Is anyone else in the same situation as me where I can't stop watching this video! I can't get enough of this performance, one of the best of this song. The instrumentals are just stunning and out of this world! I love Immi, but this is just beyond anything!
Maybe that's because Imogen is so bad-ass? I mean, her arrangement of, and instrumentation for, this song are just killer, and it's just a great tune, and she sings it so beautifully; and, I really like her piano work on this version, too.
She stopped smiling when Letterman called her Dude. What a shame. Imogen is very beautiful, Talented, Hands Down would wipe the floor with BSpears in a talent contest. I've been to her shows and met her once, she is amazing and very tall, taller than me and I'm 6ft. I was surprised!
I adore Imogen Heap, and I find it kinda funny how she forgot her own lyrics at 2:14, by repeating "As hiss and echo gain, irises retreating to ovals of white", instead of "Yet no one cares to notice, for all their yamming on I clam up, to hold it together". Maybe she was nervous, but I'm glad she didn't choke and just continued on where she had messed up as if nothing happened.
Her voice gives me goosebumps. I think people got offended by Letterman because it sounded like it could be a backhanded insult, and her music means a lot to a lot of people. Shows passion for the artist, which can only be good.
OH MY GOODNESSSSSS!!! Those piano notes just makes this song SOOOO incredible to listen to. It takes me out of this world. Way better than the original version. I love you IMOGEN. Thank you for giving me those piano melodies and chords. And for making me travel to another dimension.
Poor Immi, she was so fantastic and being so sweet and Letterman was just trying to get on with ending his show on time lol... i love Immi to bits and pieces, she's phenominal!
yes I met her totally unexpected. Here at after a show in LA. She came out with her assistant and had a sharpie to sign autographs. She is SO nice and I brought her flowers and she gave me a big hug. Got my picture taken with her, but I was so tounge tied felt like I had a novacaine shot. but it's all good. She truly knows the value of her fans and is really nice. Hope you get to meet her too.
that was a great performance, i love seeing artists getting into their stuff and engrossing themselves in their music. it gives me such a nice feeling. i love imogen heap's music but above all i love her performances !
Anyone else watching this after seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?? This is the song in the opening scene, and I had to track it down!! Props to Ms Heap!!
soo talented! she's just one of those people who you watch and makes you say to yourself "now she was born to do what she does!" no doubt that she is far more talented then all those other wacky performers out there who are getting paid millions but don't even have real and raw talent.
Gotta give Dave at least this, his joke about how all the talented singer-songwriters are English is the only legitimately funny thing I have ever heard him say.
It was a good performance -- like others have said, Immi really found her footing halfway through (in a sense, the song could have been a little stronger acoustic). Did anyone else notice Immi's expression completely change when Letterman called her a 'dude'? I think he touched some sort of childhood nerve there.
Did anyone notice she got the lyrics mixed up on the second chorus? Lol, but she did it with grace! Any mistake she makes turns out to be a success all in itself! LOVE YOU, IMMI.
I'm so glad she decided to use her gear and not just do acoustic, even though wither would have been amazing as well. Immi totally dazzled everyone again. That was so SO Great!!!!
i must admit ... other than the twat comments by letterman at the end... this is my fav version of the song... even better than the album version... love her to bits... what a talent... sigh... cant wait till Feb... when i see her live again in the UK :)
You guys are overreacting to the "dude" comment. He even said it in a cartoony skaterboy voice, "I'm totally there, dude!" Don't forget, he is a comedian. He obviously didn't mean it in an offensive way. He had just asked if he could come to her house in London for dinner, for crying out loud. And, yes, Immi was amazing as always. Can't wait for her to tour. She was brilliant on the last one.
I must say this is Immi on very bad form but she pulled it off very well. She didn't have long to rehearse the song and I think any of her vocal mistakes would have been eclipsed by everyone's "what does that machine do?" amazement! :D
how the hell does she do all those things while singing... geez... her talent overflows with greatness..... wtf did he say dude ffs... Immis face totaly changed at that point... the muppet
I discovered Imogen today thanks to Dan Black... Thank you. So inspiring, but what I want to know is.. Did Mr Letterman ever get his home cooked dinner? Merci mille fois
@chaosandisorder I wouldnt really call it selling out. she is a professional musician. I'm not a big fan of jason derulo myself but she may have been flattered that another aritist enjoyed her song so much they wanted to sample it and on top of royalties she also would have got alot of publicity from the song being used by a mainstream artist.
B1TMAN is right, she is often a bit sharp or flat. A finer musical ear can be developed with time, some are more picky than others. Good for you if you hear a seemingly flawless performance though. ;)
I don't see the problem with Letterman. He was just being himself; he's actually had her on his show several times and seems to genuinely like her music :/
@Luaeria There's a stage manager probably pointing at his watch and giving him looks. I don't think it was David's idea to cut her off like that. There's also the network to contend with who have already sold time slots for the next show.
she really was ahead of her time and just continued to be for the rest if her career
She didn’t go anywhere 😊
@@larey9484 mb you misunderstand my comment above , I meant that her career is anything but over, she continues wonderfully
she has more talent in her little finger than most artists... go immi.. XxX
Is anyone else in the same situation as me where I can't stop watching this video! I can't get enough of this performance, one of the best of this song. The instrumentals are just stunning and out of this world! I love Immi, but this is just beyond anything!
I watch it over and over and over lol
I kept coming back to it after all these years.
David James I can not stoo
Maybe that's because Imogen is so bad-ass? I mean, her arrangement of, and instrumentation for, this song are just killer, and it's just a great tune, and she sings it so beautifully; and, I really like her piano work on this version, too.
I'm still watching it in 2021... and I saw it when she was on originally. Just so great!
The end never ceases to make me cringe. Imogen was being so sweet and then he says "I'll be there DUDE" AND her face is exactly how I feel every time
he was always a twat tbh
She stopped smiling when Letterman called her Dude. What a shame.
Imogen is very beautiful, Talented, Hands Down would wipe the floor with BSpears in a talent contest. I've been to her shows and met her once, she is amazing and very tall, taller than me and I'm 6ft. I was surprised!
This version with the added piano notes is beautiful.
This is proof of something, not sure what but its something very big and very important.
I wish we could buy this version. The piano she adds in it makes it sound so good.
She has created her own world of music and lives in it - brilliant, gifted, amazing.
It's almost like Mike Oldfield and Kate Bush had a baby and named her Imogen.
@@JonCrowley-dw7yfKate Bush doesn’t have a quarter of the musical gift that Imogen has.
Her voice gives me goosebumps. I think people got offended by Letterman because it sounded like it could be a backhanded insult, and her music means a lot to a lot of people. Shows passion for the artist, which can only be good.
So excellent. The best performance of this song anywhere...wish it were downloadable.
Keith Nelson I can show you how to download it
this just sends shivers down my spine, utterly magical
No one else does what Immi does. The most creative musical artist I’ve been an absolute fan of since I listened to ‘Who’s getting scared now’.
It sometimes feel as if she belongs in and come from a magical and fantastical land of futuristic Harry Potter or something.
Funny that this is now the basis for the opening track "Platform 9 3/4" she just did for HP and the Cursed Child
Words are useless here. Just pure love here. Amazing! Perfect!!!!!!
I luv Imogen and this performance of a lifetime of this song... and I miss David Letterman...
OH MY GOODNESSSSSS!!! Those piano notes just makes this song SOOOO incredible to listen to. It takes me out of this world.
Way better than the original version. I love you IMOGEN. Thank you for giving me those piano melodies and chords. And for making me travel to another dimension.
I think this is better than the studio version! Just amazing!
What a legend.
Made me tear up... she's magnificent.
Autumn is coming so I started listening to first train home! This song really fits in autumn
Best of the best! Love her :)
This was her best live performance i think!
Poor Immi, she was so fantastic and being so sweet and Letterman was just trying to get on with ending his show on time lol... i love Immi to bits and pieces, she's phenominal!
Sound production is amazing.
listened to it twice before i realised...because i was just so gosh darn amazed by her overall performance! :D
I love this live version!

