  • Specticle Flo is a pre emergent herbicide that I use in my lawn care program. It is a great product for weed control in warm season grasses. I use it in the fall to control poa annua. I am planning to start using it in late spring or early spring to help prevent doveweed. Tony Culberson joins me in this video to answer a lot of my questions about Specticle. We talk about mixing rates and recommended uses of specticle. We discuss using Spectice flo on bermuda, zoysia, centipede and st augustine lawns.

definilty enjoyed the detailed info on Specticle. I didn't run it this fall....but REALLY considered it. I just couldn't drop the $$$ for a gallon this year. I did buy the smaller jug 2 years back though, and the yards I experimented on were solid. Great results from what I could tell

Specticle Flo is well worth the money. Very low rate, thus low cost to use per thousand. I use it for winter weed control and it gives a clean transition into spring green up. I also add a winter booster like simizine or atrazine for warm season grasses.

Coming from North Alabama and being fairly new to the turf game. Your videos have been extremely helpful, this video is no different. Just knowing you're battling the same problems as myself gives me relief. A big thank you for that brother. Lol, On using Specticle when my boss told me there was a $1600 price tag for that gallon I about when 10 toes up. You can only imagine how heavily I've guarded that gallon between uses. Our local landscape supply sales rep informed us that some of the larger turf management companies come in to purchase $100k of this product alone before each pre emergent round. That's a check that would hurt my heart handing over, but when you have the client base some companies do. I'm sure they make more than enough money on the back end.

Is the longevity of effectiveness not mostly affected by inches of water, whether irrigation or rain? How many inches? That's where splits work best. The amount of water before or after application seems quite important. Also Indaziflam is my go to choice all year, especially because of poa and doveweed. Now, we need an alternative to Gallery 75df for chamber bitter.

Trugreen applied Specticle Flo at 8oz per acre rate on a fescue lawn before labor day weekend. Killed it. Ruined the overseeding done two weeks prior and in then in October. Didn’t know then that the damage done lasts 10 months.

Hey Jason, thank you for the videos.
I laid 14 pallets of tiftuf Bermuda in late April. Can I put down pre emergent the first year, or do I need to wait until spring?
I'm starting to see some cool season weeds, and am tempted to put down a light app.

Jason - great video! Very informative and I enjoyed it very much, so if you can do more like these that would be great. I do have a question and maybe you could relay this on to the Bayer rep: as an experienced DIY homeowner, I do like to use some of the professional level products since what we find in the big box stores, ACE, etc. to be so limited and not satisfactory for our needs. The problem we have is that the buy-in for these pro level products is prohibitively high and in quantities that are far too large for someone treating less than 10,000 sq ft. Would it be possible to start producing a homeowner product with a smaller volume and lower cost? Say a bottle of Spectacle Flo that would last a few seasons in a 10,000 sq ft yard and cost under $75? From a cost per application perspective, I think such a product would still be highly profitable and open up the market for those of us in the DIY segment. You could even consider making a bottle that has a lower concentration of active ingredient and lower quantity of product to keep costs down. Many of us would really like to see that, not just with Spectacle Flo but many of the other Bayer products like Celsius, Revolver, etc. and even the Tribute Total mentioned in the video. Thanks again Jason!
