The WWE's New Wave?

- For the past year, a new nucleus of talent has been forming in the WWE. From the likes of LA Knight to Gunther & Jey Uso. Right now WWE has a ton of babyface talent and is slowly creating the pillars of the future & giving out opportunities that haven’t really been seen in the past few years.

Ever since HHH took over, there has definitely been more effort into creating new stars and I’m all up for it. LA Knight, Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes, Gunther, Dominik Mysterio, Rhea Ripley, etc. I’m very excited to see where everyone goes, and I can’t wait for even more new stars such as Jade Cargill and even some NXT call-ups like Carmelo Hayes, Bron Breakker, and them. HHH may have his flaws, but this new direction is definitely a welcome one.👍

eh I’d say it’s more 50/50 for daddy H but he’s definitely better than Vince 😂🤷🏾♂️
I agree on everyone except LA knight. The guys a clown. Nothing against him personally I just don’t think he’s got that “X” factor. He’s predictable, formulaic, flawed. His whole shtick just doesn’t work for me. I found him more interesting as a heel when he worked with bray. Now he’s a babyface I’m sick of him. If I want someone to rip-off the rock, austin and flair I’ll settle for watching their work instead. I don’t need someone to emulate their style and play up to the nostalgia act. 🤦🏿♂️
@@master-of-mind5881your opinion, but he’s making waves and it’s undeniable.
I can’t wait till Trick Williams finally makes it to the main WWE roster. . .
Imagine an entire arena chanting “WHOOP THAT TRICK!” during a PPV event!
I like it😂😂
@@chocolatedaddy2094 “OH YEEEAH MAAAAN!” 😂

Then I need Booker T as a special guest commentator for that.
I don’t know why but every time I see trick Williams I can’t help but think of Shannon Briggs. He reminds me of him even though they are two completely different people. 🤷♀️ maybe it’s the hair. 😂😂
ever since Cody returned, i believe that it should be called ‘The Renaissance Era’ due to the rejuvenation of wrestling and how popular it has become once again, it’s so exciting to see
so here’s how the WWE timeline would look:
1953-1981: The “Stone Age” (before VKM takeover)
1982-1992: Golden Era
1993-1996: New Generation Era
1997-2002: Attitude Era
2003-2008: Ruthless Aggression Era
2009-2015: PG Era
2016-2021: Rebuilding Era
2022-Present: Renaissance Era
That's actually really a good ass name
That’s really good, I like that
Hell of a Great Name for the new Era for generational Superstars.
I think switch it to a little later when HHH got promoted to head of creative. Not that Cody isn't a massive catalyst to this new era but I do think without HHH it would be different yfm?
@@GiantFlamingClasher it been stated in the past the Renaissance Era officially started the day Vince stepped down and Hunter became head of creative
Regardless of what company you prefer, Can we all agree that it's an incredible thing to have 2 viable, profitable wrestling promotions to go to? People cross over & immediately feel fresher than they had previously. We're all winning right now
Absolutely correct
The Question still remains what are we going to call the current Era in WWE.
What a time to be a wrestling fan. We have entered a new age of showmanship, entertainment, creative and economical expansion within the industry and it can only get better from here. Skys the limit. I’m really engrossed and excited to see what unfolds as we move forward.

@@master-of-mind5881 Facts
Thank vince for that he wouldn't have the physical capability if it weren't for Vince making him lose weight
I also love how LA Knight and Cody Rhodes are also throwbacks of faces in different eras. Cody's got the modern American hero babyface wrestler like Hogan or Cena then there is LA Knight who is more of a throwback to the Attitude Era with Stone Cold and The Rock. Honestly, as someone who grew up watching Cena and rewatched the Attitude Era, I love how we as fans get different top guys to cheer on.
I love how everyone in the business today is openly a mark for the business; you can tell these guys are all fans just like we are.
It's so cool watching Cody get to be that babyface knowing he's a fan of that era, or Knight raising Hell like Stone Cold; because you can tell these guys are students of the game and they're there to pay homage and make their own way.
@@johnnysupreme5718 Hell yeah, they have their own unique ways of getting their characters over and I am all for it.