GotDAMMMM! Imogen is THE BEST!!
I COULD LIISTEN TO THAT SONG ALL DAY! Letterman wont show for dinner, but I will - Thanks for the melodies
Her hair is so amazing.
I've watched this about 10 times in a row now.
Lmao, this was when Twitter was in its beginning days... Happy New Year
i think he is high, leave him alone.
Imogen you are fantastic!!!!
Exentric Brits..how shit would the world be without them🇬🇧
the best artist ever.... and shes English...enough said
Stunning, in ever sense of the word! One of the best performances ever, really.
i love her and her one woman band!
My favorite version.
Best song ever created simple as that
such a great performance! one of my favorites
that was a great performance, i love seeing artists getting into their stuff and engrossing themselves in their music. it gives me such a nice feeling. i love imogen heap's music but above all i love her performances !
Yeh I noticed that, but great musicians work it out! She's so amazing!
Exquisite and stunningly unique musician.
Anyone else watching this after seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?? This is the song in the opening scene, and I had to track it down!! Props to Ms Heap!!
the synth riff at 2.51 kicks ass
I'd love in first hear this song!!!
Such an amazing woman !
I admired this woman!!
J'adore , Quel Talent, Quelle Voix !
soo talented! she's just one of those people who you watch and makes you say to yourself "now she was born to do what she does!" no doubt that she is far more talented then all those other wacky performers out there who are getting paid millions but don't even have real and raw talent.
It's effen awesome.
Gosh.. thx God for creating such artist
loved it , seen official video loved them both
merveilleux
Gotta give Dave at least this, his joke about how all the talented singer-songwriters are English is the only legitimately funny thing I have ever heard him say.
She had the best sense of style its so her!
plus... that note she belts out at 3.28... makes me shiver... awsome :p
I find it wrong that I enjoyed this song very much -proud-
linket, you should seen her in Oslo.. she absolutely rooocked live, it was a stellar performance!
It was a good performance -- like others have said, Immi really found her footing halfway through (in a sense, the song could have been a little stronger acoustic).

