You just answered the question I was about to ask !!! That was going to be if they planned to release the SS version of the VW. Well that's the kit in the box plus the bed. CMK has a resin aftermarket P/E and resin for the SS version which is definitely something you need if you want to have open doors. CMK offers a set for the engine and it's compartment, too. I can't wait to get one of those kits because I want to do another SS version. I used the suspension of a Tamiya Swimwagen for the 4-wheel drive. HERO from China makes a very good kit too.
My research says that the pickup was only used at the factory and was something Porsche created from parts for the use around the factory and only a few were made. 6 I think. Great kits and easy to build. A these are great kits for the beginner and you just need to get the ambulance kit for the body and then you will have both your choice of the box body or the pickup along with the unique SS version. DES tires are an outstanding choice for resin tyres of several types. The SS version used both types of tyres used on the Swimwagen too.
