    Please click "Read more" for links and more information. Yes, that is the sound of the actual model in the video! Please visit (www.horizonhobby.com/search?q=E-flite+F-16+80mm&search-button=&lang=default) for more information on the E-flite F-16 Falcon 80mm EDF.
    The E-flite® F-16 Falcon 80mm EDF jet is the Smartest, most detailed and best handling high-performance replica of the world-renowned fighter yet! Extra Scale details, including molded-in panel lines, simulated antennas, indicators, sensors, optional-use ordnance, and more take realism to the next level. Functional Extra Scale features include LED navigation and landing lights, full-flying stabs, sequenced gear doors plus the most scale-like retractable landing gear installed on an F-16 EDF model yet. Both versions include nine factory-installed digital, metal-geared servos, and with the ARF Plus version you can install the compatible receiver and an 80mm EDF power system of your choice - from another similar class model or using other compatible components. The BNF® Basic version comes factory-equipped with a Spektrum™ AR637TA receiver that includes exclusive AS3X® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies, along with a V2 12-blade 80mm fan, high-power 2100Kv brushless inrunner motor and a 100-amp Avian™ Smart ESC to deliver fantastic performance with popular 6S 4000-7000mAh LiPo batteries. This efficient power system provides better performance and longer flight times than the 6S-compatible power systems used in similar sized models powered by 90mm EDFs. The ESC and receiver supply real-time battery voltage, motor RPM and other telemetry data via compatible transmitters. Constructed of durable, fully-molded EPO, this F-16 assembles without glue and can be ready to fly in less time than other similar class models!
    ARF Plus Completion Level (ARF Plus version only)
    This Almost-Ready-To-Fly (ARF) Plus version comes out of the box with factory-installed servos that are ready to connect to the compatible receiver of your choice (sold separately), plus the transmitter and battery you provide (also sold separately). You can also install the power system of your choice, either from another similar class model, or using other compatible components (all sold separately).
    Bind-N-Fly® Completion Level Advantage (BNF® Basic version only)
    Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!
    Exclusive Technologies (BNF® Basic version only)
    This high-performance F-16 Falcon model is equipped with exclusive Spektrum™ AS3X® and SAFE® Select technologies. AS3X works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits along with automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch to make this an easier to fly Falcon! And if you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally and only AS3X will be active.
    High-Performance EDF (BNF® Basic version only)
    The V2 12-blade 80mm fan, high-power 2100Kv brushless inrunner motor and 100-amp ESC combine with your 6S 4000-7000mAh 30+C LiPo battery to deliver great vertical performance and a fantastic speed range with virtually instantaneous throttle response. This efficient power system also delivers better performance and longer flight times than the 6S-compatible power systems used in 90mm class models. But what makes the experience truly rewarding is the fantastic sound it produces - it's almost like a real turbine.
    Extra Scale Details
    The F-16 Falcon 80mm EDF features an accurate outline and an abundance of Extra Scale details including molded-in panel lines and hatches, simulated antennas, indicators, sensors and much more. And, unlike other similar class models that require you to spend more to buy them separately, it includes a full complement of optional-use and easy to install/remove ordnance including six missiles plus three drop tanks.
    Functional Extra Scale Features
    Factory-installed LED navigation and landing lights, full-flying stabs, control surfaces with pocket hinges - even sequenced main gear and nose gear doors - are functional Extra Scale features that take your experience to another level. An optional simulated afterburner LED ring is also available separately to further enhance your experience.

    I love the look and its proven solid reputation of this F-16 model. But I've held back buying it only because E-flite/HorizonHobby tends to drop models very quickly. It's been 3 years since this review and the model is still available! It must be a record for Horizon Hobby.

      We've sold numerous models for upwards of 5-10+ years now. And if a model doesn't sell well, we typically discontinue it after 2 years or so to make room for something new!

      Possibly! But it would be better to move to the E-flite F-16 Thunderbirds 70mm model first. The 80mm model flies very similar to the 70mm model all around. It does take a bit more distance for takeoff and (especially!) landing, but other than that they handle almost the same (especially when you fly without the ordnance and drop tanks on the 80mm version...with those installed it's a bit "draggier" and takes more power/control than the 70mm model).

    I was thinking to buy the Draco and now comes out another masterpiece! Stop with compliments and let's go deeper.., what's her taking off distance on grass and on runway, as well as for landing? Our runway is 80meters, and my E-flite Viper without flaps needs all runway to take off and for landing even more. BTW, something else is planned also for teh next month?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 года назад +1

      Takeoffs can be very short (less than 20 meters...see the 0:43 mark in this video), but many will need more than 80 meters for landing with little to no headwind. Also, it is not well suited for most grass surfaces (unless the grass is quite short, not too thick, and the ground under the grass is not very rough...it's best suited for paved and other smooth surfaces). We have MANY more new models coming this year and beyond (we usually release about two dozen new models each year)...from ultra micro to giant scale, trainers to high performance, sport to scale!

      When these are in stock in our CA warehouse (in Ontario, CA), transit time to most locations in CA will be 1-2 days. This model has outsold expectations so we currently only have a limited supply available in our IL warehouse. Transit time to most locations in CA will be 3-5 days from that warehouse, and if you want one ASAP, you should order it right away (otherwise we won't have more stock available until January or February of next year!): www.horizonhobby.com/product/f-16-falcon-80mm-edf-jet-smart-bnf-basic-with-safe-select/EFL87850.html

    Will this also work on a Grass runway?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 года назад

      The landing gear is very scale-like, pretty much all metal, and is painted white right from the factory! It works great on paved and smooth surfaces of course, and might work on some grass surfaces. Grass surfaces vary greatly though (length of the grass, thickness of the grass, how rough the ground is under the grass, etc.), so YMMV when it comes to that.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 года назад

      Top speed can often vary greatly depending on conditions, the performance of your battery, whether or not you have the ordnance/tanks installed, etc. But as Jason noted in the official thread over on RCGroups (seen here: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3883163-The-ALL-NEW-E-flite-F-16-80mm-EDF-Most-Detailed-Best-Handling-Fighting-Falcon-Yet%21): "Top level flight speed is around 120 MPH (using a 6S 5000mAh 30C Spektrum Smart LiPo battery and without the ordnance/drop tanks installed...those do add quite a bit of drag and reduce the top speed by ~10-15 MPH)."