I like how she brings her studio on stage
I love her.
wooo!!!! brillaint performance Immi!!!
I LOVE HER!!!
It is a very very nice.

INVENTING THE GENRES

Immi's amazing as always! :)
I just listen to some terrible music and had to come here to remember there is great music still here
Damn.
Well hello soma
Lorde Voldemort Oh hai
she could be such a great dj
this song always remembering me to someone...
She does so much with her gear, I get nervous that she's going to miss a cue. Well done.
Wish that she could give a demonstration of what she's dooin'with all her gadgets and goodies :-) I've seen the bodysuit with the gloves. Awesome.
Day 2: Still an astounding performance. Wonderful
Although she wrote the song some time ago,in all fairness she had a lot on her plate at the time she got this bit ready for teevision
I must say this is Immi on very bad form but she pulled it off very well. She didn't have long to rehearse the song and I think any of her vocal mistakes would have been eclipsed by everyone's "what does that machine do?" amazement! :D

this melody...
I find with Immi -- as with most artists -- she has some lacklustre performances, and other times they are entirely breathtaking.
holy shit dem instrumentals *____*

@liyanam i agree its got much more energy to it
@ChipChipBreak cause the way he said "i dont care" kinda strongly implied he wouldnt be there for the food... :P if you ask me
B1TMAN is right, she is often a bit sharp or flat. A finer musical ear can be developed with time, some are more picky than others. Good for you if you hear a seemingly flawless performance though. ;)

So much easier with the gloves now :D
She missed a verse in 2:15 she was busy mixing music... quite hard to do live though....
me too :)

you've met her !! lucky dog !! is she nice ??
