Yes sir I got the same truck it’s up high it tows very well and it’s got a shit Ton of power big fat tires it was hard to park at first I drove a car all my life,when I bought this bad boy I wasn’t sure because I never really owned a truck before but my buddy has always driven trucks he told me there was one for sale down the street he said dude it’s a 2006 patriot blue looks nice so I took a chance and now I LOVE THIS THING And I don’t care putting money into it because it just keeps driving better.I recommend the 2006 to 2008 to anyone that wants a big ass truck. Tow/Haul mode disables the MDS. I'm looking at a 2008 4.7. Love the body style and the 4.7 went to the corsair design in 08(310HP) supposedly it drives similar to a Hemi and doesn't have the MDS. Also supposed to get better MPG than previous 4.7

I'd complain that the 2006 is the first year for those stupid giant headlights, then I realized I'd never want this truck anyway, because it's also the first year of the Hemi-killing cylinder deactivation.
still scratching my head on lean on driverside , have 08 ram slt big horn , had no issues until replace front struts ,took back to repair shop explained what i was seeing , put another new strut on driverside no change still seeing lean , after that had passenger side strut swapped with drivers side no change , it measures bout 1/2 inch lower on drivers side it actually looks worse than 1/2 inch ,took it to another local shop it was evaluated ,mechanic said he seen problem body mount , it was replaced no change , done lot research on this started looking at 3rd gen rams in our area suprisingly been noticing this lean , it was earlier this summer ,took it upon myself ,before buying leaf springs to swap sides ,and of course no change , trying not to be too conscience of this issue it really bugs me ,it s been good truck ,replaced evap. and heater core earlier this year , and just week ago replaced radiator , not bad for 08 with 104,000 miles , it been bout 18 months since lean come still still on my mind ,had crazy thought , have 2 inch leveling spacer on front , considered replacing driverside with 3 inch spacer keeping this truck regardless , any thoughts also how much and what programmer was that thanks

I would jump on that !!!! Just have to stay on top of basic maintenance do yourself a solid by the programer to turn the cylinder cut back off... I love mine. It burns some gas but has plenty of power and room!

Hey I’m looking at two 2003 and 2006 short beds both one owners. 2003 2500 quad cab leather interior 97,000 and 2006 1500 MegaCab. 116,000. 2006 is rust free 2003 has some rear wheel well arch rust. Im leaning towards 2003 because leather interior heated seats.
Whats you're gear ratio? I have the same exact truck, 5.7 hemi. I have 3.55 gears with 35x12.5x20s. Plenty of power when not towing, but she's a slug while towing. You say yours tows great. Do you have to favor 2nd or 3rd gear?
I just got me the same truck, sitting idle yesterday on the upper display it said 5.8mi, gave it gas down it went, question is why my magnum get close to 30 and truck only 12.4mpg on road trips both?
Upper display has been known to be off. But if it on point then I would definitely do a tune up. I average 16 to 18 that's with a programer set to 87 tuned on 35s with 20s

And How to you feel about it today? Is it a money pit?

Definitely. With every truck /car there are pros and cons . On these newer ones u must stay up on top of the maintenance. So they will last u a long time. I would buy this truck again.

Put new coil springs in front that should fix lean unless you have broken leaf spring or just tried leafs then replace them

I didn’t get the Ram. I ended up getting a 2007 Ford F-150 with 136,000 miles. I got a good deal on it. It just needs some minor work done.

Not at all. I bought a programer and was able to turn off my msd and I getter better gas mpg now that I was before stock.
