When I was little we had this pineapple plant in this big ceramic pot in my grandparents’ abandoned house in the village, we didn’t have to look after it at all and every season we simply visited to harvest the fruit. It was awesome

That’s awesome! Did you plant the top part of the taproot with leaves? It may produce flowers and seeds for you! It’s a cold-hardy perennial (zones 2-9) so if it thrives you won’t have to plant it again. I planted parts of roots a few years ago, but unfortunately, they rotted, the soil didn’t drain well.
I've started a few pineapple plants from tops, the way she shows in this video. What I didn't know until recently is that each top can be used to grow multiple plants. The top grows roots all the way around it. It can be cut into quarters and as long as each section has roots on it, it will grow into its own plant.
@@blessisrael6455 I'm sorry, I didn't see this question until just now when the person below commented and I got a notification. I'm rooting the tops in glasses of water. Once the root system is developed, I put them in pots with unmodified indoor potting soil until the plant has developed and grown a good 6 inches or so. My plants are bigger than that right now, so I'm ready to put them in the ground outside, but I don't really want to do it yet with winter coming on, so I'm about to move them to bigger pots until spring.
I feel like I’ve stumbled into heaven! 🙏🏽 🙋🏻♀️ First time I’ve seen your Channel, and I am crazy happy! 6-22-2022/ Today is 80 degrees here in the PacNW, after what felt like centuries of cold and massive rain, or as more commonly known, 2022 Spring in Southwest Washington, on the Columbia River! My balcony gardens are finally showing life, and I wanted to hopefully do something with the core base left from a cauliflower I’m roasting as I write, as part of my weekly meal prep! And VOILA! YOU came up in a search for “cauliflower rooting”! And to add the icing to my favorite nut flour cake, I’m overjoyed that you are in the PacNW too! We have so many micro climates, and “nuance education” is exponentially important and valuable. So THANK YOU! In fact, my schedule for the next few days, thanks to your inspiration, is getting my 45 + plant balcony garden in order, with flowers, plants, fruits and veggies to tend to. And YAHOO, THE SUN HAS ARRIVED! I was feeling kind of down about the whole thing, as the weather was not allowing me and Sasha 🐾, to do all the outdoor things we love to do. And the balcony was in pretty sad shape! I’d had a bit of a false start when a sad strawberry plant 🍓 that hasn’t produced for 5 years (aka EVER lol) thought April was berry season, and produced 12 medium sized berries that were quite sensational! But the Sun did not want to play, so the rain took its place once again as the Winner! I really cannot thank you enough….as I’ve been re-energized, and suddenly see with new eyes, that I have a gorgeous apartment, in a truly stunning setting…here in the middle of a massively landscaped, urban neighborhood with views of Mt Hood and Mt St Helen. My absolute favorite part- I’m tucked into rows of “Four Season Trees”--looking out my kitchen window right now I can count 18, all as tall as 3 story buildings! So in addition to lovely NATURE views, we enjoy all sorts of birds, primarily friendly, neighborly hummingbirds! A nearby massive stone-and-water features bring dragonflies! The types of flowers bring bees and butterflies! All this co-existing , with fantastic restaurants and multiple playgrounds, parks, duck ponds, dog parks, and open spaces, within 2 blocks of my place! Yes…..my soul has been reborn today! 🙏🏽🫶🏽
Hello neighbor! So nice to meet you! Yes, we finally have warm weather, it's been a very long spring for us. Your place sounds incredible and love that you're surrounded with nature! We have so much to be grateful for. Wishing you a wonderful season and abundance. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story and for your kind words! 💚☺️ Happy Gardening, Misilla
I have roots growing out of some old carrots in my refrigerator. The entire length of the carrot. I've noticed that if you buy carrots at the store, always buy the full-length ones, not the small, cut-up ones that come prewashed in those little bags. They'll last a lot longer and won't slime up on you. Instead, they'll dry out and grow roots.
I just went and bought organic carrots and they were rotten. I went back and found they were all rooted. Not good. I’m interested in growing carrots; how do you regrow them ?? Cut the head off ? So roots grow off carrot heads ?? Thanks !! ; ) 🙏🎚
