Nine minutes into this video and I have counted 6 pink plastic bins that you get toiletries in when you go to the hospital. It is crystal clear this lady has some serious health issues. So glad she reached out for help. No judgement here. Bless you Barbie!
That’s what I thought, this lady has health issues. Those pink bins are given out in rehabilitation/LTC facilities and hospitals.

Barbie I have no idea how you can walk into a place like this and not get overwhelmed. I get overwhelmed to the point I freeze whenever I see just a sink full of dirty dishes. I think I would have a full blown panic attack if I tried to clean this apartment! Cheers to you for taking this on.

Don't think of the complete task. Not "sink full of dirty dishes", but "this plate, this cup, this other plate..." Focusing on one and only one object can help not to get overwhelmed.
Not thinking "what a dirty kitchen", but square foot by square foot, ignoring the rest, literally not seeing the rest.
Years ago my cat had diarrhea. She didn't make it to the cat litter box in time and "exploded" in my bathroom. My husband gagged, but I cleaned up chanting "It is just soil, only soil, nothing but soil..."
It helped me a lot keeping in mind that everything is just soil. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, dirt to dirt.
And there are things like soap and showers if I'm dirty.
The fridge transformation was unbelivable, congrats on the amazing job, Barb!

@@user-kb1he1wh9b I see what you mean. The rodent (inspection supervisor) would be displeased because all the gross stuff is gone, that they lived in. But, alas, these are not human living conditions that the renter should be in because of their personal issues. I don't know what things the renter is dealing with in their life, but I'm glad that they asked for help. Hopefully this will take the stress off of them, so that they can get the mental care that they need.

But illness and depression can really turn people’s lives upside down, you work so hard Barbie. You are an amazing person. Thank you for everything that you do.

Yes, we just finished cleaning a hoarder house with the whole place in this condition, with the mice so used to the tenant not doing anything to try to get rid of them than they weren't even afraid of us. After cleaning the stove, I saw a mouse running into the slotted vent near the back of the top, and we looked closer and found them nesting inside. That immediately went to the dump. the house used to be nice, but her mental illnesses led her to living like that, which attracted the mice. We're just about done completely renovating the house. We had to completely gut the kitchen and bathroom, We're looking forward to selling it - beautiful again. No more rentals for us. It took nearly a year to get her evicted.
I’m sorry to hear that. It’s sad when tenants basically become like squatters and have more rights than the owners. That’s so wrong on so many levels. I’m glad you finally got them out of there. You can’t help people who don’t want help then take advantage of the situation.
@@laurabenevelli6783 Thanks. She has multiple mental illnesses, so we give her a lot of grace. I'm just glad that she's with caregivers now. She was living in those toxic conditions without recognizing how dangerous it was to her and her pets' health, nor that she was destroying the house. She's got supervision now, so she doesn't put herself in that situation again. The thing is, adult protective services can't do anything if an adult says they like living that way. It was her lack of paying rent that pushed through the eviction where they ensured she got the mental help and support she needs.
@@kimbernard9250, I’m glad she’s getting the help she needs. It’s very difficult with adults who have mental health issues but don’t truly recognize that they have them. I know from personal experience and having dealt with a number of other people with mental health struggles throughout my life how difficult it can be. It’s a little bit better than it used to be but there’s still a lot of stigma regarding mental illnesses. I think COVID brought it more to light since more people became depressed from the isolation of the pandemic alone. People still don’t understand most of the other mental illnesses though and what it really does and how it affects a person.

You are my absolute favorite cleaner. I personally think the way you clean with not a lot of water is good for American construction. Our homes were not made for using a lot of water. You do amazing work on these places.

I felt very bad when I saw dead rats because of unhygienic conditions. That is really painful.
Keep some space between fridge and wall as no space leads to over heat in refrigerator.and can even blast, thats true !

Dear Barbie, in my opinion there is no need for a full story. No one lives like this if they are healthy. It is enough to say that the person had an accident or has depression for example. Those full stories are often too much for me. They fill me with sadness and even helplessness. I am here for the joy of seeing the place get cleaned. Thank you for sharing your work with us. I prefer to hear you explain how you choose cleaning products and how you approach specific stains.

I only share information. I know what you mean though. I was deliberately scape goated and black sheeped by my parents and lil bra. For me I want to protect with information and remedies. I felt protective of this channel. There a lot of us that are just fooling around here. I never want to judge or shame like was done to me. It is frustrating trying and that crap done me comes through.

Fabulous clean Barbie. Thick grease is so stubborn to clean most times so you coped amazingly well with just a scraper and oven cleaner. I've cleaned grease in the past and found the semi dissolved smeary sticky stage to be the worst. ick >.
I feel so sorry for this lady being sick and having to live in that grotty, filthy mess. You are so wonderful to go in there and clean it up! I think you are so compassionate and so thorough in how you do things. It's unbelievable to me that such an ill person would be sent home and not be given any home help. That would not happen in my country of New Zealand. There are hospital social workers who can check that a person will be okay and they can organise help if needed. You are a God-send to these people! It seems like her washing machine leaks, otherwise why would it be so wet underneath? The landlord needs to reburbish that place and get the pest controllers in too!

I see how much time you invest into people and them getting better and I am grateful to know that people like you exist! Make sure you take care of your body after jobs like this, i cleaned homes like this for 30 years & my back is torn up.
