All the trim is a major improvement as are the new skirts. But in my opinion the blue interior is what makes that car! I'm still amazed It cleaned up so well.
Agreed! Going to try and keep it and just recreate the pieces missing
The direction you're taking her is spot on Matt. The aftermarket skirts look better. Sans the hood ornament, yet retaining the molding is making her look sleeker. Thank you for sharing!!!
I recently acquired a 1955 Nomad “rolling project car”. All of the inside/outside window trim and garnish moldings were in a big pile on the inside of the car and it’s been a challenge to try and figure out where the pieces go and how they attach to the car. The trim is what makes the cars of this era. The companies who made the trim were absolute masters of metal forming.
Did not think the old skirts looked bad, but after you installed the new skirts, WOW! What a difference. (Good call again,) I like how you take your time and don't skip steps. 1938 is going to want to adopt you.
It pays to stand back and just stare and ponder. Usually gives me time to make those decisions
Love the new skirts and the look of the hood without the handle! Nicely done! 👏
Sketchy test drives with Matt, Steve and Mike! sounds like a side-show.
Shaving that hood ornament was a great move! The 38 vert is really coming together! Great jalopy now, but I can't wait top see it in paint next year! One of my favorite cars!
Loving the 38 ! I personally like the fender skirts. Gives it a look of forward motion even sitting still. Sounds great too. Cheers Matt 👊😎👍
Looking and sounding better and better every time.
Hood trim on the passenger side looks perfect, not so much on the other side. The new side panels look 1000 times better. It's going to be another cool ride.u
Think the drivers side has some damage to the trim which is making it sit just a little off. But yes I noticed that as well.
I never was a big fan of 38 Fords but that car and the work you guys are doing has changed my mind. I love it.
Well, the old skirts didn't look good for sure, and maybe with a paint job, the new ones may look good, but for me, i would go without it, but that's me. The rest of the car looks great 👍🏻
Every video I pick up something new on how to fix or repair a old car and I been doing this for 55 years
Glad to hear!
That Speedboat is Cool Daddy-O !
Classy sled that purrrrs good. Hurry up and get on the road. Can’t wait to see that video
Just a thought; it kinda looks good to me, without the skirts, too.
I am glad you found new skirts instead of ditching them. The front looks very good now that all the trim is sorted and you have removed the hood handle. This car is a "rubber necker" as people will be rubber necking as you pass by. It is very cool and should be a keeper in your collection. This car and your father's car are my two favorites that you have. I see why this car has jumped up in the priority order. It is just too cool to keep down the list.
Yep, everyone loves the 38. I can't wait to see it on the road. I wish I could see it in person.
The trim really makes this lines of the car pop. Getting to stand back and take a look you really see the flowing design of the ‘38 that is more art deco than the ‘39/40. Cooler every day!
The addition of the hood trim and fender skirts look fantastic!! I also think the exhaust tips were a really great choice!!!
Looking low and mean ! Great roadster I love it.
Not a Roadster. It is a Convertible. Roadsters didn't have door glass. They used side curtains. BUT, this IS a cool convertible.
Exhaust sounds great. Good move with skirts. Hood mods perfect. All in all, it is shaping up to be a beautiful car.
the hood shave is a real improvement and the new skirts are spot on. diggin the exhaust tips too! cannot wait to see this in color.
Hey Matt, the '38 is lookin' GOOD! You were really brave to tackle the re-drilling of the hood trim tab holes. Turned out very nice. And the SOUND is GREAT!
I'd love to see the '39 sprayed with dark gray hotrod primer to show off the new trim. Those Lincoln taillights look great and so do the new skirts. Nice job on the hood, Matt!!
Convertible looks great! I would love to see this car go to the next level and painted with a new top, its just too cool not to finish it , a paint job would really make the lines flow!❤
Matt at first I wasn't to sure about the skirts but after seeing the ones you just put on they look great ! I also like the way the hood looks without the top piece ! I'm looking forward to the next update on this project ! I look the sound of it !
Hello, Matt & Steve.
