I am in exact same situation. Whirlpool customer care is not trying to understand the problem. They are interested in sending a technician to fix. I am an embedded software engineer for 20 years and I can understand these issues. This is not a touchpanel issue. It is a software bug. Smart Appliances should have a provision to hardreset the firmware so that we can re-configure everything. This situation blocks the user interface, not enabling the user to troubleshoot. The touch works just fine. I see more than 100 people on different forums complaining about the same problem. Whirlpool is not listening. There should be a recall on this model and they have to update the Firmware.
If my analysis is right, their reset is not turning off the control locks counter on the EEPROM. And after reset the condition check is failing because the counter is already on but the check seems to be resulting in negative comparision. Whoever wrote this code might be an amateur and the testing was not done properly.

    To everyone having this issue:
I fixed it by buying a replacement touchscreen off Ebay. It was very easy to install and only requires a philips head screwdriver.
TURN THE POWER OFF AT THE BREAKER FOR 5 MINUTES, DO NOT TURN IT BACK ON UNTIL THE SCREEN IS REPLACED. Once you unscrew the oven wall mounts on the side, slide the oven out about 8 inches. You can access the 2 screws on either side of the LED screen, unscrew them, and slowly take it off. You then need to unplug the blue wire, white power cable, and pull off the teal wires from the metal.
Find the model number on the inside of the removed touchscreen, mine was w11252903, and buy a new one on Ebay. You install it the same way you uninstalled it.
A new screen saved me from having to pay thousands for a new oven. No Whirlpool customer service needed.
Note: I am not responsible for any incorrect parts or practices, nor am I liable if you void your warranty. Always be careful with appliances and electricity and contact a professional when needed 👌

@@mikeshinoda10001 - another question- how is the display ON even after I turn off the power? Apparently the light also inside the oven is switching on even when I open the oven door after I turn off the power. Any idea?
