I really like this build. I was looking for a strong and stable build for a flip top workbench and like this one the best. I found an edition of woodsmith complete small shop but I didn’t see the plan for this build, do you have a working link to the correct book or possibly the plan for this build, because I believe I’m gonna try and build it to make space for my shop?
Needing to make one or two of these things. Nice additions, I haven't seen the bracing add-on before. Smart. I would guess that metal corner braces do the same thing but you didn't have to buy them, right? But.... I think that you need to add more clamps on to those boards. You didn't have enough on there! Ha ha ha
The bracing definitely helps keep the structure more rigid. I used 3/4 plywood because it was on hand and worked perfectly. You can never have to many clamps!!!
Point well taken. My Grandfather sent his to the can in 1963. I have his craftsman. While I know what can happen I stop on rip cuts. I then flip it over to finish the cut. Looking into adding something to my blade inserts in the future.
Great build and a much needed one at that. I was watching when you were doing the drawer and fitting the handle, and i thought to myself 'i recognise this build from somewhere'? then i read the description and there it was, 'Brad at Fix This, Build That' ha ha ha. Barry (ENG)
@@TwoBitWoodworks I know but i don't really deal with Woodsmith here in the UK. I have those plans off Brad but haven't got round to building it yet?? that's why i thought it was similar. Thanks for the reply. Barry (ENG)
👍 to your little helper not enough fathers passing on wood working skills to their children But again I don’t see many adults have any working by hands skills I’ve done construction work since I was 14 started digging ditches to working as job Forman for a company building Hospitals surprised how many guys can’t read a tape measure ! Nice little project thanks for posting
What is the model/part number on that Mafell dust bag? I have the same Makita saw and I called makita, they don't have a dust bag that would fit this saw yet they sell at least 12 to 15 different dust bags.
@@TwoBitWoodworks Yes that was the only source I have found it on. I saw your video awhile back and remember finding it on the timberwolftools site. I was hoping to find it cheaper. I am shocked that Makita does not provide one when they sell so many dust bags.
@@TwoBitWoodworks Yes I saw it. It will be my fallback site as I am trying to get it cheaper. With shipping it is $71. It is not on Amazon where I get free shipping. ;-)
Great video and techniques! Thank you! I'm reviewing things to rebuilt my flip-top stand. Was a bad job. First of that type. Been a few yrs now, time to re-do. Love the ideas I got from you. As you, I work in a small shop too. Keep up the great work! Thanks!!
TwoBit Woodworks , I did. Other than the music the rest was top notch. I think the people that would come to your channel do not come for the tunes. They’d rather have either you narrate, or allow some of the machinery to be the background noise. Cheers!!!
Nice job!
Thanks very much
Nice build, good job.
Thank you Gregor, glad you enjoyed the build!
Looks like a tank. Great job.
Thanks Chad, it really is pretty beefy. No movement in this thing that's for sure.
You should do a shop tour. I live in Chicago and will also be building a shop using half of my 2 car garage. Could use some ideas!
Matthew Ziomek As soon as I get a few more pieces in place I think a shop tour will be a great idea. Thanks for watching!
Very ingenious approach.
StuffUCanMake thank you, not my overall idea but making it sturdier is a huge benefit.

I just used the Woodsmith book as a guide and beefed it up where I needed. So as of right now I do not have plans for the version I built.
Great build and video. That thing is a beast!
Evergreen Cottage thanks so much, glad you liked it!

Where is your riving knife?
nel6211 it’s on my SawStop 😄 I never had one on my old Jet.

Barry Roberts it’s also from the book, The Complete Small Shop with a few variations of my own.

Nice tool setup but question were would I fine the detail instructions to build this table?
This build is a combination of a few different sources. Woodsmith Small Shops book is where I first saw the plans.
great video, how do you make your tool organize back on the wall, do you have a video for that.?
Rob Mo hi and thanks for watching Rob. I do have a video on my channel for the French cleat wall.
im all set to build this tomorrow. im wondering what the dimensions of the top surface are for the dewalt planer? I have the same planer. thank you!
Awesome! Good luck with the build. The top dimensions were 27" x 21.5"

Turkey Creek Knives thank you so much for that! He’s always ready to lend a helping hand, even if it is just to vacuum out some holes.

Robert Knowles it’s the Mafell track saw dust bag 206921.

I actually found the model number right after I made this post. Mafell 206921 It is very hard to find it being sold in the US.

Thanks for the feedback Gary! While working in a small shop has its disadvantages, it does take significantly less time to clean lol.

the music is annoying, more so when you are talking
I would have left a thumb’s up if you had left off the annoying repetitious music.
