Finally a walk through of our sailing boat Tangaroa! :)
She has been the best adventure sailing cat for us for the past 5 years and we have had an absolute ball!
Tangaroa is a 37 ft James Wharram Catamaran built in Adelaide South Australia Launched in 2012.
James & Hannah have been living onboard for 5 years sailing the South Australian coast across the Great Australian Bight, up and down the West Australian coastline and more recently through the wild and remote Kimberley's. Tangaroa is currently up on the hard in Darwin Northern Territory, the gate way to the Kimberleys, Indonesia or the east coast of Australia. This is your chance to go live the DREAM!
This is not the end of our sailing dream, we just have different priorities for the next few years.
We would like to say thankyou to all the legends that have followed our adventures and for the new friends we have made.
And thankyou to all our Patrons that have supported us over the years we really appreciate everything!!!!
We will be back out on the water sooner than later with a couple of stow aways ;) So see you soon!

James Wharram cats sailed the world before cats were cool. I sailed on one from San Diego to Panama in 1969-70. Learned a lot in that year; celestial nav, Spanish and how to catch fish. Perfect preparation for the next ten years of commercial tuna fishing around the world. Thank you, Mr Wharram and thank you Hanna and Skipper of Tangaroa for taking us along on your great adventure. Somebody will get themselves a magic carpet ride.
That’s what we call her our magic carpet ride!
Thankyou!!!
Skipper James has been a commercial tuna diver for many years in port Lincoln South Australia. Cheers
Sailing Tangaroa oh wow, I had no idea. James and I have much more in common than just an eye for you, Hannah. All the best to you both.
That’s a really nice Wharram! Love the interior finish. Practical and nice looking. Right down to the bilge. Nice pod too. Thanks for the tour.
i am on the other side of the world and if i had any sense i would cash in and come for your boat so my real life could begin!
During our freezing cold winters here in michigan, we would play you on our big screen.
you two showed my wife and I a warm wonderous part of the planet that i had only dreamed of.
I dont really care for goodbyes , this video was a bit tough to watch, but i wish you both all the best in life.
farewell.
Awe thanks for watching! We will be back!
Thanks for taking us along for the ride :) All the very best for whats to come
Takes me right back to being 18, 50 years ago when I got the boat bug. Went to see JW and his ladies in S. Wales and left with a set of Tangaroa plans. Never did build it, went off on tall ships to learn the business, eventually built a steel Tahitiana but the Tangaroa was my first love.....
Best of luck. Will miss your videos. This channel was not your average sailing channel. Very cool boat and adventures.
Thanks so much!
These are great boats!!
I owned the same boat before I purchased my old gaffer!!!

Simple (not much to her) but elegant. I love that she’s one of a kind. Great color. Awesome name.

