you NEED Black Mesa to play this, it's not like the assets are stolen or obtained illegally. Copyright law usually only comes into play when the product is monetized.
Did you just ignore that crowbar collective is also working with the blue shift team??

No, it's a separate remake... This remake uses the assets of Black Mesa to create Blue Shift, I believe Guard Duty is having all assets built for it. :)
Yeah, this has taken 5 months so far. Guard Duty, 14 years and nothing. Once complete I really hope this team moves onto Opposing Force or Decay.
