Seeing these "hacks" like placing and deleting, using previous elevation to next elevation, absolutely convinced me the pathing in Planet Zoo does suck. They could have at least added a 3d grid.

Some great tips here even that I didn't know, that curve trick on the plaza is handy for odd shaped plazas that I often resort to using mulch beds to hide all the weird path shapes. A favourite piece of mine to use for the custom path kerbs is the breeze block trim which i use virtually everywhere in my zoos.
Pathing definitely sucks though, I can't think of a more painful feature of the game. Experience helps but my god some days I want to throw my computer out the window.

No, the pathing DOES suck.. you shouldn't have to place and delete paths 4 times to get a somewhat straight line. Also the Zoo entrance is 8m wide and can make 8m wide paths, but the is no way to just do a straight 8m wide path going from the entrance.

The tips and tricks in this video are very useful but it still doesnt mean that the path system isnt bad, infact it pretty much reaffirms how bad it is . the fact that you need to use all kinds of different tricks and techniques, and spend long amounts of time fine tuning and adjusting those small details, and using work arounds to get what yo can do not what you want to do just shows how bad the path system is. You can see just by the fact that you have to spend any effort on such a small amount of path that the systme is not optimized and built well. I mean its not much when its just a tutorial video but when you're building a entire zoo if you have to spend that much time and effort on those tiny details to make something work or look right, well thats just insane.

Hi Leaf, love your content. Im a console player, and have been playing non stop since its launch months ago, i cannot get enough of this amazing game, however the pathing system does suck. It just does. Unfortunatley i already know all of the "tips and tricks" in this video apart from the little staff section piece, which is great. Ive built lots of path and pretty much get it to work most of the time, but having next to no control over whether you make a slope or a stair other than distance guess work, and clicking in and out of said section is a terrible mechanic. Trying to change height whilst having the path selected does not work. You cannot choose if you want a slope or stair on an existing piece of path to join on an already placed path on a different elevation. It only works by trial and error. I love this game but spending a ridiculus amount of time to try a build a simple section of path is unforgivable. It honestly feels like you have to try and glich the process to get it to work.

I agree with a lot of your points, but they should take a page from Paradox/Colossal in Cities Skylines and use their pathing and roadway tools for Planet Zoo 2 and hopefully in Planet Coaster 2. That game while still no perfect I think has the core system down to a lot more user friendly level.

I'm not sure if it's been done (I can't find a video anyway), but maybe teach us how to make realistic barriers along paths that would overlook depressed terrain? Like when the guests are higher than the exhibit looking down at the animals. I end up with really wide concrete blocks trying to cover terrain that sticks out and it blocks guest views and doesn't look realistic.

Pathing still sucks. Coming from a sims builder pov the building system in planet zoo feels very clunky and dated and restrictive. I can make perfect paths in the sims without needing to readjust after placement, i can move objects anywhere i want upscale/down scale anything i want in the sims. If planet zoo had the sims 4 building system building would be 10xs easier and alot less janky.

My question is how to integrate the path into building, such as in career scenario they got some Arabic/Indian style castle which has fake fort and stairs, how to make the guests walk on it? Or in the latest oceania career mode, they got some interesting pre-made houses but they are not sitting at ground level, so how to make it work because you cannot move those houses neither

These are all really nice tips. But they also show that pathing in planet zoo does indeed suck. These are all workarounds for basic stuff that shouldn't need workarounds in the first place. Why is it so complicated to create a simple plaza? Why is it necessary to use this place and remove technique?
My point is: Without watching tons of tutorials it is really frustrating for most people to create simple paths in this game.
