- Due note that there is one GLARING reason I still think creative professionals will want to pick up the MacBook Pro M1 over the HP ProBook 630 G8, join me to find out. ►⏩►⏩ Check specs and pricing in the links below…

Windows has finally brought us a worthy competitor to the MacBook Pro M1 (Insert raging comments below). While there are no perfect laptops, there are also no perfect opinions, so this is indeed my opinion which I will back up with specs, benchmark tests, and build quality assessments.
Alright so we have two all-aluminum laptops built for the mid budget category. We are going to find out which one will better serve your use cases. First and foremost, chassis design overall goes to the MacBook Pro. It has become the defecto gold standard (so to speak) as all that is good and beautiful.
The ProBook is the same thickness as the MacBook Pro M1 at 0.61 inches thick but weighs roughly a half pound less at 2.51 Lbs compared to the MacBook Pro’s 3.0 Lbs
Another part of the ProBook design I really like is the ledge they created for your fingers to grip the screen to open and close it. The top and bottom bezel of the ProBook are slightly angled in creating a perfect ledge for you fingers to grip the screen and pull it open easily. This could go easily overlooked and I love when company’s design in this way. Well done HP.
The screen can also open to 180 degrees whereas the MacBook Pro cannot.
The HP ProBook Keyboard is my preferred keyboard between these two. It is very snappy, responsive and quiet. The keys are very stable and the soft-touch materials are more soft-touchy than the MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro’s keyboard is good, but the ProBook definitely stands out here.
Both the HP ProBook and the MacBook Pro M1 come with all in one trackpads with the click built in. The HP ProBook has a manual click whereas the M1 totes Apple’s vibration click. So basically the trackpad isn’t manually activated by the click from the mechanism moving. Rather the amount of force that is applied to the trackpad causes a vibration that feels like a click.
The ProBook 630 comes with a much wider variety of ports. So if you’re not into that dongle life than the ProBook will be the better choice.
The ProBook 630 comes with:
Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 2
x2 Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 2
HDMI Port
SC (SmartCard) Slot
Headphone Jack
And the MacBook Pro M1 comes with:
x2 USB-C 3.1 (DisplayPort)
Mic/headphone combo
The HP ProBook 630 G8 I am reviewing comes with:
CPU: Intel 11th Gen Core i7-1165G7 (4 Cores 8 Threads)
GPU: Intel Iris Xe
RAM: 16GB DDR4
Storage: 512B NVMe SSD
Whereas the MacBook Pro M1 comes with:
CPU: Apple M1 (8 Cores 8 Threads)
GPU: 8 Core GPU + 16 Core Neural Engine
RAM: 8GB DDR4
Storage: 512GB SSD
The ProBook 630 only falls slightly behind the MacBook Pro M1 in Photoshop. The ProBook 630 scored a 505 while the MacBook Pro M1 scored a 565. Looking at my charts you can see that the ProBook 630 is actually out-performing the current MacBook Pro 13 inch with the Intel Core i5 offering. Which by the way is a well suited laptop for creators tasks. So, that the ProBook 630 outperforms it is a good sign.
If you are going to be playing back and editing 4k footage on one of these two laptops then the MacBook Pro M1 gets double the smoothness while editing. But to be honest, while the MacBook Pro can handle 4k video editing on a single clip basis, I would recommend both of these laptops for advanced 1080p before I would recommend them for 4k.
So with that in mind, if you purchase the ProBook 630, just note that you will need to shoot and edit 1080p, which in my opinion is totally fine. I currently shoot and edit everything 1080p. Plus, did you know that phones are only HD (1080p). So nearly everyone watching your edits will not know any different.
If you’re looking for a laptop that is highly color accurate, all-aluminum, handles Photoshop in the top of its category, is capable of 4k video editing, and destroys simulated benchmarking tools (just in case you want to impress the neighbor kids), then bi-golly you better go for the MacBook Pro M1.
If you’re looking for a brilliant windows alternative to the Macbook Pro with smooth beveled edges, and incredible keyboard deck and trackpad at half a pound less than I would pick up the HP ProBook 630 G8.