I love all the trim improvements. The bumpers are a huge improvement and fit the car so nice. I love the sound of the exhaust. I noticed the bad ass tips at the first view, which is vary nice. Matt, real nice work on the hood trim. It looks awesome. So much fun to watch this. This old Ford deserves the love it is getting. It is going to be a very cool ride when you and Steve get it done. No rush, steady as you go. It will be worth it in the end. Thanks for another awesome video.
Its definitely got the look now! Good work guys! When I say work ,I mean fun! lol
Looking sharp Matt! Prefer those 40 skirts 😁👍
Wow! Looks like it just rolled out of the little pages!
Skirts look great, gonna be killer when u get the top on it
Nice work on the hood
Looks and sounds great. The car is taking on a real personality. Love the new skirts
I Love it Matt !!! Skirts are rocking
I like the new skirts! I had a 53 Chevy 210 2 door car that I put them on!
I enjoy this channel and rac Travis with Kelly builds garage thank-you for this
Yes, I like the shaved hood.
This just keeps going better every time! Those new skirts looks a way better than the old ones.
The skirts. Ahhhhh (sigh of relief). For the record, I did not hate those other skirts, I DESPISED THEM! Now it is looking absolutely beautiful, I love the lines of that car.
She's really coming around, looks great!
I for one like skirts on the older car's epeacally the luxury car's it don't take away from the looks.
Agreed!
Matt, she's a Bad Ass Custom! I Dig it! ...Newk from Kentucky
The brand new skirts are AWESOME, THAT CAR HAS TO HAVE THEM!
DIDN'T KNOW RACCOONS DID JUMPING JACKS! FUNNY. VERY DETAILED AND INFORMATIVE, LOVE THE SKIRTS ON THIS CONVERTIBLE!
I remember as a kid the older guys used to detrim their vehicles. Now the custom look is with trim reinstated! I'm liking it!
Concentrate on what has been done, don't stress about what will be done later....
I'm not really a fan of fender skirts, but the new ones are a HUGE improvement.
I have to say that the good things you've done with this 38 way outweigh my differences. Pretty soon this car will be back on the road where it belongs and enjoyed. That is alot better than having it rot in a garage. First, the replacement fender skirts are an improvement over the first pair, but I'm not a fan of fender skirts. I like the open wheel look. I also would not have chopped the windshield frame on this very rare body. Chopped windowshield and fenderskirts add to the vintage hotrod look, so I understand why you did it. You've done good competent work on this car .
I have been enjoying this project from the start, but I'm trying to envision the end. I like the hood trim, the shopped windshield, the tail lights, but I'm undecided on the newer shirts. They don't do justice to the body lines YET. I think two important things need to happen. You mentioned in the past about a Carson top. That, I feel will be the finessing of the overall body lines along with the fender skirts, and then all topped off with paint. I can see some of the old magazine pics from the past having these last two body parts installed.
Now's time for some paint...
Uhhhh you have to do all of this metal work before you even think of paint..
@@IronTrapGarage At least now we know You'll get there...
Fabulous job, This car is so sweet. Each addition makes it better and better.
Nice horn ornament shaving music. Great tempo for the fast-forward action. 👍
Was never a '38 fan, but the transformation has made me look at these ugly ducklings in a new way! Keep up the good work!👍
To make this beauty look authentic you need to head for the parts store and buy several rattle cans of red oxide primer to cover up those bare spots. Back in the day every gearhead had at least a couple on cans in the trunk for emergency touch-ups. Love the 38. Keep up the good work.
That is a nice looking car now. The trim and skirts are really good finishing touches. I also like the fish tail exhausts and the sound of the engine. If it was me that car would have a nice paint job and interior and it would be really smart looking,
The old hood ornaments were known to impale people in accidents! You have done a service to humanity AND made the car look even more "bitchin"!
Looks great hood trim looks good hood emblem delete is definitely an improvement and the red skirts look much better
I know you are going too enjoy taking this one on a nice little trip. Happy trails mat way too go bro
Trim looks great, like the exhaust tips. Good call on shaving hood ornament. I'm also digging the skirts , alot of cars had them back in the day. Great Job!