Hi no if you plant the top end of the carrot it will produce leaves you can eat and will eventually flower and produce seeds you can plant to grow carrots☺️🙏🏽
Oyster mushrooms are really easy to regrow from stem too on aspen or oak wood shavings. The shavings must be hardwood not soft wood. The wood shavings a.k.a. substrate must be boiled for about two hours to sterilize it of any competitive microbes. Make a container with quarter inch holes for mushroom to grow out from and smaller drain holes on the bottom with micropore tape over them all to protect from contamination. make sure the container is sterile as well. Mix the substrate and mushroom stems or spawn and wait one month for the container to fully colonize, keep in a dark place while the mycelium is growing. Once fully colonized Expose the container to fresh air and indirect sunlight to trigger fruiting. Remove the micropore tape from the holes and watch mushrooms grow from it. Mushrooms like to be at 50 - 80 degrees F.
This makes me happy! I can most foods, so I always have lots of scraps and use most of them for stocks etc. But with the economy and food shortages I want to regrow some of my vegetables, esp greens! Thanks so much for this informative video! I might even try a pineapple! 😉
When u started growing from scraps while placing them into small containers of water, where do u place them, in shady location or at a location where it got some sunlight?? Anyway thanks for this video. 👍👍🙏🙏🙏
You’re welcome Sara! I put the links on description of the video to the updates. I was able to harvest a nice variety of seeds from the scraps. Thanks for watching! Misilla
WOW!! I always knew that you could harvest from scraps BUT I never knew gow many vegetables could be used!! Thanks so much for all the info!! I'm new at this but with prices of fresh veggies today I am seriously wanting to start a garden. I'm going to start out small and see got I do at it. When I was a kid growing up in Brooklyn my Dad had a huge garden full of veggies that my Mom would have us go pick the veggies needed for a meal. I seriously wish I would have paid better attention to all my Dad did out there. Again, thank you so much forthe.great info.. I've subscribed !!💞
Been doing the for a few year now,. It has save me on grocery money. Bell peppers, tomatoes, potatoes,. Garlic and onions are what I grow from left oves
We need this now more than ever! Prices are crazy! I picked up a lettuce at Walmart that was the size of a softball. It was $1.79! No way. I got some herbs today and will propagate others I have a home.
Hi! You are so welcome! Glad to hear that! Here's the update of the scraps last month, going to get free seeds this summer! Have a great weekend and thanks for watching! Misilla ruclips.net/video/QbvxK0qJ0zI/видео.html
I saved a ton of seeds from my Bok Choy and 2 different kind of Kale this year. The plants survived the cold North East winter and put out seeds this summer.
Hi! Glad you enjoyed it! Make sure to change the water daily or every other day to prevent bacteria growth and rot. It will regrow some leaves before it flowers and go to seed. Thanks for watching!
I started developing interest in DIY gardening and this is so awesome🤗😍 It looks so easy if you are passionate about generally anything you are doing.I love it so incredible💝👍
That’s wonderful Naomi! I agree and its so rewarding and therapeutic too. Wishing you a great season! Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great week and happy gardening! 🌱❤️Misilla
Glad it was helpful Amber! Make sure to change the water daily or every other day to prevent bacteria growth. Also, you can plant them directly in the soil in early spring or fall when the weather cools. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by! Misilla
So glad you said about the onions not producing big bulbs, otherwise I'd have thought it was another misleading clickbait video. I've had spring onions grow from supermarket bases for over 2 years. I've never bothered collecting seeds as many of the supermarket vegs are hybrids. I have to admit I've never tried to grow on the celery base. As I use stem and leaves in cooking that's a great tip. Cheers! 👍
Hi Gerry, Glad you enjoyed the video! I love regrowing spring onions too and have noticed them multiply over the years. I collected celery and carrot seeds from the regrown scraps last summer. Thanks for watching! Misilla
Do it . It has made me so happy. I feel a feeling of control in my life in a world out of control. Study everything and learn . Your focus changes your future. Gardening is like a productive mediation. Calm and focused. This is really good for the emune system. Then you can eat it. 😁😁😁😁😁😇😇😇😇😇gods work is every day love for our 🌎 EARTH.