To an extent Solo is as well he really is just like a modern day Umaga, that samoan monster that the powers that be can call upon sometimes or he just runs in and kicks your ass of his own choice
@@YoungsickbacchusSolo to me is part Umaga, part Samoa Joe, and part Taz.
@@arnoldvelasquez6473 in his NXT days I could see that but in the bloodline he kinda loses that Samoa Joe aspect to him. He stops being the street champ and becomes the enforcer
Another guy I think should be mentioned is Damien Priest. The guy is the complete package, and since WM 39 hes been positioned amazingly as a future main eventer.
i agree! i remember being worried about him because ive seen wwe pass over too many immensely talented people and i could see a future star in him. but they've really put their all into him lately and im very happy about it
But Damien & LA are in their 40's they don't have the longevity. Knight could have a run like the Rock but Damien can't. So I'd not select Damien. He's just not the ideal investment considering the future.
and Priest is relevant because of the JD when Knight can figure out himself how to be relevant.. I pretty much sure if Priest not working it he will be lost in sight once JD is disbanded

I think once Roxanne Perez, Tiffany Stratton, Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breaker are called up the roster will become even better
Wes Lee would also be a treat to see but he’d definitely be mishandled
@@Youngsickbacchus He'll do well in the Midcard.
Roxanne promo still ass. Just pure garbage.
It makes perfect sense why she is still stuck in NXT to this very day. It's a complete waste of time to call her up to the main roster

You wonder why Roxanne is still in NXT to this very day?
This new wave of talent feels so different compared to the Randy Orton’s and the John Cena’s we were used to seeing on tv every week. Initially I was devasted with Gunther's name and physique change, but i was so wrong. Best thing for him. Gunther has ruled!
You're right about Theory but I really think this partnership with Waller is what he needs right now for that change. I love Theory but I stopped caring about him some time during his US title reign, but since his partnership with Waller, I've started caring again. I know everyone says he should turn face, and I do agree, but I think it has to be a long game and this is a perfect place to start. Another thing too, i feel like after Wrestlemania 40. WWE should focus more on the future and leave the past on the past. We've seen enough DX Reunion's, Undertaker appearance's, or anything from 15 plus years ago. Now this doesn't mean i don't love any of the people i just mentioned, it's just time to focus on the future.
absolutely, i think they should at least book some of them for one last time just to bury them eg. LA Knight beating cena in Wrestlemania or Gunther beating Brock Lesnar to start an new era and focus on the future
This is the Renaissance of Professional wrestling.
Be it WWE, AEW, TNA IMPACT, NJPW, NOAH, AJPW etc. The wrestling world is on a hot streak and mainstream attraction is coming back to it.
I hope the time will come when wrestling fans will be alive and well like they were in attitude/RA Era.
YEAH!
Yeah it's such a fun time to be a wrestling fan, like you said there's so much great wrestling. WWE, AEW, TNA, ROH, NJPW, etc...
2024 is gonna be an amazing year.
Wouldn't put any Japanese company on that list apart from Stardom. The pandemic did heavy numbers on Japan and consequently the Japanese wrestling promotions.
If NJPW is suffering a lot, then AJPW, NOAH, Dragon Gate, DDT etc have it worse (not to mention NOAH's awful booking)
1. I dont think Theory is a true Heel, I think he’d be way better as a face at some point
2. Grayson Waller is struggling because he’s just 2007-2009
Miz
3. Dominik has benefited from being linked with more wrestlers who aren’t named Rey mysterio
I can imagine Theory as a face and everyone yells out a town down during his theme
Its honestly awesome as WWE have struggled for years to get a handful of ppl over at once without it feeling forced and unorganic especially with overeliance of the same ppl over and over hopefully after WM 40 with a hard brand split similar to the one in 2016 and 2000's they can continue to build others up.
Gunther should absolutely be a World Heavyweight Champion. Bro has the best match catalogue I've ever seen from a wrestler in WWE since Shawn Micheals in the 2000s and mark my words, he will surpass Micheals at it very soon.
He’s one of the best wrestlers I’ve ever seen. Also impressive how he can have a good match with anyone from Braun Strowman, Bronson Reed, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre to Gable, Rey, Ricochet and Mustafa Ali.
