    Thanks for the fun pattern. There are several RUclips videos showing various ways to carry floats in crochet, both along the edge and within rows. Adding a border can also hide edge floats.

    I made this same pattern many, many years ago. My daughter is 41 now and was about 18 years old when I made it for her. Glad to see it back!!

    Yayyyy.... you are the first person I've ever seen who crochets exactly the same way I do, I hold the hook the same and i wind my yarn around the hook the same, my mum says it's because I learnt to knit before I learnt to crochet... now i don't feel so alone ... hahaha, your instructions are wonderful and your work is really neat... thank you

    I have wanted to do one of these blankets for a while now and just happened to come across your tutorial. I'm in the UK, but I use US terminology, it just makes more sense to me. I haven't had any problems understanding your tutorial though ;)

    Lovely design. Thank you. I’m fascinated by the way you wind the yarn around the hook with your left hand rather than just picking it up with the hook which seems easier. It’s amazing how many different ways people hold the yarn. 😁

    Great pattern and video, thanks! Pretty sure in the US section at the end of row 3 where it says ' last dc into turning chain, turn.' you meant to say SC.

    Love this tutorial. Your voice is so relaxing however that I find myself nodding off sometimes lol. But I have started a throw blanket using this stitch/pattern and I’m using a teal, navy and turquoise variegated yarn as the mortar and a cream hygge yarn as the brick and I must say the effect is rather stunning. I’m also putting a small border around the throw to hide the carrying of the yarn up the sides and also planning to attach some tassels in the corners. Can’t wait to finish it as I have received many compliments so far. I also wanted to let you know that I too saw that the pattern resembles a bikini top with boobs lol. So funny.

    What a beautiful yarn - no separation at all. Everything I've ever worked with has always separated; it's always been stringy - that's not. If you could find out the brand, I'd sure appreciate it.

    • @MsDrientje
      @MsDrientje 2 года назад

      Are you by chance left-handed? I found out recently that some yarns are woven in a direction that makes that left-handed people accidentally unwind it.
      I don't know what to do about it tho. I am left-handed as well and I am just as frustrated with it.

    • @snotrajohnson
      @snotrajohnson 2 года назад

      @@MsDrientje It’s Z-twisted vs S-twisted yarns. Right-handers and left-handers tend to unravel the opposite types of yarn while crocheting. You could try either yarning under (for tighter stitches and possible more strain on your hands and fingers), or looking for the opposite twist of yarn.
      (Right-handed crocheting unravels S-twist; left-handed crocheting unravels Z-twist. You can look up the difference between them online; RUclips doesn’t like non-RUclips links in comments; sorry.)

    Excellent tutorial! I have started this blanket and am three rows of "bricks" in (12 crochet rows). The bricks don't lay flat and are puffy. Will this work itself out as I get more rows in? If not, any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Small mistake in usa term written pattern Row 3. using A, ch1, skip first sc, *1sc into next 9 sts, 1dc into skipped stitch from Row 1, repeat from * to end working last DC into turning chain, turn
    The DC I capitalized is supposed to be a SC? i believe please tell me if I'm wrong i am on the second repeat of this row thank you!

    And then you are not even from another country and have three kinds of terms to juggle with.
    In the Netherlands we have stokjes (DC usa) vasten (SC usa), losse (st usa) dubbele stokjes (DC but yarn over twice)
    It took me ages before I found out there was a difference between UK and USA too. Now I just wrote it down in a book I specifically write patterns in that I translate from English to Dutch.
