- growing leafy greens is easy and wonderful...let's take it from growth all the way through freezing for storage. Swiss Chard, Mustard, Spinach, Beet Leaf, Collard, Radish and more. If you can eat it, you can use this method to freeze it. Yes you can can leaf greens however I find they just turn to mush so I avoid doing that.
The greens look wonderful!
@@marygallagher3428 they are pretty wonderful
I love watching the greens being selected... SO yummy and good! I always simply blanched greens and then quickly froze them! Also reminds me of a wonderful Herb I recently found at the Mexican store in Salem. Papalo is the name of it and today I added it to my cooked beans bring them to a whole new level! Always Your video gave me the inspiration to pickle some beets and maybe try a new herbal blend! Thanks for sharing all you do here! Have a terrific weekend!
@dianaj3139 ill have to check out Papalo, thanks
I don't eat enough greens. Collards are about the only ones I look forward to eating. I'm a bigger fan of cabbages than greens. Capsule idea is pretty good. I might actually do that
@@PalmettoPrepared I do love collards too. Not many folks eat them here (up north)

I never thought of this. I grew a couple varieties of lettuce this year, and one harvest was 9 gallon bagsworth of salad lettuce that I doled out to neighbors. But a lot was wasted. I wasn't able to use nearly as much lettuce as the plants produced, and I didn't want my neighbors to run into their houses and lock the doors when they saw me coming with more lettuce bags, so I learned not to grow more than I can conceivably use of that particular green. Super easy to grow, though. Now I am trying to harvest the seeds per the MIGardener method. Never thought of freezing Swiss chard -- I think that's a terrific idea. I may have missed it in the video but how exactly do you cook with the thawed portion afterwards? Just thaw it and season it and eat it as is?
Also, you reminded me that the restaurant supply store that was supposed to be going into the new complex down the street still hasn't occupied the space... I'm hopeful they're just biding their time. I need a supply store nearby!
I take the frozen puck and add just a bit of water into a sauce pan and heat up or in the microwave...think frozen spinach.
@@OldSchoolPrepper I see... thanks for the tip!
