    This is what happens when rural fire departments do not specify and build their apparatus for rural firefighting, or when those firefighters don’t respond with the appropriate apparatus FIRST.
    Volunteer departments are already at a disadvantage due to the time delays from the report of the fire until the first units arrive. So why not arrive with the apparatus that will provide the best possible capabilities to combat the fire?
    Bring as much on board water as possible first and start the attack, even if it is defensive from the start to finish.

      Not all of Readington twp is rural. I have lived in the town for many years. There is a business section with a few outdoor mini malls each having a dozen or so stores. A retirement village and several condo/townhouse developments. Consequently you need to balance the needs of the entire community when purchasing equipment. Buying 20 brush trucks for fighting large brush fires might seem ideal but they are off little use at a structure fire.

      @@cdstiles128 I too am familiar with Readington twp , but when talking about firefighting, typically any area not served by a dedicated municipal water supply (water main system supplying fire hydrants) is considered rural firefighting.
      Outside of the Rte 22 corridor and some of the Rte 202 corridor, the majority of the Twp does not have a dedicated supply, therefore, Twp fire departments need to utilize “rural” tactics.
      Each company on the initial alarm has the capability to respond with apparatus carrying in excess of 2500 gallons, yet they won’t/don’t do it.
      So what I meant by that post is that the companies know their initial response areas (where hydrants are located and where they aren’t) BEFORE a fire occurs. So with that advanced knowledge, they should respond with the apparatus that carries the most amount of water, giving them the greatest advantage on arrival.

      @@cdstiles128 The original post referred to tankers and pumper-tankers [although not specifically by name]. They are needed just as much, if not more, on house fires. I don't see how you could have gotten the idea the OP was referring to brush trucks. I formerly lived in an area without fire hydrants, and the minimum size tank on any structural fire pumper was 1,000 gallons. The typical tank size on urban and suburban pumpers is 500 gallons

    Must of been a water shortage because of the lack of lines out on the fire ?

    • @cdstiles128
      @cdstiles128 2 месяца назад +3

      I live in Readington Twp, that area does not have any hydrants, as does most of the town. Tankers bring water in and dump their water into the portable tanks and the fire engines draft from them and feed the hand lines, deck guns and aerial ladders.

    Living on the edge.....millions of dollars of equipment and a half dozen or more firefighters plus other (volunteer EMS?)people not even suited up all in the collapse zone. They are lucky they didn't destroy that one arial Ladder/Pipe truck. Maybe the video is deceptive, but it looks like it is way too close to the burning structure which does eventually collapse.

    They needed at least 25 more dressed up fire fighters to walk around the trucks and possible 6 more trucks to walk around I mean hell at least polish the wheels of the truck maybe 😅😅😅 tax funded waste looks like they need more funding