3 years ago I got a 15 inch HP Probook G7 with a i5 10200u and 32 GB of ram from my new workplace . The more I used it , the more I fell in love with it and appreciated what it offered . Now I am waiting for HP to release the G10 and I will be getting one for myself . Can only recommend for someone that needs a reliable windows laptop .
As an owner of probook,I can say - its a one of the best laptops. MacBook has better trackpad and higher screen resolution and ithats all. Probook has more ports, almost 180 degrees lid opening angle, upgradebility ( ram and storage). CPU and gpu allows to play 5-years old games.
Switched to MacBook Pro 2017 “13” from HP ProBook 440 G7.
In terms of characteristics, the MacBook Pro 2017 is inferior to the G7, but the design, screen, and system usability of the MacBook are much better.
I use photoshop and illustrator for many hours with many layers, should I purchase macbook pro m1 or hp spectre x360 i7 11th gen 4k oled, plz reply I have to purchase urgently thanks
Please compare the Ryzen 7 4800h with a gtx 1660ti and the Apple m1 chip
They come in the same range
I have both tested both. Trust me M1 just speeds away. I even altered the
Ryzen machine with more faster NVME SSDS still no match for apple.
What were you working on, project wise, @Avi?
Yes, I can definitely do this. Great idea!
What are your use cases @Junaid?
@@BenGKaiser yup Ben . If u want we can connect and have word on this.
@@avichatterjee2358 I use photoshop and illustrator for many hours with many layers huge files, which one is better between macbook pro m1 or hp spectre x360 i7 11th gen thanks
i just bought a 640 g8. as i was leaving the store i tripped and damaged the left corner. still works just fine. i installed linux mint on it
Poor you… at least you’re okay and the laptop is too 😅
When will the 11th gen and rtx laptops will be out ? I guess how is weak at video editing because it doesn't have an nevidia card ?
That is correct!
Hopefully I will get one to test soon and then we will have them available to the main market shortly thereafter!
Can you do a video about the best 3000 series laptops for cad
As soon as I can get one and start testing, YES. Until then my recommendations would not be backed by my own data, and I can't do that. ;)

the performance gap can hold a whole generation of HP laptops in between
Eh?
Can we use a MacBook Air M1 with 16GB of RAM for graphic design/ video editing works/ photo editing works or maybe is the HP the best choice having a dedicated GPU?
No need of Macbook Pro 16gb for video editing and design. I use a 8gb and runs super smooth with like 60 tabs of Chrome, Photoshop, Slack, Illustrator, Notion and Whatsapp. 256 SSD also.
@@lucasrabello9766 thanks man 🙏 I’m thinking about Air M2 but still fascinated by Win11 on ProBooks or GalaxyBooks 🙈
@@ValterBIGbs gimmicks bro. Nobody beats macs
@@dbss206 I’m yet a PC user 🙈… till this moment 🙊
9min 4K - who does those videos
So you’re telling me the M1 is still outpacing an Intel core i7 11th gen on non native apps like premiere pro.
Yeah, it's a beast.
i'm sorry, but the trackpad on the macbook is the best trackpad ever made.. you can 'click' everywere
That is an excellent point.
Yeah, I just hate when it doesn't recognize my dragging and dropping.
The Great thing about HP's is that the RAM and SSD aren't Soldered onto the Motherboard and that HP has very Comprehensive Maintenance and Service Manuals freely and easily accessible on their Support Website unlike Apple which is a Huge pile of 💩
can someone tell hp probook 450 g8(I5-1135g7;16gb ram;mx450) can give at least 120 fps in valorant AND is it better than lenovo ideapad 5 pro(R5-5600h;16gb ram;integrated amd radeon graphic)?
I also wanna know if u did know which better?
@@faridayasser506 i bought ideapad but with gtx1650 it is probably better than probook
Dell XPS much better
This is not a "Windows laptop" you can install any Linux on it within minutes. HP even offers to ship it with dos, saving you 200 dollars! The 455 with AMD Ryzen would be more interesting to fight that mobile phone SoC.
you are comparing 16GB ram probook with 8GB mac...thats not even a fair comparision lol