@@Brian-wo3fb GOATher
I've said this about Gunther and gonna throw another name on here: Ilja Dragunov. I have never seen them in a bad match. Like you might be able to find some somewhere, but lately? These two are absolute JUGGERNAUTS in the ring.
@@kedryckjames2021 They are easily WWE's best in-ring performers today.
@@kedryckjames2021 That match Walter and Dragunov had is still insane to this day.
I think the new Asuka phase is also pretty lit as well
for a woman in her 40's she's very entertaining
This is her finally being allowed to be who she always was, Kana.
I definitely think Julius Creed might be a sleeper hit someday. He's got the all American square jaw good looks that WWE creams their pants over, he's big, buff but got a nice physique (leaner than Brutus), amateur wrestling background and is a machine on the ring. If he can get a nice character and some charsima that'll get the crowd even more behind him, he'd be the ultimate McMahon/Hunter wet dream.
Agreed he is just bland
What you just described was a Vinceism, Hunter is not part of that.
I know I'm not saying anything new but this new era WWE has been in is the most interesting and entertaining the company has been in years. Nice to see the company actually building New and young stars instead of relying on old part timers that are 50 and up.
It's insane to see how many people are at the forefront of the next generation of the company. Wild to even think that some of the wrestlers we grew up watching in the mid 2010s are the so called veterans now. It sorta feels like the NFL of today where you have so many great QBs that are still very early into their careers (Mahomes, Herbert, Tua, Hurts, Allen, Lawrence, Stroud, Purdy, etc). Point being, there are so many household names to root/boo for, and those are signs of great booking.
One quick thing I wanna point out with Liv is that her reign was objectively bad, but only when you consider how they had to protect Ronda Rousey (not even mentioning her overall regression), as well as the horrendous women's roster she had to work with during her time on Smackdown. If there's anyone that deserves a do-over with a title reign, it's 100% her.
Someone else that seemingly would rise as a single competitor like Jey is without a doubt Marcel Barthel/Ludwig Kaiser. He has been getting some small, solo storyline with some solo vignette here and there - He's a solid talker, has a good looks face and muscle-wise, and can be relied to carry a match. He probably won't be the top guy, but I can see him get some reign in the USA/Intercontinental title level in the future.
I was just about to type this. My dark horse is Kaiser (and they’re even giving him vignettes) and I think Barthel can go.
Also something thay you haven't mentioned in this id how stacked the tag division is rn. The Judgement Day,Sami and KO pre-breakup,Theory and Waller,Street Profits,Brawling Brutes,Alpha Academy and Pretty Deadly and that's not even mentioning veteran teams like The New Day and Viking Raiders
I really hope Dragon Lee and Dom Dom will have a rivalry to parallel Rey Mysterio and Eddie.
1) Jimmy Uso is great, I believe he’s gonna take Solo from Roman before Mania (while still being a heel), then become Tribal Chief after turning back babyface.
2) Pretty Deadly is also the future of the Tag division with The Creeds.
3) You didn’t mention OTM, Blair, Jacy, Roxanne, Chase U, Trick Williams, Tony D & Gigi Dolin.
4) Like you said, it’s bad booking for Theory. He’s got everything it takes to be legitimately established right now (the boos, the mic skills, the ring skills, the charisma, the catchphrases, etc;) but not putting him on ples and having good rivalries after WM just really affected that.
The reason wrestling is in the gutters now compared to the past is because of their lack of building new stars and relying on Cena and legends the last 20 years. HHH may save the wrestling business by actually having the product be pro wrestling
Dom has such a good character.. he's that pathetic wimp who thinks he's so cool because he hangs out with the real cool kids but on his own he is just pathetic.. hence why its not that difficult to hate Dom.. which is good for him.!!
Hot take: Gunther is this era’s Bruno samaritano but as a heel, the long title reigns ( the NXT uk championship and currently the longest IC title reign) have some of the best matches.
Another hot take: he’s the best wrestle right now and should get wrestle of the year.
Everythings amazing right now in WWE and this roster right now is on point. Thanks to Triple H mostly for the direction majority of these stars are in right now. This is why it's really difficult to have the likes of CM Punk return and even Randy Orton. Those guys can be a dream match for some of our current stars, but after that, what else? As much as we would like to see them return, things are fantastic as they are right now.
