A little late now, but we had the exact same issue. If your oven was previously connected to the wifi and u added the device to your whirlpool app, u can unlock the oven from the app in the oven settings. It worked like a charm and we were ready to throw down 400 bucks to replace the control panel too...

Just to help people in the future. I had this exact same issue and replaced to control panel only to find out that wasn’t the issue. Now I have to replace the touch screen and see if that fixes my problem.
I fix the problem on my whirlpool. I had to buy a new front electronic display board. I bought one from EBay for 377.00 dollars . This board can cost up to 600. dollars unless you know someone that can repair the board. After I replaced the display board the oven controls stopped saying controls locked. Then I had to set up the oven for WI Fi and get out of demo mode. I couldn’t bake anything until I got out of demo mode. It took some time figuring it all out. Behind that display board was three plug ins. Pretty easy to replace . You have to pull the oven out from the wall. Undo the two screws holding it in and two screws on each side . Then you can pull the top of the oven display off. Unplug the three plugs and change the board.
I have the same issue just past warranty. There should be a recall. I hate giving Whirlpool more money to fix a problem they know about. Any suggestions? Whirlpool and the dealer are no help
whirlpool needs to recall all of their oven appliances. This is some defect on their part. we have barely used this oven and now this ghostly locked screen can’t be unlocked.
Has anyone figured out how to get this screen unlocked? I have tried everything including changing the control board. I have swiped up on the screen a thousand times. Still locked! It seems to me now, that the unit is stuck in some safety mode that inhibits the control panel. Please respond if you have a solution. Thanks.

THE WORST OVEN in my 60+ years. I reset to factory settings (in info screen). It’s now unlocked. BUT the current time is wrong. Can’t figure out how to fix it!

The thing is when pressing that setting button, nothing showing up like you said on the touch screen for me to choose instead of the same message displaying over and over again “controls lock/the product is lock/ swipe up to unlock” 🤷♂️. So how can you do that?
I pushed so many things, so many times, deleted the app from my phone, added back on. Somehow I was able to use the setting button. I hope something works for you.
The difference is you’ve already installed the app and connected to the appliance while I haven’t done so yet! Anyway I’ll try a couple times more to see any luck and if not, I have to try to replace the touch screen like one of the comment solution here! Had whirlpool come and fix the issue. If it’s under warranty no need to pay otherwise you have to pay
Why does the oven lock in the first place? Is someone going to steal it? Just ridiuclous!
