and i hope they will provide closure to the story of the ones who have been biotransformed with a dlc or in a sequel.other than that it was great for me.

This game was a mess. Minimal advertising, clearly abandoned romance options and a depressing Non Star Trek ending. It's Star Trek... where there is always a way to get a good resolution... the fact that you are locked in to a bad ending no matter what just isn't Star Trek.

@@madquest8 there is so little video game content being created for star trek, so honestly i'll bite everything they throw at me at this point. star wars has so much big video game titles, AAA games etc. there is almost nothing for star trek, and it has a huge fan base, i never understood that. Yes there is old FMV and some strategy games etc. But no third person game with modern graphics or something like that. Only things that are worth playing are this game and star trek online. There is also star trek bridge crew, but it's meaningless without VR and coop. So it doesn't count either.
Same for the samurai/shinobi games or period games from 1600-1890 japan. I am huge fan. But the only game out there is ghost of tsushima (and the way of the samurai series but they are too old). Yes there is a lot of games with samurai and ninja in it, but they are not realistic games with realistic settings. They have monster magic etc in them (like Sekiro or nioh etc). That's not what i am talking about. Only one good game that has a real life setting is ghost of tsushima. And i can't even play that, because i am a pc gamer.
Game developers spam horror games and survival/craft games like crazy. Are really 90% of gamers only interested on those genres? Why do they overlook so many other popular things with huge fan bases. Mind boggling.
Sorry for the rant :) i agree that the endings doesn't sit well with Roddenberry's star trek. New tv series are also shit because of this issue, new showrunners cannot comprehend Roddenberry's star trek philosophy. Even the cinematography differs, new shows are darker, dim lights, more swearing, star trek officers are more prone to greed, jealousy etc. They push aside Roddenberry's evolved society, it's not just about being technologically advanced, it's also being advanced in humanity and society. New shows doesn't fit that description. So i agree that the endings of this game don't quite fit the description as well. But the introduction and development parts were good and enjoyable even though the result part sucked.

@@madquest8 The bigger problem isn't even that there wasn't a way to save the bioformed people - it was that the game literally forgot those people existed at the end. I wouldn't've been opposed on principle to the idea that the bioformed people couldn't be saved (an epilogue scene where Jara goes down to a planet where the bioformed Tkon are building a new settlement and meets Solano whose Tkon has taken on the role of their leader could've been interesting), but I wanted _something,_ man.

I didn't like how easily Bedrosian was willing to let people die. I understand she was upset about what they did to people, but it seems she forgot the principles of Starfleet. To let those people die on the ship goes against everything Starfleet believes in. Also, when Portal asks you to save his people and she wanted them to die too, it's insane. They were innocent, she was willing to destroy a race of beings due to personal prejudice of a few. She was never in my choices for First Officer. In my game I chose Westbrook to confide in about the Captain as since we didn't get along it would make more sense for him to be the one I need on my side. I got the same ending here for the best ending. So maybe I don't need to play again. I am sad that I couldn't save Diaz as I really liked his character. Also, I didn't get the option for Nili to be bioformed a I let Diaz get it as the ultimate sacrifice and to use the hypo as oppose to grabbing the gun to kill Miranda.

Then how she is trying to strong arm me to do as she wants, worst starfleet officer ever... At the end, as she was not on her station and some else was there, I was so happy lol
I don't need an officer on my ship that is ready to let people that are surrendering to die AND go for genocide. She should've been thrown out of SF for what she is like.

I'm not sure that's the best ending, to be honest.... while I got the same best ending, I can't help but feel like there is indeed a better one - where people converted by tkal can be reverted back to their real selves. Also - I wonder what happens if you have portal on your side and kill miranda - will portal still die, forcing you to inject tkal into yourself, or is there a way to the portal to survive?
I do wish the save system was better, allowing us to experiment with various options, rather than having people replay the whole thing. Hopefully I can find a youtube video where those other options are explored.

