I think, scottie was trying to defend the best guy here that's why he followed him and tried to zone before ausar drive to the left. you can't expect a rookie player (battle) defend such a really good player. so basically battle is in wrong here. he got baited to the switch. scottie probably thinking already that ausar can't shoot it from distance and he will pass the ball since he's only 19% from 3 in his nba career. that's why he went inside instead of following ausar which can cause delay and open drive basket for ausar.

RJ barret probably just made the right decision here. He can shoot 3 and he's open. Jamison, and him were the only shooters who could knockdown three on that possession.

Again, scottie is still defending Ausar. one of the best offensive players for Detroit. The situation on this clip was they are 1 on 1 guy already. Battle should be blamed here, he was responsible for defending Stewart since Poeltl was going down.
but yeah, i think help defense lacks in here.

Not really an RJ fan, but a huge BBQ fan. I said this over and over he's a choker in a crucial time. He does what he wants to do whenever he has the ball. He can be a distractive offence but he's not doing it. whenever he has the ball at the end it leads to turnover / offensive foul.
    3:35
again yeah, they lack help defense. same as scottie did they probably trust their teammates that's why they never contest and try to catch up. because it might lead to foul. since he's from behind. as what scottie said in post interview they are trying not to foul.
But yeah. We all have a different perspective on their way of playing the game, maybe they can see something we can't and maybe there are certain situations we couldn't understand. Some coaches plays aren't meant to be played.it can be ruined once the defending team establishes the right defence. and there it goes. Your coach's trust comes, wishing a miracle will happen. just like how Steve Kerr trusts Curry's three

that late game scenario where Isaiah Stewart got the transition dunk is not on Scottie.
had he helped on Stewart and left the strong-side corner open from 3, you would be saying that he shouldn't have gambled off his man...
that's between Davion and Battle to communicate and make sure one stays back

@killacam909 that's not on Scottie but it would help if he was more engaged. The 3 point shooter he was guarding was the Thompson twin who's shooting very poorly from the 3 and also Davion or Battle would have plenty of time to rotate over.

@Unknowndarksoul did I blame Scottie in this video for his poor performance on the offensive side? Did I say Scottie was the main reason we lost? Just bc you criticize a play or 2 doesn't mean you dislike Scottie, you can like players and still be critical of some plays. Rj was the one I critiqued the most in this video

Are you sure it wasn't the free throws? That's why they lost. 😅