Donna Couch my husband and I started a garden this year with tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, green beans, bell pepper, lettuce and watermelon. Still waiting on my dill seeds and thinking of adding cantaloupe. Maybe onions and garlic. Nothing planted from seed has come up yet but hoping for the best.
You are simply wonderful and I thank you for the beautiful way you just SHARE the priceless gift of nature...I hope your garden grows and grows and grows ..
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! If you try this, it is best to change the water daily or every other day to prevent bacteria growth. Have a great weekend! Misilla
Great! Ido the same thing with some of store bought veggies. It’s amazing how spring onions grow so fast and big in no time. And it doesn’t die over winter😌 right now I’m trying kale 🤞🏼 hopefully it works out.
Note: You cannot keep growing vegetables in the water forever. They will die if you see them getting light in color then get them in good dirt. You can only start them in water. And change the water once or twice a day. Also you can wrap onions in paper towels and keep wetting them. I actually have organic fruit n vegys and even squash seeds inside the squash that grows in the baskets or in the fridge without water too, LOL! My hubby retired and he was amazed at all the plants growing on the table in water. I have also just put them in the ground and kept them damp without putting them in water first and they have grown like that also. :)
Hi Joyce, I root some in water then plant in the soil and some I plant directly in the soil. I fertilize the ones in pots every two weeks and in ground about once a month . I uploaded the update and some have flowers and seed pods. We should be getting free seeds this summer. That has happened to a pumpkin I grew one year, the seeds germinated inside the pumpkins! Thanks for watching! Here’s a link to the update. Misilla ruclips.net/video/QbvxK0qJ0zI/видео.html
Not to sound rude, but there are hydroponic farmers out there who have businesses around only growing their plants in water, with the use of fertilizers and other nutrients regularly.
Hi I put them next to a window or you can place them on a windowsill. I uploaded the update, here’s the link. Thanks for watching! Misilla ruclips.net/video/QbvxK0qJ0zI/видео.html
It’s true that one can grow plants hydroponically but that is a whole other venture, you need to have the right kinds of nutrients in the water. But yes, that could be an option, I suppose.
I love your gentle, patient, kind informative video on how to grow herbs and vegetables from kitchen scraps. I'm sick, myself, right now, but my husband and I are growing kale and arugula on our shady patio. I'm also going to purchase a quart size pot of chives when I order our groceries online this week.(I need pots/containers!) However, I also thought of purchasing a packet of the fresh spearmint and starting it in water. (I was Inspired by DIY Gardening!) Thank you for showing us ten more herbs and vegetables that can be grown from kitchen scraps and explaining how to start them in water!
Hi Christine, Thank you for your kind words. I hope you feel better soon! I'm glad to hear you've got some crops growing already and those are great choices and are nutrient-dense! Have a great day and get well soon! Misilla
@@LearnToGrow1 😇❤️💚💛🌄🌱🏵️🦋🌏🌎 🌍 I did get better, thank you! I'm glad to know that the kale and arugula are nutrient dense! I didn't receive much arugula in my "Lettuce, Salad Blend"; However, it was good and I have one plant left that only has a few, strong leaves on it. Will it spread or do I need to purchase more plants or seed? My kale, on the other hand, is flourishing! (I harvested enough to chop up and wilt into a homemade vegetable soup that my husband and I enjoyed!) I was also able to purchase a small pot of parsley and one of chives. I move my plants three times a day to keep them in the sunny places on my patio.
Loved watching this video. So mainly the scraps of grown for the seeds so you can use them for another time? So once the seeds are collected you have to dry them out I’m presuming and plant them again at the right season. Sorry I’m just getting all these things in my head so I understand ☺️
That’s great! Some scallions are perennial so they come back every year. The biennial ones go to seed in the second season and you May get seeds! If you plant potato pieces, let them form a scab first so they don’t rot in the soil. Carrots usually go to seed on its second season if replanted! Thanks for watching! Misilla