Yes, he still dies. Yes, you're forced to choose either Diaz or Edsilar to self-bioform (with the hypospray). Yes, whoever you pick (for me, Diaz), gets left behind as it plays out with the same remaining choices.

I keep thinking that there are more options. In Being Human, there were quite a few options/endings, while here.... I'm starting to think that the endings are nearly identical (in principle) - with only slight variations. This being a game designed by the telltale peeps, that shouldn't be too surprising.
It's still a great narrative they came up with, but it's not as 'interactive' as I'd have liked it to be.

Found what you were talking about - friendly portal, miranda killed and the rest is as you say - portal dies, mandatory injection, bla bla bla - so yeah - no choice - the ending is essentially the same regardless of what you do. Again, it's a well designed story - the ending is a tad on the gloomy side, but it is what it is. I keep thinking..... with Portal gone, and with all of the tkal shards being saved up - it'll only be a matter of time until the rest of the remaining tkal rebel, get the shards back and raise their army again. Say what you will, but their tech is vastly superior to anything else in present day. With no supernatural entity (portal) protecting the shards from being stolen, they are a ticking bomb awaiting to be unleashed onto the world by the Tkal.

    • @Xorthis

I had heard there's an ending where Rydek doesn't make captain. Seems unlikely given the limited nature of the game, but any ending where you don't accept an enemy surrender would probably get you a court martial in Starfleet. For what it's worth, I got the same ending as the "best" ending despite allowing Itasca to die and killing Urmott, so those two choices don't seem to affect the game's outcome. In my defense, killing Urmott was an accident: I hadn't expected a lethal choice given that phasers _should_ need to be reset from stun to kill, and this was one of those "do something now" moments. I assumed I was just going to be shown a prompt to fire with no other options, so I pressed the button as soon as I saw it before reading. Oops.

Obviously, you haven’t watched season 3 of DSC. Ensign Sylvia Tilly became acting first officer with multiple officers of Lt Commander rank and higher serving on the ship. It’s not about rank or seniority, but rather who the captain trusts the most and is most comfortable with to carry out his or her orders and to give advice and to be captain if the need arises. As for this particular situation, the lieutenant should have been promoted in rank as well as position by the acting captain. AND why isn’t she wearing the command division red shirt now that she’s an XO?

@@thomashong2938 Tilly's stint as XO is a bad example because it should never have happened. It was a decision made entirely for real world reasons: they wanted a core character to be XO instead of a minor character, given the XO's importance on the ship. That much makes sense. Problem was, they didn't have any core characters that were suitable for the position, so they wrote Saru making a decision that no Starfleet captain (who wants the trust and loyalty of his senior officers) would ever make. Then they made it worse by having everybody be inexplicably okay with it. In short, it was just really, _really_ bad writing.

Also, I really thought they put a trill on the cast to suggest consensual submission to bioforming, but she actually didn’t even approve of symbiotes. I guess it was never to actually be on the table.
Lastly, I am surprised there was never a scene where they outright say why bioforming is wrong, they just assume that all species have universal values. It seems not very Star Trek if they don’t call out violation of autonomy.

instead of saving her, you order them to complete the teleportation of the alydians. so plasma burn from the conduit burns her face and eyes. doctor arrange a prosthetic like the one geordi la forge uses in TNG.

@@Dzsorden1 i sorta couldn't help but go along with the "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” philosophy as a massive vulcan fan. the death of 15 people outweighs the facial burn of a star fleet officer who is literally there to help others as it's her duty. Also she was the one who grabbed the conduit with her bare hands, nobody ordered her to do so, and i think it would be disrespectful and belittling to ignore someone's attempt to be selfless.

Because it goes against the absolute core principles of the Federation to protect and value all life, no matter what. The Tkon who were in the vault were not Scions. Portal make it very clear.

So, the best ending is the one in which you royally piss off your most dedicated fan to the point they leave you for all time? How painfully appropriate for modern day Star Trek.
