Thank you so much! I went to take my emissions test and threw a P0299 code. I found your video on that and followed it. The coat hanger in that manifold was great. Mine was very clogged and that cleared up the P0299. I then got the P1335 earlier today. I searched for a solution on Google and found you once again! Great job! It turned out my EGR valve was so caked with carbon it was stuck closed. I cleaned it all out, including inside where the valve goes then vaccumed it out. I then cleaned it out with a carb cleaner soaked rag, greased the O-rings and put it back in how you suggested. Great idea on the pry bars too! I started her up and she's purring better than I can remember! I am about to run her down the interstate to break it in a bit. I ordered one off the internet but decided to attempt a full clean. The check engine light never came back on after resetting it via the batteries. Thanks again I really love your videos and never imagined I could have fixed this sort of thing by myself. The Mechanic was quoting several hundred dollars and instead I spent $6 to replace the MAP sensor hose (figured I might as well swap it out since i had it off), and $40 in supplies and tools. And I get to keep the tools while saving hundreds of dollars!! I will use your videos again!
Did you have power surging problems ? Mine is idling bad and will cause power surging problems and 800 rpm and below it starts to surge. I’m wondering if this is the problem with my truck and if it will fix it . Thanks
Your video shows how to take it out and replace it what happens when the EGR code light comes back on? Well I figured it out, unhook your batterys for 15 minutes. For some reason the computer stores the code even after you clear it so you take it to Ford they charge you three hours labor to unhook your battery and clear the code. I did it mine has not come on since after replacing two EGR‘s in a row, I figured this out. Good luck people
If your are hard on your 6.0l every once in awhile the carbon should self clear. Also as long as the egr cooler isnt leaking coolant internally and the turbo isnt leaking excessive aounts of oil internallly the carbon will stay dry and pass more so than when these leak the carbon gets sticky and then there is gonna be a major sticking problem. I would say every 50k no matter what take out and clean it with foaming cleaner.
Very nice of you to take the time and help us out. Cheers........An hour later and we got'er dun. Truck now runs better from idle to top end. My brother's truck so I made him wrench. He really was surprised at how well it runs now and said "It feels like a new motor". Thanks!
@@FordTechMakuloco I heard the EGR valve not only works with the turbo (proper vain cycling) but it also affects the engine fan? Is there truth to this? I've read on forums about folks who've "modded" their trucks, but now the clutch fan kicks on at wonky times. Some say the EGR valve only works with the fan on the '05+ 6.0L Powerstrokes, but was a dumber system for '03-'04.
Otherwise as long as you have the latest pcm calibration they watch it very close now. Also egr shut off timer has been implimented in the lastest calibration to prevent low velocity movement of sooty egr at idle where it can stick to the valve etc instead of being passed.
Thanks for your video, I did it but I broke one of the bolts and still there in the hole, it’s posible to make it work like with one bolt, since I’m in the road brother
Scaner show this PO402-60 (exhaust gas recirculation EGR system flow detected too much ) is a tow truck 2003 Ford f450 turbo diesel 6.0 super duty I have to change it for a new one
I need some help, I have an 07 with the egr still on my truck, sometimes the cab when idling will shake and idle rough like an egr failure but no smoke and will go away when you hit the gas or shut the truck off and start it back up, one of my codes is saying low pressure from the egr sensor, should a new sensor fix this problem?
I have a question I don't have a CEL but my problem is that when i hit the gas i have to go easy on it till i hear the turbo spool otherwise it will smoke like a freight train it just started doing too. I cleaned my map sensor and ebp sensor it help a little, Do you think its my egr valve is opening slowly or its stuck open due to carbon build up? its a 2006 f450 it tows daily its all stock also.
Super helpful man, appreciate it! Where is the EGR sensor in relation to the valve? Would you recommend changing the sensor first and then the valve? Also if I have the valve off already, should I just go ahead and replace it?
I have an EGR delete on my 2004 6.0. do I still need to pull the EGR valve perodically and clean it or replace it? Just curious. Trying to keep up with preventative maintenance. I'm having a intermittent loosing boost sometimes and I'm trying to narrow the problem down.
I found my intermittent loosing boost problem. it was the electrical connection on the VGT. Turbo was also showing some wear, replaced it with the garrett powermax turbo. Also cleaned ebp sensor and tube, cleaned map sensor connection and replaced rubber hose to map sensor. I did as much preventative maintenance as,I could. Truck runs 100 % better.
I'm getting white smoke not black? My check engine light code is P0404 & shows up when accelerating up hills usually then chk engine light goes away in day or so, truck idle uneven & rpm's used to hit 2.5 only going to 2-2.1.
Thank you for the video! Any tell tale signs as to when the EGR should be cleaned or replaced? I have a 2005 6.0 with 35K miles. Nothing seems to be wrong. Not sure if preventative maintenance of the EGR will help anything else.
My buddy has an 03 that blows black smoke and yes in fact the egr valve had enough soot on it to sink a ship. My question is will that be enough to cause an intermittent no start? He is concerned there might be a second problem causing it not to start.
Im having this same problem the truck has p0275 cylinder 5 fault p0284 cylinder 7 fault p0281 cylinder 8 fault p0404 egr performance p0528 fan speed sensor no signal. Its hard to start in the mornings. When the truck is running I take it out on a drive and it stalls. I checked the egr valve and its stuck open. do you think if by switching out the valve and cleaning the egr pathways it will help with the faults at the cylinders.
Hey makuloco ,,,my 2004 f350 6.0 was running goof and strong ,,,,and start problem ,,, start and have no acceleration when i step the pedal,,,,after some get normal,,,,i have this situation for a 3 weeks ,,and then dies on the street and don't start anymore ,,,,crancks but not start,,, diesel flow good to the filter when turn the key on ,,,I take the ipr valve out and checked by eyes its looks ok,,,can you help
you did not discuss how to clean an old one nor did you provide information to the type(carb cleaner) you mentioned(foaming type). Too many ads but you did brush on the types of errors seen, would have been nice had you mentioned VGT errors associated with this(15%-85%).
Good to hear! I just bought my truck a few months ago and am wanting to do all that...gotta convince the wife first :) or wait until it goes bad like you did lol.
Brian - great videos and extremely helpful and informative (and I love the inspiring Christian music in the background). I have an '03 F-550 Super Duty with 6.0 Powerstroke. Some sort of probe (EGT? O2 Sensor?) rusted off the driver's side exhaust manifold. The exhaust is hissing real bad now where that probe used to be. What the heck is that thing? I need to replace it but I need to know what to ask for. Also do you have any idea what might be causing my truck to run very rough and down on power until it is thoroughly warmed up? And it seems to take a good 15 minutes for it to warm-up which is much longer than it took in the past. The truck has only 90,000 miles - I use it to haul heavy boats short distances and plow snow (which means lots of corrosion problems). Any pointers you have would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks and God bless!
+Teresa Billingsley I have never seen any sensors built into the exhaust manifolds on the 6.0L it must be a egt sensor put in aftermarket with the egr delete. Are you talking a tube that goes up to the EBP sensor? Also if it runs rough or has poor power till it is warmed up you need to first run this set of cleaners through you are likely experiencing stiction at that mileage-www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00545OUYS/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00545OUYS&linkCode=as2&tag=fordt-20&linkId=7F2SVYABAEYZZRM2

