Harold Reid (bass) Don Reid (lead) were the brothers. Lew DeWitt had the most distinctive voice on those high harmonies and rare to see him without playing a guitar in a performance. Phil (sorry can't remember his last name) rounded out this fantastic quartet. Great song. Oh, and theybchose the name Statler from a box of Statler tissues in the record companies office.

Johnny was a mentor to them and gave them their big break . They wrote and sang a tribute song to Johnny Cash for being their mentor called “We got paid by Cash “ . I grew up singing the Statlers around the family piano and when my beloved mother who taught us that all songs are love songs passed away, we played the beautiful, slowed down cover of this song by Kelly Hogan at her grave side. Check her version out. In the entire Statler catalog there is only one bad song and that is 'New York City', it's a coward's ballad and I'd love to hear your take on it. Thanks for all you do, including bringing these voices to a new generation.