NOT EVERYTHINGS AMAZING IN WWE some things are good its definitely improved but still needs work
For me is like a ruthless agression era:
Roman Reigns is a Reugn of Teror Triple H
Cody Rhodes Is John Cena
Austin Theory is Randy Orton
Bron Breakker is second coming of Brock Lesnar
Daimian Priest is Batista type figure
Seth Rollins is Shawn Michaels
Drew Mcintyre is Test
Imperium is La Resistance
Grayson Waller is Chris Jericho
LA Knight is Mr. Kenedy
Carlito is Carlito
Rey Mysterio is Rey Mysterio
Bobby Lashley is Bobby Lashley
Jey Uso is Jeff Hardy
Jimmy Uso is Matt Hardy
Pretty Deadly are Edge & Christian
Street Profits are Duddley Boyz
Trick Williams is Booker T
Carmelo Hayes is Mvp
Braun Strowman is Big Show
Odisey Jones is Mark Henrey
Chad Gabble is Kurt Angle
Dominick Mysterio is Eddie Guerrero
Note that there's no replacement for the Undertaker. A timeless act, for real. 😢

@@arnoldvelasquez6473 That's true.
He killed his career by his own two hands
Selling WWE was actually good cuz Endeavour gave Triple H creative power
Ziggler could've been a bigger star if the company didn't constantly put his fire out when he constantly had arenas shouting his name
I've been noticing to that we reach something fresh and it's cool to see these new stars make there way to become future champion and future hall of farmers. LA knight, cody rhodes, jey uso and others that are baby-face are slowly to main-event paper-view especially the top heels as well. Both man and women are making changes in raw, smackdown and definitely in nxt. If nxt had a chance to prove to the main roster to be part of the main roster I'll make a paper-view for them and let them have a chance to pick which star that want to face. Like john cena vs Carmelo Hayes.
Also sami Zayn he is the reason why I restarted watching WWE
Don't know a genuine babyface like him
We all have Triple H to thank for finally getting a chance at a decent show after stop and start dementia style booking by Vince. I stopped watching in 2015 because I couldn't stand seeing talented wrestlers never getting a chance ( Damian Sandow, Kofi, Cesaro, Zack Ryder, Brey Wyatt, Rusev,) and only came back in 2019 to see nothing really changed. But this is the first time since at least 2003 that I'm actually excited about feuds championship reigns and future stars while Vince recently had the nerve to say that he thinks wrestling today has "plateaued" 🙄
Transforming Dom from the loveable boy next door into a sociopathic brat was chef's kiss.
WWE's office make a lot of wrong decisions, but when they make the right one, a superstar is born.
Its the most I've been into WWE in years. They've done a great job. Especially the first half of the year. They cooled off for a couple of months since Summerslam, but im well up for L.A. Knight vs Roman!
There's two main differences in this new era. First off, they're not relying on one or even two big stars and putting all their eggs in that basket. You especially saw it in the leadup to War Games where the face teams had multiple stars that were all getting big reactions. So even if you have a top face/heel, they're not treated like they're the only people on the roster.
And the new era not only allows other people to get over (which has been a huge problem in years past) but embraces it. LA Knight was being booked as a heel as of six months ago - but when he started getting pops equal to or bigger than a lot of babyfaces, instead of trying to push back against the crowd they steered into the skid and put the rocket on him as a face. In years past, other wrestlers that weren't handpicked to be at the top getting over were seen as a threat as opposed to as a welcome addition.