Took 5 mins to replace and took like 6 codes off the scanner now just need cylinder 1 glow plug replaced

This was really helpful I appreciate your video I’m gonna do mine after breakfast 👍

Once you delete the egr valve how do undelete and restore back to factory setting?
Thank you for this educational video.

What’s your opinion on the 6.0? Is it worth replacing the egr cooler and hpop and keeping the truck?
It would be easier to clean inside with Dental kit from a Dollar store.

My bolts must have been rated differently. Set my torque wrench to 120 in/lb and SNAP went the bolt. Off to get some extractors
Your torque wrench calibration is off or or you didn't feel the click.
120? Are you fckn crazy man lol
what if I delete egg? does it need the egg valve?

Hi i have a code p0402 and i clean the egr and after i cleane it i have a diferent code p0404 what it can be the problem?
perfect video ! you explained so well. Thank you
Heyas Makuloco, do you have a video on a P0405 EGR voltage low issue?
you did not discuss how to clean an old one nor did you provide information to the type(carb cleaner) you mentioned(foaming type).
Too many ads but you did brush on the types of errors seen, would have been nice had you mentioned VGT errors associated with this(15%-85%).
This is a removal and replacement video only. If you want a cleaning video I have an entire video dedicated to that process.
Would it cause higher oil temps?
excellent video and info
What cup number do I use?
Thanks!
Hey there question can the EGR valve make car starts with high rpm and vibrate at idle????
hi, I replaced my egr valve on my 04 6.0 cause the code p0487 and p0488 but I still getting the code. any help will be appreciated.
thankx
Just going thru this repair on my 2006 F350. What are you thoughts on an EGR delete kit to prevent a re occurrence?
God, Guns & Gears It is only for emissions so I say go for it.
Were did you get your ply bars . I tried too take my egr out but I cold not. Jeffrey
Jeffrey Kumjian Mine are craftsman 3 pack they sell.
Im losing coolant and i dont see any leaks and i took out mine and it was wet inside...any recommendations?
+Orlando J Hernandez Means your EGR cooler is starting to go out or has gone out.
+Luke Hlawaty thanks man. I end up doing arp oil cooler egr delete water pump now is working perfect

Thank you very good video 👍
I have an 05 & I'm losing fluid & tons of white smoke please tell me my EGR might be it and not the heads
Egr cooler could have a leak if you don't have coolant in your oil its probably the egr cooler.

I'm having the egr valve symptoms, had truck scan no codes show up ,
Most of the time they won't set codes. Take it out and check it and clean if necessary as shown here- ruclips.net/video/TCFziVFkOt4/видео.html
Thank alot, removing/ cleaning / in the the morning hoping this solved the problem

What if I spray some clp in there?
try this in an E series truck!!!!
Bwhahahaha 🤣🤣🤣 I know right?
Awesome thanks so much ❤
Thanks. Super helpful!
My egr won't pop out! Help!!!!!
can you tell me can the egr stop my 05 f350 from starting
I have seen hard starting from them being stuck open yes
Thank for the help
A lot of white smoke can this be a possibility
Great job
Do you have to unplug the battery before removing the egr valve?
no
Grate video man

Thankyou very helpful. Great video
i got that light, cept mines broke
