    GE9X is probably the most beautiful engine I've ever seen. Absolutely stunning amount of effort, testing and engineering to make an engine that size.

    I also like the Rolls-Royce engines, it's truly amazing what kind of materials they come up with. Can't wait to see the new Rolls-Royce engines on the B-52s.

    The 747 test bed can operate on just 3 engines. The cf6 . However the ge9x is so powerful only 2 are need for the 747-4 to take off and fly.

      I said the same thing a couple years ago in a video about the GE9X, that you could have a twin engine 747 if they were both GE9X’s, and someone was arguing that it wouldn’t work. It would be cool to see.

    • @tpr1808
      @tpr1808 Год назад

      @@GRosa250 well imagine if one faila, for the size of a 747 that's so many lives at risk. And given that the 747-8 is bigger it wouldn't work well to make a new version similar or bigger than that in size because of weight distribution, unless they probably downsize it to that of the -100 or 200

    Nice video, but the GENX is not the most powerful engine at the thrust stated in the video. Among the current 777's engine options is the GE-90 turbofan, which produces 125,000 pounds of thrust, much of it via the front fan (the bypass) rather than the combustor; this occurs on a test stand. In service mounted on the aircraft, the engine is derated to 110,000 lb o thrust, still higher than the GENX. But the new 777-X's design and aerodynamic efficiency allows it to haul a higher payload with a slightly lower thrust engine, which means substantial fuel savings and lower emissions.

    Emissions won't go down. It's a scam. They will go up because of what it takes to extract the material need to build the electric engines and batteries.

    The RR Ultrafan has a 140” diameter fan, so the GE engine is NOT the largest.

    • @John-nc4bl
      @John-nc4bl Год назад +1

      The GE engine mentioned in the video is the largest in production engine.
      The RR geared fan engine is unlikely to see production.

    • @Mbartel500
      @Mbartel500 Год назад

      @@John-nc4bl They said largest in the world, not largest in production. RR is not going to throw away over 1.4 billion dollars in Ultrafan development costs. It will take a while to fully develop, flight test, and certify. Geared jet engines are the future. They will replace regular turbofans, just like the fans replaced the turbojets. Just like variable pitch props replaced fixed pitch props back in the day.
