    Spot on about being able to see the potential for a garment rather than being mad that it doesn't fit right or they don't have your size. It makes things like shopping the clearance rack at Target a GOLDMINE for some awesome clothes! One of the smartest things I've ever learned how to do what to learn how to use a sewing machine! BTW, any reason why you hide your subscriber count? As a heads up, it can push people away from subscribing themselves. They see it as someone wanting to hide because of the low number, doesn't make sense but it's just how it works. Keep up the good work!

      Yes, there's gold mines everywhere once we know how to see them - I love thrift stores and clearance racks. As for the sub count, thanks for the suggestion, I'll think about it. It's cool to see another youtuber on here - I checked out your channel and love the topics + branding. Wishing you the best of luck in your growth, and let's stay in touch :)

    I've been interested in sewing / tailoring on and off for quite some time now, and some of the other channels I follow are so cool but they assume a greater knowledge base than I currently have. So I am super grateful for stumbling onto yours! You do a great job explaining things for a beginner!
    I think a helpful future video would be how to assess what type of tailoring is possible and what types of adjustments are easy vs. difficult. For instance, shoulder adjustments to a shirt versus making a pair of regular pants petite-size (not just shortening the length). And what types of decor or styling on an article of clothing you look out for and how difficult they may be (or awkward, etc.) in light of any adjustments you want to make.

    I’m so excited to find these videos! I’ve been wanting to learn to alter my clothes for years. My lower body is two or three sizes smaller than my top half, so I’m always running into sizing problems, and I know I would feel so much better about my body if I had clothes that really fit well. I think everyone would. I think we could start a body image revolution if we got enough people to learn this!

      YES! Having representation of different body types is so important, I'll see what I can do. Are there any areas which are particularly tricky for you to assess fit?

      I'm so glad it helps! It's a little crude, which I know isn't the typical method in sewing communities. I was a little unsure if I should post it because of that, but I'm glad I did :)

    I enjoyed your video very much. I lost 50 pounds and now have "nothing" to wear! I took some items into an alteration place but have no idea what it is going to cost. I'm pretty good with my sewing skills so I have decided I'm going to try altering my clothes. I have a lot! some items are brand new & are huge on me. I went from a size 16 in jeans down to a size 4. Some of these I only got to wear a couple of times. Anyway, I'm asking for any advice & videos you have to share. I have dresses, pants, tops, t-shirts, jeans etc. Help? Thank you so much.

Gonna try an do 1-2skirts cause like you said use something your not gonna be upset if its ruined and I have a fee of those. So thank you

    I have a skirt that is gored. It is a size too big. The front of the skirt is buttoned to close and is midi in length. There are two seams in the front, two seams, on on each side and two seams on the back. There is no lining. I am trying to figure out where to take in the extra room, then adjusting the waistband that has no elastic and is loose around the waist. Any ideas on how to go about this?

    I don't think you ever mention seam allowance do you not use seam allowances?

    • @ScrappyTreasures
      @ScrappyTreasures  6 лет назад +1

      You're right, maybe I should mention that! You can see my process more in this video: ruclips.net/video/EcPQwe-MYtA/видео.html.
      Basically, while I wear my clothes inside out, I put pins where I would like to sew, mark over that line with chalk, sew on that line, then I cut about a half inch away from that line, which is my seam allowance.