And now they've added [SPOILER] and [SPOILER] back into the present mix, which is almost hilariously OP.
great video. i thought i was the only one that thought wwe in the 2010s couldnt develop any memorable stars. they tried with sheamus, barret, del rio, john morison, jack swagger, and so many more that are absolutely forgettable. its crazy how the ruthless aggression produced talent like cena orton lesnar and batista just in 02 alone.
this new era since wm 38 is the first time in over 10 years it feels like they have characters and storylines. even the wrestling aspect has been solid aswell.
i think the problem with the 2010s was the shitty booking, pg rating, alot wrestling oriented matches. 2016-2019 are by far the shittiest years in wrestling, with guys like dean ambrose, braun, ko and shinsuke dont even hold a candle to guys of today like la knight, gunther and damian priest.
the midcarders of the ruthless aggression are far more remembered than the guys of the 2010s i mentioned. the pop for carlito alone last week was huge and dean ambrose or shinsuke wish they can have that reaction
I was low-key thinking about this a little and how Bron Breakker & Carmelo Hayes will be this generations John Cena & Randy Orton which is a good thing because if there's one thing NXT 2.0.has done better than the Black & Gold Era, its pushing homegrown talent and not just popular indie darlings.
For me, Jey has slowly grown on me. I see so much going for him.
Yeah me too. He has a good aura about him. Excited to see him progress him even further!
For a long time, I criticized WWE for being unable to create new stars. For a while, it's just when somebody promising came along, they'd let them fizzle out with bad writing. Now I can see they are making an effort to make likeable personalities and characters again with some weight to their name. I applaud them for this change.
Raquel definitely needs a character change for sure. I always thought maybe she could portray someone like Leti from the Fast and Furious movies. A badass Latina with a strong and soft side who never backs down from a fight. Idk maybe I’m just waffling lol
During the pre pipebomb era, we would have never guessed that ten years later we would have such a strong wrestling scene overall.
You nailed it w this vid my man 💯 Triple H said at the press conference he wondered what we would call this ERA rn. I'm calling it the Golden Era bcuz everything about this has been refreshing/surprising n just flat out gold/golden 🥇
Go to hell. The Golden Era name is already taken by Hogan and his generation. Think of something else. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Not trying to be mean, just saying... 😅
Anyone after can suggest a new one because he IS on to something... This does feel like a golden Era, we just can't call it that for obvious reasons... 😅
Dom is good??? Wtf are you talking about
It's just the crowd taking his booing as an opportunity to put themselves over, like they do with singing some songs like Seth's. Even though Triple H did remark on it on Smackdown recently about it not being "piped in". I think that was just him tongue-in-cheek admitting they did do that at some point though probably don't do as much now. Also it's sly of production to intentionally turn down his mic when he speaks to accentuate the booing whether piped in or not.
The heel turn was necessary so he can break away from his father's legacy to create his own character, but we all know that like Roman being shoved down our throats after the Shield split to be the superhero babyface that never panned out. We get the same with Dom as the slimy weaselly cowardly heel that is partially inflated to be the most unlikeable character on the roster.

Awesome video man. Love the positivity, I go on wrestling subreddits and you’d think the world was ending how they react to everything
Speaking of the IC Championship I stumbled across the Wikipedia article on the reception of the Intercontinental Championship one part of it stood out to me was Chris Jericho said that WWE promoter Vince McMahon told him that "nobody fucking cares about the Intercontinental Championship" after he asked to be placed in a match for the title at WrestleMania 29 in 2013 that right there showcases how Vince never gave a fuck about the Championship and the Individuals that has gotten more iconic Title Defense Matches than the top level price of the company aka the WWE Championship luckily that has changed with Triple H at the helm now!
At Crown Jewel, when he beat Rey Mysterio for United States Champion, people who didn't watch it were thinking "what the fuck are they thinking", but people who did were like "No, no. This was awesome. He just blatantly cheated with brass knuckles, and afterwards, he just completely gaslit Mysterio and told him that he loved him, and beat him fair and square."
Dom has nuclear heat but he still needs a lot of work in his in-ring wrestling, his 619 is ass, honestly he's better off dropping it for something else. He's got a lot of potential though so can't wait to see him grow into it. Rhea Ripley is fire 🔥, Solo needs more mic work ai see him as someone who can soar way oast his brothers, LA Knight is THE GUY hopefully WWE won't fumble the ball with him. I definitely see the promise in Theory, what he needs is a face turn since most of his booking hasn’t been great cause he’s a heel
Since 2022 WWE is so good

A star that I would say is really emerging is Roxanne Perez.
Her rivalry with Blair really transformed her.
With Theory it's aimless booking. Like they don't know what to do with him
I don't think Vince knew what he was gonna do with him either; he probably thought putting him in the main event would somehow get him over. Theory seems like such a bizarre project for Vince.
