Those old green poulans had an aluminum cylinder and a chrome plated piston. They tend to have less compression than modern saws with chrome bores. Good saws and fairy easy to work on.
Yeah seems they made the 4000 in 84 and the rest of the models were either discontinued or no longer produced except the 6900 and 7700 that were also made in 84, this is going to be very interesting for me to watch you work on this participial saw as i have the exact same one a 4000, i really like that saw it was quite well built for that period. have fun
