In this video, I am going to show you how I build an alternative to the very popular flip-cart stand. I have been needing to build a tool base to house tools in one footprint for quite some time. I needed something that would allow me to utilize both tools at the same time if necessary, so this is what I came up with. The larger stand is compact, but big enough and strong enough to handle the weight of the Dewalt dw735x thickness planer. The smaller stand utilizes a motorcycle lift, which allows you to raise the tool to a comfortable working height. When it is not in use, it can be lowered and tucked back into the larger tool stand.

My back hurts looking at the belt sander. Interesting idea but looks like it would come out too low for me.
I get the frustration about not being able to use both tools. I think that comes back to needing to think about your workflow and what sequence of tools you use to build with. Usually by the time you're using the belt sander your planeing was completed several steps ago.

Curious about this too. I LOVE the idea of the lift stand but that particular one seems to be a little low to work with comfortably? Granted, higher / bigger ones are usually more expensive.

I’ve actually found motorbike lifts that range from 300/900mm or 1’/3’ high which would accommodate almost any tool for this application

I had a similar thought!! my big issue with the idea is that it’s 6/8’ to low maybe adding a drawer underneath the sander for extra belts and Bibs n Bobs.