Let’s not forget Trick Williams! He has young Booker T energy and look if he can put the wrestling together he can be huge on the main roster. L
Yeah la Knight is the best on the Mic the mc of gab and future wwe world or undisputed champion.
I was thinking of Theory as a future Cena but now I do see young Randy.
Its awesome to see the new wave but at the same time i feel bad for those black and gold NXT guys and girls who were super over with fans and top stars on black and gold but never got that shot on the Main roster under Vince. Why do so many of you RUclipsrs talk like your nose is stuffed and with the same cadence? Is it the mic or what 🤔
Sin Cara was so weird, he should of been a star in the WWE, he was literally the biggest star in Mexico for years, but when he got to WWE he just couldn't do it.
The storytelling isn’t as awful as it was in the 2010’s, but it’s still meh. In the late 90s and early 2000’s, it felt like each angle (regardless of who was involved) had real thought, focus and energy behind it. There was numerous good angles, not just one. Now, if it isn’t the Bloodline or (more recently) Judgment Day, everything else is still being phoned in.
I think the Bloodline dying off will give the writers more time to focus on... Stuff that isn't the Bloodline. A lot of characters are being stalled while waiting for Roman to drop the belt and the faction to go away.
Can’t wait for the solo and Dom feud that is going to be one for the ages.
My problem with Theory is I just don’t believe him. Sounds like he’s putting on an act when he talks. Best acts are people being themselves turned up to 11, and yet he feels like he’s trying to be someone he’s not. Enjoyed him much more as the lovable idiot in The Way.
Same I agree that his bookin hasnt been good but his delivery on the mic isnt good at all. Which is why he should be a babyface bc he’s actually a good guy irl
As Jim Cornette said. Just because you have your stars now doesn't mean you have your stars for the next five years.
It's a new golden generation.
I say nobody should dethrone Gunter for the I.C title, I say Gunter goes into Wrestlemania vs Seth in a title vs title match to main event night one
The thing with austin theory is when he wins a big match they dont capitalize on that win they just mention it once and put him back in a midcard feud. If they would slowly have him beat bigger and bigger opponets overtime he can be a top guy. Also, let him have some personality. This man is so entertaining on Instagram but they wont let him be himself which is what hes good at.
Theory is good, Waller is good. Everyone in the roster can make WWE great again.
Let’s not forget how integral Bray Wyatt was in getting LAR over
i have never alluded to this before, but seeing the thumbnail made me realise how much dom looks like eddie😂
There really is a big new wave coming in. Especially all the men and women talent in NXT that will eventually get the call up. They are so good and put on AMAZING matches.
Also on Dirty Dom, I can see him remaining as a heel his entire career. But I can see it get to the point where there will be a lot of boo's and cheers at the same time. He's improving a lot in NXT and it's very clear to see in his matches there.
Some guys to look forward to in the future as well:
Bronn Breaker
Brian Pillman Jr.
Ilja Dragunov
Carmelo Hayes
and if the rumors are true:
Will Ospreay and possibly some of the United Empire
What about trick williams
Montez Ford should be where Theory is. He's better in every way and would carry the midcard division.
Wonder what era is this called even, so much eras nowadays
My opinion on what they should do with Theory would be to have him swapped for a nxt superstar. And like he could be very angry about it. He could be like “look at all I’ve done. The huge names I’ve put down. I am a former us champion. I held the money in the bank briefcase. I should’t be here.” And like he has to work his way up the nxt card. Then after a while, maybe even a few title runs in nxt he could come back to raw or smackdown and put down the guy he was swapped for and finally look like a top talent that he used to be portrayed as.
I think that putting theory in nxt would drastically harm his career.
He was in nxt, main roster, nxt, main roster
Doing that a 3rd time just looks bad on him
Gunther is my favourite wrestler rn bar none. Just look at that match with Bronson Reed this week. Unreal stuff
Seeing this after solo just demolished cena, is such a trippy thought. I know this isnt popular but I still think if not cody solo should end romans reign. I think he could handle it
The new wave is promising!
that Cargill Girl tho she is fine
chad gable becoming kurt angle of reneissance era
