Westeros is eerily peaceful. King Aerys I sits on the Iron Throne. A ravaging plague has abated. Yet beneath the surface, tensions linger sixteen years after a failed rebellion. In these restless times, noble hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall-Dunk, to his friends-and his precocious boy squire, Egg, travel the Seven Kingdoms performing chivalrous deeds, though Egg’s bloodline must be concealed at all costs.
After heading north for Winterfell, Dunk and Egg are lured off the kingsroad by a wedding feast-and an unusually lucrative tournament. The champion jouster will claim a rare trophy indeed: a dragon’s egg. Dunk, always better in a melee, would be satisfied with a hot meal, a cup of wine, and a purse full of coins. But a treasonous plot is more likely to hatch before another dragon ever stretches its wings. Someone’s on to Egg. And a mystery knight with designs on an even bigger prize soon throws the entire affair into chaos.

Ser Maynard Plumm doing his best to advise Dunk and Egg to get out of there and Dunk stubbornly hanging on oblivious. Dunk the lunk indeed. I love that he's as oblivious to the Fiddler's flirting as he is to all the plotting. Dunk has to be one of my fave GRRM characters. It's refreshing to have someone so honourable and sweet.

I think if Dunk and Egg left the result would have been much bloodier.
@@darkhorse306 I think that is sort of the point underneath the surface of all these books.
Dunk isn't smart but he has heart. He should have walked away each time but he hangs on and his infectius good nature changes those around him subtly.

The narrator did a good job.
Some of the pronunciations were ridiculous though. "Targarrien" come on, everyone knows how to pronounce that name properly.

@@mntlhlthaddtnstilltryinggot was good up until episode 7 of season 5. After that it went to shit. House of the dragon messed up by doing the ridiculous time skips, terrible casting and not starting with aegons conquest and just showing the entire targaryen rule.

@@nicholausmills548 Egg was 59 and Sir Duncan was 66/67 years old when they both died at the fire at Summerhall. Rhaegar(Jon Snow’s dad) was born the same day.

It was butchered way before season 8.
It was GRRM's fault. He was supposed to be finished with the books by the time they got to the final seasons. Yes, it was bad but they had no source material to work with.
@@1980999chris actually there was plenty of source material but they chose to rush it, and while GRRM is by no means exonerated from the mess, the show runners clearly wanted out because HBO was quite happy to go on for at least 2 more seasons.

I don’t know how this guy is a narrator. It’s still pronounced “Sir” lol and butchering Targaryen? I made it 20mins, do yourself a favor and get the older Frank Muller narrated versions.

@@Commander_Bern Can't be. Harry Lloyd is British, and would speak with a more appropriate accent.
Besides, he's done a fair amount of voice work, and the sound of his voice is pretty familiar
Lastly...he's simply a MUCH better actor/reader than the person doing this.