I agree with you about those skirts. Good skirts look good.
The skirts always set the car off when they work well with the design and flow, the visionary design that was i'd presume to look futuristic or sleek as such was definitely achieved back in the day. I always think of the Jetsons with the cars with the skirts
Very cool everything you’re doing is going in the right direction. Great job guys.
Looks great and sounds great. Before your little test ride don’t forget to check the gas.lol😊
Ha!
Looks great. You made a good choice with the skirts. The new ones are very swoopy and match the body line.
Love the 41 bumpers
I want them for my 39 ragtop. Car looks great. Nice work as always.
I like the new trim installed on the hood . I wasn't sure about deleting the original hood ornament , but that did make it look sleeker . The brakes were an important next step in restoring the car . Those skirts look much better than the ones you had on there . Even in fast motion , I could see it was a fight to install the driver's side . I Love the sound of that engine ! It seems to run better , every time you start it up . Those exhaust tips really set it off in the back end . The car is quiet all of the way around , until you get behind it . Very nice ride ! I can hardly wait for the first drive in this 38 . You will likely get a lot of looks , & thumbs up , on it's new maiden voyage around town . This one has enough room for the whole ITG Team to go for a spin , including Moon ! Keep up the great work , guys !
I like it skirts and all
what a looker so coollllll
Looking good!
Love that -38, it is so cool. Keep up the great work.
LOVE everything Matt! Love those new skirts and the trim makes a HUGE difference for the better! 100%
Looking great!!! A period correct or none period correct hood big ornament would look awesome,
Car is looking good but since you ask for our opinion, I'd leave off the skirts. Yes it is a traditional custom touch but myself never cared for them.
I agree.
I agree, look's better without skirts.
Better without also.
love how the overall shape is turning out. 🥞
This is really coming along quite nicely. Great job and I an enjoying waiting your progress very much. My only negative comment is that I wish you would have put a flat head in it.
Not a fan of skirts usually but these look good. Keep the skirts, Suede blue paint (same shade), with a white Carson top. 👍🏼
Dude!! Great video!!! Trim looking good. Hole punch still doing it's job!!!✌️
I love the car over all it is a beautiful piece of America history but personal I can do with out the fender skirts however I know a lot of people love them. Just my opinion. ❤ Your channel keep them coming you guys are great fun to watch.
I personally would put “ wire wheels on the car and ditch the shirts . Otherwise it’s a great piece of work!!!!!
Looks real good liking this car more every time i see it
NICE NICE NICE !!!!
Bueno. Now, with the trim and skirts sorted, angle the windshield back a few degrees, and consider a non-Carson, folding top.
You make it look easy, that's nice work!
The old girl is getting pretty classy
Can't wait for the drive.
This is my most favorite of all of your builds, it is just so cool. The new covers are much better ...
It needs a white Carson top… like the skirts 👍… looks good
I really love this car the changes you made so far just push this car to a high level, I don't understand not liking the skirts they seem the same to me except for the curvature at the bottom is the only difference and I like those much better. You definitely have a keen eye and make good choices in the changes that you make, great content by the way.
Hey Matt, for me personally, I would have to see the skirts painted. If you paint them and you ever sell it at least you would have options for a perspective buyer.
But as for me I like it with the wheel cover totally visible. That’s just my opinion. It is coming around beautifully though.
Dave.
The car will get painted overall eventually.
I live for sketchy test rides around the block. Can't wait!
Haha us too’
Unbelievable: I still have some of those old trim clips in a drawer in my cellar. They were in our body shop when my Dad took it over in 73. I took all the left over things for classic vehicles in 2015. Some will be handed over to someone else when I pass away. At least I hope those things will not get dumped.
100% pure fun. Wow.
Coming along nicely. Looks great.
It's looking really nice. I was wondering if you're going to put the V8 emblems back on the hood sides, seems like that would complete the look. Really enjoying this build.
Those duals sound tuff. Tips look great. Good job 👍
Dig those exhaust tips!
The bumpers look fine!
I think it looks awesome. Really like the hood
you did a great job on the stance.
