I'm not sure if this applies to the C8, but when I went to the Corvette school (for the C7) they said don't drive in track mode on the street, especially on crumby roads as the suspension is so stiff you can damage your rims. Living in the North East, most roads are crumby.
@@DailyDownshift If you don't have the magnetic ride suspension, then the changing the mode doesn't change the suspension (and therefore shouldn't be an issue). At the class they said if you don't have this feature, then you have the equivalent of "sport" mode. I learned a lot in that class. I never thought I'd use anything below Sport, but on the bumpier roads I can really see the difference by changing to touring. There are override settings, so I can set the exhaust and steering to always be on the "sport" setting.
AFM: Originally posted by Tadge When you are in manual mode the engine stays in V8. That is true either by hitting the "M" button or by entering "temporary tap" by pulling one of the paddles. Temporary tap will revert to "Drive" after about 5 seconds if you don't request an additional shift in that time. AFM is also de-activated in "Track" mode. Since PTM is only available in Track mode, the answer is yes to that one too. If you are in PTM, it will be V8 only. New for 2020 is the "Z" mode which will come from the factory set up as an extra sporty mode including shift schedules pulled from the "Track" mode, so that will be V8 only. Of course, you can customize "Z" mode any way you want, so if you elect another shift pattern, AFM will return.
Also - Suggest you fold your mirrors when in a parking lot. I just had to replace the passenger side after some ahole dinged the mirror cracking the housing, breaking the mirror and jamming it in the closed position. A $1250 replacement cost at Chev dealer. I programmed it to close when I shutdown which is what I should have done from the git go.
@@DailyDownshift Glad those cops let u go. I've had good luck too. Was ripping down my favorite road in my new to me 16 ATSV and cop just hit his spot light on me to slow down. Gods good every day
Haha. I thought this was going be another Corvette video but they actually are talking about some things that no other Corvette video has spoken about.
Thanks so much you two! Found your video while assessing how important it is to observe break- in period. (I mean, how bad could it be?! Bad I know.) I'm Jonesin' and have only 200 miles on the clock. Appreciate what you guys are doing; take good care! ✌
5:06 . NO ,, u can customize your Z mode and select your transmission to the highest level and this will eliminate the V4 mode . Yes the track mode will do that but with Z Mode u can adjust everything else’s to your liking
Funny you should mention pizza in the hot trunk. The problem is that you can’t fit a normal large pizza box in there, or in the frunk for that matter. I can see needing to ask for multiple small size boxes for my pizza vs. fouling the floor of the passenger side. Also, my wife is always teasing me that this car can’t carry groceries. I’m not ready to admit that the rear trunk will kill perishables so let’s just keep the “hot trunk” issue amongst friends, okay? She’ll never know because she’s afraid to drive this rocket…
question, I got my new C8 z51 today, I am going to Las vegas tomorrow on what mode I need to drive it, and how fast?? and what RPM you recomemed? there are some hills on the way total of 30 miles do you think it can cause any damege to the new car with 40 miles? thank you.
does all LT3 comes standard with magnetic ride feature on c8 corvette??? does anyone know?? thnxs. and does anyone know if c8 have a timing belt or chain in the engine??
The Chevy dealers have made it difficult to own. I have been waiting for 3 years to get me C8 Z06 / Z07 package. I'm dealing with the best dealership Leach Wilson from Shelbyville IL. Aaron Miller has been the best and the rest are the salesmen there are just as awesome. From day one they stated they would sell the car at MSRP. Every other dealer I dealt with especially in the Chicago Metro area ( Golf MIll, Jack Phelan, and others) The dealers were trying to make themselves rich off of these cars??? Where is Chevrolet management trying to reign this in?? I will happily buy the car from Leach Wilson when Chevrolet FINALLY gives them their allocation. That seems to be the other issue, Chevrolet seems to be forgetting that the core is in the hard working blue collar center of the nation. The east coast, west coast and south coast dealers seem to be the only dealers to get allocations. Chevrolet take care of the people that made you who you are don't forget us central hard workers.
BAD ADVICE NEVER DRIVE IN TRACK MODE ALL THE TIME JUST FOR ALL 8 CYLS. VERY BAD FOR THE Suspension components Sport mode is what you drive your C 8 in for high performance off the track. thank you for reading
We're going out to film some race content tomorrow, in the mean time enjoy this list of 5 things you should NEVER do in your C8!

Strange, we find that the suspension is bouncy (mind you we're non z51)

Sounds like popping it in track mode and forgetting about it is the way to go!
@@DailyDownshift I lean towards Manual Trans Mode

Roof issues as nice as it looks as a cupe I still got the convertible
I think the top is composite under the paint, not carbon fiber.
That last “tip” is silly bros 😂I want that V4 any time it pops up lmao tryna save cash in this economy 💸
Pro tip you can eliminate two of these hassles by buying the HTC, that’s what I did
Sick ride. Good Info boys
Appreciate it!

Thank you, we try to be a bit different!
@ :45 -> How are you going to fit a pizza back there?? Are you going to transport it vertically??? 😂
LOL!
That's the future of pizza transport, haven't you heard? Haha
Fold the pie in half...New York style! Ha ha.

Thanks buddy
Pizza in back will become a calzones!
Nothing wrong with a Calzone! :-)
Who doesn't like a nice calzone? Haha
I use some blue painters to cover the openings. Easy and cheap.

1 thing you should NEVER do to your face: Grow a CHINSTRAP
Super good! But could you maybe do a video on the c8 Corvette doing a in depth review?
Check out Doug!!
M 19 ok thanks!!!
I thought I heard if you select manual on the transmission that it stays in V8 mode.
This is awesome if true!
@@DailyDownshift I don't have my C8 yet. Have you tried out the manual mode to see it stays in V8 mode all the time?

Question: Can you customize the Z mode to not deactivate the 4 cylinders?
Not exactly sure, but I do know putting it into paddle (manual) mode cancels the 4 cylinders.
Yes, as you should not drive it in track mode when on the highway. Track mode if for the track.
Ok gam gam 😂
Get an HTC and you won’t have to worry about the top or wasting your driving time cleaning the engine bay and the 2 rear windows.
Please question;
1- you mean drag mode or track mode.
2- Do i have to stay on this mode or I have to be in manual mode
Need your answer
I'll remember that when I get my C 8 Z51, maybe it won't be long before G. M. go back to work

Mag ride is an extra add on for all trims (I have a 3LT Z51 with mag ride)
If the rear trunk gets so hot, should you keep some gloves at the ready in case you need to put the roof back on in a hurry?
It definitely gets very warm, but it hasn't been that bad yet.

If you drive with paddle shifters do you need to stay in track mode or nah to stay with all 8 cylinders running.
No, if you keep it in Manual mode then it wont go into V4 mode.