Beautiful boat, looks very well kept🙏🏻

Always loved your videos, what's next? Hopefully a new boat......?
Yes to hoping! Have to work a bit first!
Good luck guys.. just finished our raka from jwd. These things sail fast and nice ;)
Beautiful cat. 36 foot is she... I built a Tiki 30 with raised cabin tops. That sailed like a weapon. Tanga would too... I really like the laminated beams. Bloody solid... Must have a look on Gumtree...
Design is 36 but she was built a foot longer :)
Spewing gunner miss Tanga vids 😞take it easy 🤙
I miss your channel mate, hope all is well with you two.
Agreed. They were so much fun to watch...miss them.
It’s shame you guys are selling we enjoyed your channel. All the best with your new adventure in life. Garry and Milena from SV Ciao Bella
Thanks guys, we will be back out on the water one day!
Amazing vids Thanks🌵🦑
Nice build. Nicer than the one I built.
I worked demolishing some timber floors at woolstores in Port Adelaide, so maybe in a way helped build your boat ! PS I have sailed on a wharam , great boats.
Mike Dugdale That was seriously good timber. I caught a glimpse during the process
@@gazzahuck9766 one of the fellas working there (kiwi carpenter) reckons the floor boards were NZ Kauri, best boat building timber in the world. A million linear metres of board came out of upper floor they reckon. (12 ×2 inch before we nailing ?) Soaked in lanolin from decades of having wool bales packed on it. Smelt amazing as we cut through the tongues. Summer of 1984-1985.
Sad to see you guys go xx
I drove past Fannie Bay last month and saw tangaroa there for sale by accident. Was wondering what’s going on and today I saw this episode 😅
L ? B ? P ? Latrine? at what price do you sell?
cool looking cat boat
Wish like anything, that I could afford. Hope you’re doing well in your post-Wharram life
Looks pretty Sweet!!!!
This is my dream boat. Im off to buy a lotto ticket.
Thanks!!
Good luck and all the best
clean boat. how much did it go for?
$875,000
@@yourenotwrong3511 For a Wharram!? Sucker born every minute I guess. Could've bought a brand new Mumby 48 foot cat and had half a million dollars left over...to live on
Wow , thanks for that . Am looking at finishing off a 26' Wharram , one hull complete , all the wood and some glass and plans , all for $705 . Am pricing rigging etc . Guess the electronics are not cheap though . Plenty food for thought :-)
@@yourenotwrong3511 not a chance
@@yourenotwrong3511 You mean $87.500?
$59k not a bad deal for decent size cat.
Australian i assume.
What is Your asking price?
Kickass boat, wish I could come down and snap her up! This is a strange question. but what kind of shorts are those brother? They look so comfortable!
Well done guys. I wish I'd not chased the rat race.
Sorry to see you sell your boat but, good luck with whatever you do next.
Thankyou hopefully someone wants to go on a mad adventure !
I've wanted A wharram for a while now. This would be perfect
She’s a lovely boat
@@SailingTangaroa yes she is!
I emailed you from your website .
@@SailingTangaroa I want to talk to you about the boat. I would like to have that boat very much. I never considered it would pop up for sale.
All that love you put into her. What's next for you? Swap you places: you can have my 6 acres in Fairbanks Alaska
I wish I had the money buying that beauty is a nobrainer
Do u know who the design on the bow is done by and what nation.
So the cross-beams are bolted through and into the hulls ? Not lashed like the tiki’s. Is there any movement between the hull and the cross beam under sail ? Are the cross beams bedded on a rubber mat? Would like to know the details on that. Number and Diameter of bolts and what they are bolted too in the hull. Sorry I’ve never been on board this type of wharram to see myself. . Obviously the bolts work and are strong I’m just interested as this does seem to be a potential weak point as far flex fatigue wear and rot. Under those beams and what they are resting on would be hard to inspect... thanks
Good question. U know i was thinking the same kinda of thing and wondering the best boat building material so not to sand and paint and maybe fiberglass sanding/bonding every so years. i want a u boat. hahaha, continental steam liner make it electric/steam engine some how would or may do the job i want dreams be cool
If it's anything like Jim Wharram's "Tehini", the bolts will be backed by big chunks of rubber which allow for some flex. Flex is central to the Wharram design philosophy.
Bedded on multiple squares of truck tyres if memory serves from my plans 50 years ago so yes flexible but certainly no weak point.
Does this mean that you guys will be stopping your channel or are you still going to put stuff up? Will be sad if you stop all together. Cheers from Joburg South Africa.
Will see what happens. Have to work for a few years like normal people haha!
@@SailingTangaroa I wish you both well. And thanks for taking us along with you. Cheers
Any life updates
SOLD... bitter sweet for u I am sure
Start the bidding! Do I have too?
Is it sold ?
Hows the bub?
Showwwwwwww espetáculo......
Did y'all drown on dry land?
$59,000 as is. That's what I was looking for.
Haha so go live your dream
@@SailingTangaroa No, no, I was just looking for the price is all and thought if I put it in Comments it might save others from hunting for it. It might help you, you don't know. And yes I've been dreaming of Sailing for years and watching everyone one trying to learn things. If I were a Sailor I'd have 2 Dingy's and a Fishing net to fill the table with. I'm only saying that because I saw someone else doing it before the Hurricane.
you guys are amazing if i had the money i would send it right now .........
Thankyou :)
can you not do like the others, get a manufacturer to give you a boat , or do a deal , we know the others who are ., and your channel is better , but so is your boat !!
Haha mate I don’t think we will ever be given a boat,. Good on those who do I don’t think anyone would say no to a new vessel!
Thanks for watching!
Sail a smart cat, they would Def make a good deal with you.
Sad to see it end, new adventures?
Yes new sea adventures one day hopefully ;)
I drive past Tangaroa a few times a week and that spacecraft that's parked next to her!
Yeah, was wondering what the heck that thing was!!
@@clinclin1240 Try Googling "Catamaran Sundreamer"
She’s a nice boat. Can she be single handed sail from helm?
Yes
How much
I so wish I had the means to buy your beautiful cat.
Look why is it hard to talk with you i love your work im 62 now and doesn't matter anyway I love Tangaroa, I see her yesterday Darwin on the hard, can you sell it to me cheap so someone else can enjoy this boat that was some much for you both, and maybe moving on .
Captain Rocket
Website seems to be freezing up a lot ..... 🙄
Nice looking boat.
Interesting
Thanks!
Whats "Oregon" besides a State where I live ?
Another dumb question, where's the loo? Nick Cunningham rocks......
Nice boat!
Aussie call Douglas Fir, Oregon or Oregon Pine, I guess it was coming in from your part of the world at some stage and the name stuck