I do this all the time! Have been saying for years that the best way to preserve /grow veg is to use the stuff you buy. I originally started doing this with spring onions (scallions to Americans) I would buy a bunch use two or three and throw the rest into the compost bin. One day I noticed one I had thrown in there had sprouted. Bam! Lights went off in my head and a revelation was born! Currently growing Garlic, peas, spring onions, potatoes lettuces and tomatoes. All for the price I paid for the initial purchase.
Exactly, Melanie! It’s a good method of being resourceful and sustainable! Good for you!!! I’m trying out more varieties! I also video uploaded an update on the these veggie scraps! Hope you check out out. 😊Thanks for watching! Misilla

This is so cool! I am getting all my veggies from the fridge and planting them! btw, can you also grow green onions from yellow onions or from shallots?
Hi Junai, So glad you liked it! Yes, I regrow onion and shallots for the greens too! They do best when you remove the flesh that covers the center so you don’t cut the sprouts in the middle in half. Here’s the video on how I remove the middle of the onion or you can leave about an inch of the bottoms before you plant them. Also, I uploaded an update on the scraps...links below. Did you start some? I harvest seeds from the scraps I grew last year (Bok choy, scallions, celery and carrots).
Thank you! I am planning on growing some veggies for my birds.
You're welcome!
My friend chickie does this and it’s working for him. He’s quite the little farmer.
I've started a few pineapple plants from tops, the way she shows in this video. What I didn't know until recently is that each top can be used to grow multiple plants. The top grows roots all the way around it. It can be cut into quarters and as long as each section has roots on it, it will grow into its own plant.
What do you grow it in, what kind of fertilizer ? Or can you grow it right into the ground ?
Great 😮😮
@@blessisrael6455 I'm sorry, I didn't see this question until just now when the person below commented and I got a notification.
First time I’ve seen your Channel, and I am crazy happy!
I plan to start a small garden in my apartment balcony 😁
Same 😊
I have roots growing out of some old carrots in my refrigerator. The entire length of the carrot. I've noticed that if you buy carrots at the store, always buy the full-length ones, not the small, cut-up ones that come prewashed in those little bags. They'll last a lot longer and won't slime up on you. Instead, they'll dry out and grow roots.
I agree! The ones not peeled are more flavorful too!
We’re growing mushrooms indoors right now. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
THANK YOU, MY JOURNEY BEGINS
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
This makes me happy! I can most foods, so I always have lots of scraps and use most of them for stocks etc. But with the economy and food shortages I want to regrow some of my vegetables, esp greens! Thanks so much for this informative video! I might even try a pineapple! 😉
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
When u started growing from scraps while placing them into small containers of water, where do u place them, in shady location or at a location where it got some sunlight??
Anyway thanks for this video. 👍👍🙏🙏🙏
This video was so helpful with seeing the progress to how we should plant and what to expect! Thanks a bunch
You’re welcome Sara! I put the links on description of the video to the updates. I was able to harvest a nice variety of seeds from the scraps. Thanks for watching! Misilla
This is the best version of regrowing vegetables from ‘scraps’ I have seen. Thanks for sharing! Definitely going follow you.
I’m glad you enjoyed this Linda! Those are wonderful memories! It’s never too late to learn to grow food. You can do it! Happy spring! 💕☺️
u can also add sweet potatoes cutting and kangkong ( water spinach).
gtk about the pineapple 👍
I love this video!
Thank you!
I really, really appreciate the more Natural stuff you are sharing with us MAY GOD BLESS You and your Family🌷🦋
Thank you so much! Blessings to you and your family also!
I love your videos. This is my 3rd year gardening, but my first year watching videos and researching. Thank you so much!!
You’re welcome, Athena. Thanks for watching!
Been doing the for a few year now,. It has save me on grocery money. Bell peppers, tomatoes, potatoes,. Garlic and onions are what I grow from left oves
That’s great, Keith! Love how we can get something out of what’s usually thrown out or composted.
We need this now more than ever! Prices are crazy! I picked up a lettuce at Walmart that was the size of a softball. It was $1.79! No way. I got some herbs today and will propagate others I have a home.
Hi Ann, I agree with the rising cost of living, it's important to learn to grow some food. Thanks for watching!
That's how it looks in my place as well. Isn't it fascinating that kitchen scraps grow again. Another bonus are the free seeds 👍
Love it!
Love this video. It helped a lot.First time growing and this made it so much easier.I saved alot of seed money. Thanks so much
Hi! You are so welcome! Glad to hear that! Here's the update of the scraps last month, going to get free seeds this summer! Have a great weekend and thanks for watching! Misilla

I just discovered your channel today and look forward to binge watching your videos!
Thank you so much, Kim! :)
I saved a ton of seeds from my Bok Choy and 2 different kind of Kale this year. The plants survived the cold North East winter and put out seeds this summer.
Found this video by an accident
U made me wanna try it out 🥰
I tried the lettuce , i hope it grows healthier 🥰
Hi! Glad you enjoyed it! Make sure to change the water daily or every other day to prevent bacteria growth and rot. It will regrow some leaves before it flowers and go to seed. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this amazing information. I will have to try these ideas.
You're welcome, Lynda!
🌱❤️Misilla
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 😊
I learned a lot from the video thank you ❤
You’re welcome 😍
Yessss!!! You're in the PNW! This is super helpful for me as a beginner.
Cheers! 👍
Hi Gerry,
Glad you enjoyed the video! I love regrowing spring onions too and have noticed them multiply over the years. I collected celery and carrot seeds from the regrown scraps last summer.
Thanks for watching! Misilla
I have to keep myself busy ,so I am going to start a garden this year ,
Hi Donna, That’s great! Gardening is a great way to stay busy and it’s therapeutic. Have a great week! Thanks for watching!

