Riddle was his own worst enemy. Guy could have been a solid player in WWE for years, but he kept messing up. Had he not gotten in trouble right before the TKO deal ended, he'd probably still be in the company.

I was very big fan of Matt Riddle in WWE from his MMA background fighting style to his stoner layed back character. Really enjoyed his partnership with Randy Orton as RKBRO and that rivalry with Seth Rollins taking about how his “wife took the kids and don’t want to see your bitch ass anymore”. But he unfortunately couldn’t keep himself out of trouble. He’s a big WHAT IF?

The sad thing is that Riddle rejuvenized Orton's career (imo Orton's best tag team partner by far) and the partnership put Matt Riddle on the Upper Midcard/Semi-Main Event level. Such a shame man, he really was this generation's RVD.

“Pay Your Dues”. I think that’s the best way to put it. Riddle already had some name recognition coming into WWE and wrestling in general, so instead of hunkering down, he tried to take an easier way of just calling people out.

Weed was never illegal for UFC fighters.(at least since 2012). However For the various athletic commissions who oversee the fight and impose rules, it was illegal during pre fight weight ins and during the fight .there is still a THC limit . So all Riddle had to was not smoke weed for a week .

So Riddle is a modern-day RVD with arguably more in-ring talent and acts like much more of an asshole.
Only thing he has in common with RVD is smoking weed. RVD in his prime was way better in ring, also he had huge impact on mainstream wrestling including high flyers as oppose to big muscly guys. Also he's well respected worker around the world, never had any major beef with anyone, outside of being arrested for mj doesn't have any major controversies following him.
Outside of ring he's just chill guy for real, not wanna be chill guy with issues like Riddle.

Damn Riddle could've been great.
You said it perfectly at the end: incredible performer, but his UFC mind antics and provoking people the wrong way, or constantly doing dumb stuff just was too much weight to keep up with. WWE gave him so many chances and he blew it. Might still be a chance in the future if he cleans up his act but unless he wants to keep fighting people for no reason and smoking too much, he’ll be better off retired.

I never really liked Matt Riddle, but respected his athletic ability. He was full of himself and his excessive use of marijuana really lost my love for him.
I hate Matt riddle but as for his drug tests weed is just weed it's ridiculous to punish people for marijuana in this day where most states have legalized it. Now cocaine is another thing altogether I don't believe one second it was once or twice it's only shown in a test up to week after so it's too coincidental for me to believe.
