When I turn my electric fan by hand it turns a little bit then stops and it feels like it is jammed up… also, If the 30 amp fuse blows does it mean the motor is bad?
Excellent video. I have a 2000 Durango (4.7 eng) the fan will not shut off. Temp. is fine. This is a sporadic problem, today it was on 90% of the day while driving. Going to replace the relay. Any other suggestions?
I'm gonna test the relay to the main fan but I was wondering if you ever had the main fan (fan clutch) become "stuck on" while the engine is running? Essentially mine runs at full bore when driving and never kicks off...
Amazing video! Any idea on how I can wire up a switch to turn on the efan? but I don't want to deal with the large wires running to the efan, can I tap into a computer wire near the dash? Where could I find the trigger wire for the computer?
Just looking at my fuses and relays on my '99 5.9L Durango, they seem to be okay but there's a slot marked "radiator fan select relay" that's empty (slot #32). Shouldn't there be a relay in that slot? The fan seems to run okay - fan clutch tension is good, fan turns on while running the A/C but I'm having some overheating issues: thinking about replacing the thermostat, changing out the stock transmission cooler for a better one (it's overheating now too) and servicing the trans filter, solenoid, pressure/temp sensor, gasket etc.
I had no idea how to check my electric fan until I saw this video. I swapped relays and bypassed the relay and no spinning. I have 12V at fan when relay jumped and good ground both at the fan connector. I suppose this means the fan is dead ($$).
Can you help me out? I have a 14' Durango RT and when I start the engine the fan kicks on at max speed and mind you the engine is cold has not been running so basically a cold start same when the when you start the engine after running it. But the fan will turn off as soon as I put it in gear.
However people that don't mean you will still have too check 20 different issues and pay thousands for auto part's and macianics and get scammed of thousands and do back home with a useless vehicle because no one knows the real problems with vehicle
Right to the point... All great info with no 5 minute intro and other annoying music... Gold standard... Thanks
I wanna let you know that you did a awesome job explaining how the fan works ..
you went straight to the point and no BS . Thanks for the help
Nice explanation of exactly what you where touching. Not a lengthy video of irrelevant information. Straight and to the point. Nice work.
This vid is gold! Exactly what I needed to see prior to just buying a new fan assembly. Thanks !
A very good place to start diagnosing your cooling fan. Thanks!
Restoring a 2001 Durango 1 owner vehicle! Fabulous video!,,,thanks!!
Same here. While rig got lifted abs moved 10ft by work truck. Timing chain might be off, the whole right bank is not firing.
Thank you so much. Going to look at that before the Phoenix summer starts.

DID YOU EVER EVEN GET AN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION ? ... VERY GOOD QUESTION ⁉️ SADLY I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER ,SORRY
Easy and instructional. Thank you!

Did you find the cause? My 2000 Durango is doing the same thing.

❤ thank you very much 😘
If I put a new ground wire to the frame will it turn on still?
Exactly what I needed to know, except where is the thermostat switch located that tells the computer that things are getting too hot?
It is behind the alternator next to a hose. Difficult to get to. Im still trying to figure out how to unplug it
My Dakota won’t start if this fuse isn’t in there. Is that normal?
Perfectly said.
Great video 💯
👍👍
AND ???... DAH 😁
Thank you for this video!
WE ALL KNOW THAT
great video. thank you
Nice troubleshooting. When does the emc transmit power to the cooling fan? I mean at what temp?
I am trying to determine the same thing. I heard that the fan only comes on with ac engaged or when the engine reaches 195.
thanks
very accessibly!!
Mine is running when it shouldn’t be and truck won’t start!
How could it run if don't start ?
good info thanks
Great video