Gardening is like a productive mediation. Calm and focused. This is really good for the emune system. Then you can eat it. 😁😁😁😁😁😇😇😇😇😇gods work is every day love for our 🌎 EARTH.
Same here
Donna Couch my husband and I started a garden this year with tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, green beans, bell pepper, lettuce and watermelon.
Misilla
Thanks for this video. My family and I eat a lot of fruits and veggies. We can definitely save if we grow our own.
You’re welcome!
Praise Yah! I thank him for the food and things he's given us!
Amazing!
Thanks for sharing with us your vlogs now we know how to regrow some vegetable in the kitchen,,,thank you so much and God Bless❤️🙏👍❤️
You’re welcome and God Bless 🙏🏽❤️
My pineappleplant did grow a pineapple in the second year. (The flower looks awesome by the way.)
I can't wait! Thank you!
I will have to do this for winter season but indoors, because of the snow., thanks for mentioning the time they take to grow.
You're welcome!
Great! Ido the same thing with some of store bought veggies. It’s amazing how spring onions grow so fast and big in no time. And it doesn’t die over winter😌 right now I’m trying kale 🤞🏼 hopefully it works out.
Plants are incredible! Nice! Keep us posted. Thanks for watching!
First time plant timer! Hope my potatoes actually grow! 😊
Wishing you luck! Hope they are doing well!
Misilla

Not to sound rude, but there are hydroponic farmers out there who have businesses around only growing their plants in water, with the use of fertilizers and other nutrients regularly.
did you need to put them in a sunny window for them to root? did they get any heat at all to root?
Hi I put them next to a window or you can place them on a windowsill. I uploaded the update, here’s the link. Thanks for watching! Misilla
ruclips.net/video/QbvxK0qJ0zI/видео.html
It’s true that one can grow plants hydroponically but that is a whole other venture, you need to have the right kinds of nutrients in the water. But yes, that could be an option, I suppose.
the herbs look so beautiful. Well you included Rosemarie in the video.., they also grow roots when put in water. i really love the leeks.
Thank you Eduardo! Started more herbs! I also uploaded the update three days ago!
Yes :) Thank you!
OH WOW...
I've been growing my green onions in my container for a year now.
I'm going to try carrots & potatoes.
Misilla
@@LearnToGrow1 yes the onions grow so fast.
thank you for these tips.
You’re welcome!
awesome, just started regrowing from the grocery last week. i love the video.
That’s great! Thank you Chanell!
I have regrown from the seeds but never try to regrow these vegetables thanks for the information.
You are most welcome :)
Happy to hear you’re feeling better. For a complete novice, can you link a video on how to gather the different seeds and then what you do with them.
Thanks Dawn, I uploaded an update of the seeds, here is the link below. ruclips.net/video/EYJbQJa_xB4/видео.html
Smart, fun and cost effective ✌️
Thank you! I left this information out...Remember, to change the water daily or every two days to prevent bacteria growth if you root in water. You can also plant them directly in well draining soil, just keep it moist Stay tubed for the update. Thanks for watching! Misilla
Thank you for this! You and your Daughter are beautiful. Please keep posting. One thing I learned, don’t get addicted to growing things, only grow what you like...LOL.

Thank you so much ... I’m regrowing scallions!! I’m on day 5 and I seee significant growth .
Do glad to hear that! If you got the Evergreen bunching type they will come back every year since they are perennial plants and hardy down to -30 F.
You’re welcome and keep me posted!
thanks so much for sharing, this is really inspiring for us considering living in Singapore and we have to buy over-priced imported veggies. Gonna make a good usage for our recycled glass jars.
Your hair looks great by the way "D take care!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I just planted a pineapple top and scallions. they seem to like each others company too.
Thanks for the ideas! You can use tulle (a veil like cloth) to protect your vegetables from insects eating the leaves. Inexpensive material on Ebay.
You're welcome and thanks!
This helped me for my school Good going I found this
Thank you for sharing. You've done a great job yourself.

Awesome. Any knowledge of how to make an audiobook?
How do you harvest the seeds? Do you have a video showing this? Also, can you mention if these planted food scraps were in full sun, etc.? Thanks!!
This is older video, but than you. Now I can regrow my turtle her greens.
Misilla

Thank you and have fun!
Thank you for watching! Misilla
